Two meat plate with beans, potato salad and toasted bread.

I have drove by this place at least 100 times and this time I finally decided to stop.I parked and went in and as I looked around the place reminds me of an old school bbq place. They have a bar to the right as you walk in some tables and a couple of booths. They also have more seating outside in the,it looked like a covered patio or just a extension of the restaurant.Either way there is plenty of seating. So as I got to the counter to order it took them a minute to get to me.But they did acknowledge me twice just to let me know I was there.Well as I was waiting I looked at the menu and decided on the two meat plate.Which I ended up getting ribs, brisket along with potato salad and beans. It also came with a piece of toasted bread. And I washed it down with some sweet tea.I have to say overall it was pretty solid.I really have no complaints except for one. They don't take the membrane off their ribs.Other then that the food was good. And the tea and sides were on point. Not sure why this place only gets three and a half stars?I think it should get a solid 4 imo.I would definitely go back.If you're in the neighborhood and hungry for BBQ give this place a shot.

Relived this memory today with my Family and it is just as I remembered..... DELICIOUS! The overall eating does not give this place justice. The ambiance is the same with the addition of a bar and covered patio area. The staff is younger but overall the service was good. They could have been a little more lively and not so straight faced. Smiling goes a long way. Great BBQ and has been for years! Give them a try!

This place is always consistent with great food, cold beer, and friendly staff. The half chicken on Tuesdays is the special, but honestly, it's my go-to any day of the week. We often bring colleagues here when they're in town visiting--it's the real deal when it comes to authentic Texas BBQ.

Fried okra, bbq stew, regular sausage and chopped brisket.

A lot of reviews have described the process - it's as they say. Four stars only as compared to other Dallas BBQ joints - five star anywhere outside of Texas. Ribs and Jalapeño Sausage were perfect - great spice in the sausage. Brisket was ok - might have been my serving but not much flavor though I really didn't get any bark on my plate. I'd order it again - I'm just saying. If you're making the BBQ rounds and find yourself near Roanoke then Hard Eight should be on the list.

We had chopped brisket (or pulled pork) - I really couldn't tell for sure which it was, but I'm leaning towards chopped brisket. It was overcooked, yet not dry- probably due to it being sauced. Not a lot of flavor from the meat. We also had chicken (or it could have been turkey.) This was another head scratcher. It was overcooked, but not dry - it had a crutch of being in a liquid to keep it 'moist', but you could tell it was overcooked. The liquid tasted as if it had liquid smoke added to it and that overpowered the taste, so I couldn't determine if it was chicken or turkey. The potato salad was decent, but very vinegary. I was hoping the green beans would have a bacon-esque flavor, but no - they tasted like green beans from a can with some slight seasoning from vinegar? The star of the show was the coleslaw. Very fresh tasting, crunchy, and bright. The vinegar was prominent, but that is what is expected from a coleslaw. Slight sweetness. It was perfect. Overall, very underwhelming. With so many great places to get BBQ in the area, I can't see this place lasting long - unless we just had issues due to it being a large catering order. I hope this was just a one-off and the place really shines for regular individual food orders.

But my husband and his buddy ALWAYS come here after golf at nearby Fossil Creek GC so there's that. What I can tell you is that the bread in a bag they bring you is yummy! Both times, the meat came out cold. When it happened the first time, we thought it was a one-time thing. We ordered brisket and St. Louis ribs. While the meat was cold, the sides were warm, which is a strange and frustrating combination for a BBQ spot. Service was also off. We waited on refills we'd been told were coming, sat for a full 10 minutes with nothing, and had to ask a second time before they arrived. It wasn't even busy. On top of that, the waiter spilled water on our table, and before we were seated the table still had a water jug and a dirty rag sitting on it: those were just cleared away and left the surface wet for us. Cold food and inattentive service two visits in a row is enough for us. It's a shame, because we used to enjoy this place, but we can't recommend it based on how things have gone lately. Upon receiving our checks, it was also evident that our waiter had recently taken a smoke break because of how strong it smelled, too. Not appetizing whatsoever.

THIS place contends with the best of them! One thing we noted is that some places grill one meat well, but the rest are just okay. For example, good ribs and so-so brisket. That's not the case here! Everything we tried was incredibly tender! It's still tender despite warming it up the next day! There are ample sides. We tried macaroni and cheese and fried okra. Both were good. There was ample seating, extra parking, and the staff made us feel like we were in a family member's backyard. They were friendly and helpful. Please try Lil JJ's!

Service was friendly and explained some of the menu options well. Ordering was quick, and food was brought out quickly. Food - Overall if you compare this to most TX BBQ places, the flavors here are more reminiscent of Backyard BBQ. You're not going to find intensely smokey flavors, or Michelin rated BBQ...which is not a bad thing.... For the area, the value - pricing is fair, and quality (Brisket was pretty tender for Lean, Ribs were flavorful) it's a 5* through and through. But it won't be "Competition" esque. Example, the ribs are very tasty, but somewhat fall of the bone - they don't have the bite of a top top spot. If you want flavorful barbecue with a good menu, seasoned well, and good service JJs is solid. The area lacks barbecue and this is a good intro into the area where they're way too many chains. Would recommend stopping by!
