After 10 years of taking a certain prescription without any changes to it, my PCP Dr. Vokes abruptly told me to start weaning myself off of it, even though there are no laws, regulations, or even negative research outcomes on my Rx. Customer Service has already been very horrible at this location and even trying to get a hold of my Doctor, who would mess up even sending out my prescription refills every month was already virtually impossible. Not to mention how dismissive the staff has been with their care, which is something I really started to notice at my appointment last week. My doctor told me my only option was to find another Doctor who would continue my current prescription, and when I told him I would start looking for one, Coral sent me a message that I could not respond to in essence saying "we are cutting you off from medical care against your consent." I have not even found a new doctor yet, which my PCP told me to do, but Coral is already cutting off my ability to seek care?

We have graduated onward from Hill Country Pediatrics but I felt they deserved a review from me. We…read morewere with Dr Bartlett and her practice from fall 1998 to summer 2016. I've known Dr Bartlett since she was in practice with another physician off of Duval (blanking on name)--when she decided to go into practice on her own in Jester Village this ROUND ROCK MOM followed her. FYI that infant that caused me to change peds is now in college (and her brother is in HS). When I was pregnant I thought we'interviewed carefully and found a great ped--that is until he started telling me to "slow down and work on weaning my daughter from breastfeeding: she was getting a bit chunky." Umm...this was at 4 months, did not mesh with anything else I was learning...so I quizzed my friends (now that we all had babies of all ages), resulting with an interview Dr Elizabeth Bartlett. Some key memories: My oldest was diagnosed with asthma at 3, and I remember Dr Bartlett and her med student nebulizing her in the office--then making sure I understood what to do, because they had already arranged for equipment and meds to be delivered later to our house. When Dr Bartlett (and Becky) moved we moved...that was a heck of a drive! Then my son came along when my oldest was four...Dr Bartlett was prepped and ready, but my son decided an earlier showing was more exciting. So, we met Dr Wells. Dr Wells was a perfect addition to the team-neither Dr had started their own families (but that was soon to follow). The practice was growing exponentially--and if we couldn't get in to see Dr Bartlett then Dr Wells (for either child) was just wonderful. One horrible eve, my son at 7 mos old developed a high temp-that kept rising and rising fast. Off we went down to the drs. Blood tests were drawn-didn't look good--I was asked (strongly encouraged/led by the arm out to the lobby) while Drs Bartlett & Wells worked together to do a spinal tap. While it was being rushed to Dell Children's (still located near Breckenridge) I hightailed to Dell Children's with Ian as that was the only place open to still do x-rays on a 7mo baby. My cell was dying: Dr Bartlett kept calling that hospital dept to 1- find out the the status of everything and 2-keep talking to me and keep me calmer (?!?) Long story short, my son just runs really really high fevers when sick: but both of us were taken cared of so well. In 5th grade he gave us another scare and we ended up at Children's (this time he was admitted, given fluids, meds, and observed by LOTS of med students). But always Hill Country Drs were watching over. As the kids started school, getting them down to Jester, and even the RiverPlace locations became challenging. The kids were going to minute clinics for strep, etc instead of having it recorded. We kept thinking about moving but decided to just wait until my oldest was out of HS. At the final checkup for my kids (their bdays are so close appts were a family affair with diff rooms), My oldest checked fine and ready for college (and xfer to an internist): we found a hernia on my son. Dr Bartlett came in and did a second check (Dr Tarant was reviewing one of possibly both), then I talked to my own doctors to get a referral to a surgeon who usually operated on adults but wouldn't mind operating on my 14 yr old. As that finished and he got a clean bill of health.....we graduated the family to internists in the same practice where my internist is located. Some overall comments: yes the formula samples were annoying, but Dr Bartlett was and is highly supportive of mothers choosing to breastfeed. My oldest weaned herself at 14 mos, because of a surgery I was regrettably forced to wean Ian at 8 months. I received no warnings or problems from anyone: Drs, nurses, any staff. We saw the additions of Drs Tarrant and Thompson, a NPP (sorry only saw her once) and Rachel L PA. Dr Thompson ended up finding a location better suited to where she lived; there was another (female) Dr that my son really liked but unfortunately she didn't stay particularly long (she could have been there 8 years: we were with them for 18 ) As male nurses arrived I know my son was pleased. He was fine with all the doctors but when we did finally leave one of his requests was to make sure he could finally see a male doctor He is. At some point I do hope they find a wonderful male PA or MD to add to the team. I watched Each of these doctors grow, but I trusted them from the start: I could ask questions without reprisal. To everyone searching: Hill Country Pediatrics is the best. If we lived significantly closer, I know we would have seen them for every sniffle cough etc, but pulling anyone out of junior high (let alone high school!) seems to require a court order. No matter: during crucial development years, my kids had the best! Thank you for the absolute best care possible!

Well another visit . This time family member Thanksgiving Wednesday for possible urinary tract…read moreinfection. Expert and rapid care . I am looking into the concierge option with them for the following reasons- If you get sick enough to be seen urgently in general you need labs or X-ray. In my prior practice in Northern Virginia we had a full lab and X-ray ability. We could get blood count , chemistry's and X-ray of chest all in an hour. We could even give IV meds like Lasix to treat heart failure - all while sitting in our renovated 150 year old office . (Winchester VA) Our overall treatment options were much less than is available today BUT as practices got larger and larger -and the rules for labs and X-ray became complex in many ways it's become difficult to provide easy care for patients that are uncomfortable but not sick enough to admit . Most family clinics are overbooked and even if you can get in - getting a quick chest X-ray , blood counts or even urinalysis can require a trip to a lab company or radiology group. This facility still has the benefits of one stop easy in and out to resolve some significant problems that are somewhat time sensitive. Can get a liter of fluid , an IV antibiotic and appropriate testing. It's also full service ER to stabilize you before admission. They can even admit you there for certain illnesses. In this case the diagnosis was made , treatment prescribed and follow up calls to our home were made by the physician and nurse. Once again great care from a physician owned facility. We are very fortunate to live in Austin as the health care here is truly world class (I can attest to cardiac care) -but this type of facility -a small hospital /ER/ family medical clinic with full complement of diagnostic services - is amazing. I partnered our practice (The Heart Hospital) with St David's and I am biased but on the physician, nurse , tech side - it's hard to find bad care .. no matter which health system you use. At times I have thought it is too expensive to live in Travis County but when I drive by this local facility and see the old VW ambulance and realize that especially as we age it's a great place to live I continue to highly recommend and support this facility. I've been visiting this location for ~5 years. Really large clinic, clean, and full facility…read more(bonus: ARA right next door for all imagining needs). Front desk and scheduling staff are always pleasant and helpful. After a decade and a half in west ATX, I finallllly found a fabulous internist (who serves as my PCP; Dr. SC) at ARC-FP. Yay! Very patient, thorough, takes his time, kind, compassionate...fantastic "bed side manner" and care. Everything you want in a doctor...but, sadly not without some...mmm...negatives. I guess a lot of other people also like Dr. C as much because he's always booked out far. Three plus months in advance to even schedule an annual exam. Eee. And expect to wait a while to be seen after your appointment time (they have comp Wifi; signal can be poor inside building). I think feeling like I'm in great hands is worth a little sacrifice, especially after such a long journey to find somebody I really, really like. Luckily, I found another PCP at a different ARC location (Bee Cave; see review) who usually has same week appointments available when I need to see someone faster (e.g., order labs, GI flareup, respitory infection, etc.). I also found my wonderful rheumatologist at ARC-FP. Dr. K hits all the marks as well. Very kind and so knowledgeable. He quickly Dx a longtime issue I had been suffering with, and continues to assist me on my journey to gain mobility and PRAY someday be pain free. I really appreciate everybody at Austin Regional Clinic Four Points. They are always very busy so some patience is required; however, they still manage to make me feel important and truly cared about. I'll take is as a W. :D
