I started going to see Dr. Shilpa when my OBGYN referred me to her during my first pregnancy. I was having lots of problems with backache, shoulder and neck pain, you name it. That was three pregnancies ago. Dr. Shilpa is spectacular. She alleviated my pain during and after each pregnancy and is always very careful with her adjustments and stretches.
She is a very engaging, enthusiastic person - when you talk to her you can't help but smile. I have her use the activator on me and she isn't stingy (like others I've been to) when she uses it. If there is a tough spot, Dr Shilpa will also use the "drop" on me, which usually does the trick. If that doesn't work, she is great at manual adjustments as well - and coming from a scaredy cat like me, that is saying something!! Throughout the whole process she tells me what she's doing and asks if it's ok if she goes to a different technique - before she does it, something other chiropractors I've gone to don't bother to do. Dr. Shilpa has a bunch of gadgetry to help patients, including e-stim and hot packs.
Dr. Shilpa has shown me exercises and even gone through insurance to get some medical equipment for me to help with my maintenance, during, after and between pregnancies. Her front office (Bella) is great when dealing with insurance, scheduling, or whatever you need. My last appointment, I couldn't find anyone to watch my infant daughter and when I called Bella to let her know I would have to reschedule, she told me she would take care of the baby while I got my adjustment and massage therapy. I can't say how much I appreciated that gesture! It is things like this that keep me coming back.
On to the massage therapists...I have seen Danya and Imelda. They are both great! They ask me where I'm having any pain or stress and then make sure to work on it while I'm there. They also do prenatal massage therapy, which again, was a lifesaver!! They have all sorts of gadgets and pillows, etc to accommodate a pregnant body! Also, when you're pregnant they have a different kind of massage oil (?) they use that is baby safe. When I'm sick they even put tiger balm near the face rest of the massage table so that it can help me to breathe easier. Again, little things make all the difference!!
Something I really like is the communication between Dr. Shilpa and the massage therapists. They let each other know, "Hey, she is really holding some tension in her shoulders, you may want to focus on that." So that the other person knows what to look for.
All the staff here are terrific and they know me by name, something that is unexpected coming from a Dr's office! I actually moved out of the metroplex a couple of years ago and make a point to schedule an appointment every time I visit (which is about once a month). They are so accommodating with their scheduling that it is never a problem to get in to see them. I will never go anywhere else! read more
