It's so delicious. The staff here is nice. A total hidden gem I like the fresh soy milk. Old school, Austin prices And vibe. $2 Apple bread i forgot to take a photo.

yummmm it has hot dogs & green onions

Soft & really good! Also tried their coconut tower! must try for breads! Great owner very nice. Clean. Yall got to try them. Love supporting small businesses!

Chinese bakery with both traditional and modern baked goods. Even have hot soy milk. The baked good sizes are bigger than those well known bakeries. The taste/quality is on par with them but cheaper.

Pork buns

The staff were very friendly and sweet. The pork buns were very reasonably priced and yummy. The egg tarts were just okay. But I'd love to come back to try their other stuff, especially the sandwiches!

Coconut bread

I love their coconut bread here so much. It is very soft. Literally had dreams about eating it again LOL they switched owners recently when I came. I was expecting a Vietnamese bakery place but now it's a Chinese Bakery. The new owners are so sweet. There is no seating inside, more like a grab and go. Bread is very fairly priced here too.

"Bánh mì"

Some family and I stopped in because the Baguette House & Cafe didn't have any baguette bread left because they were fulfilling a big order. All we wanted to grab was a couple of baguettes for dinner. When we went in we were greeted by an older gentleman, but he only spoke Chinese.. This made it pretty impossible to order verbally. Therefore, we pointed to a couple of baguettes that were sitting in the display. We held up 4 fingers since we decided to get more than just a couple. He shook his head and said, "ok," but we waited for about 15 minutes and he brought out "banh mi." At this point we just weighed our options because we don't speak Chinese and just paid, settling with forking up $24 for the sandwiches. We couldn't communicate the issue, so we just went ahead and supported the store since they were really trying to help us. Once we got home and unwrapped the sandwiches, the picture below is what we received. I try to say this in the most respectful way I can since the staff was very nice, but this is such a disgrace of bánh mì.. They used garlic bread that was falling apart and slapped mayonnaise and American cheese on it, like Kraft singles.. I am not a picky eater and I could not muster up the gut to finish it.. It's sad because I've heard good things about the Banh mi here, but this was upsetting.. I can't say anything for the pastries, but from what I've seen the management has changed but they are somewhat still serving Vietnamese dishes that are disgraceful to their origins

Large portion banh mi that justifies the $5.95 price tag
Rebecca L.

I've watch this place went from eh - to new ownership - to secret menu - to expanded explicit menu. Came back today and I was relieved that covid nor winter storm have stopped their growth. If you haven't tried their banh mi, give it a whirl. It's discreetly off in the corner right next to MT Market. They now have clearer signs of the banh mi offering so you can't miss it anymore. Takeout only, each banh mi is $5.95 and is one out of two places that have Xiu Mai (meatball) The Dac Biet (Special) has a deep variety of deli meat. Cut thin but a big portion of. Viet ham, cheesehead (not really cheese just different varieties of pork cuts gelled together by its own fat), chinese bbq pork, proper liver pate and butter. Thit Nuong (Grilled Pork) is on the sweeter side with fatty chewy texture. Very flavorful. Bread is the airy with crispy outside and is pretty big. Definitely justify the $5.95. Banh Bao, Pate Chaud all the classic Viet bakery stuff.

Tiramisu...mmmmm!

I usually visit this bakery after eating at a restaurant in Chinatown. There are all kinds of goodies here...cookies, cakes, cupcakes, etc. I usually look at the goodies and feeling a little overwhelmed (and full from my earlier dinner) pass on buying anything. Tonight, I bought a slice of Tiramisu cake to take home and it was delicious! Very velvety cake, great taste without being too overpowering like Tiramisu sometimes can be. It was also pretty to look at. The workers inside were nice people too. I will buy more desserts from here in the future because life without desserts is no life for me! 4/3/2021

Salted egg taro cake

Came here the past couple of times when we come to MT supermarket. This is a cute little bakery in the corner of the shopping center. Definitely looks family owned and operator. I asked them how long they have been here the lady said "too long" lol Every time we come here we end up at the rack of buns with the salted egg yolk inside! Those things are delicious! Last time we wanted the red bean one but it was out and they said wait we will be right back. Went to the back and got us some and oh my goodness delicious. We tried every flavor and the taro, red bean, and durian are our favorites by far! all the other stuff is really really good too and honestly it's just run by a sweet older couple or at least I think it is since they are always there. Definitely love come here and will be here again. Support local and support this little gem :)

So many good choices for yummy & fluffy bread!! I bought 6 pieces of bread and it was only $12.50. This place is a true hidden gem

Tasty bánh bèo only on Sundays. If you get lucky they sometimes sell them on weekdays but it's like their Sunday Specials.

Best vietnamese food/ bakery items! Don't let the word "Bakery" fool you, they sell all kinds of food and also sell food trays (some might call it catering?) for parties! Hidden gems not mentioned in the menu that I've found are: (these are catering options) - Korean clear noodle stir fry - Crawfish noodles/ fried rice - Vietnamese Gỏi - Chè Almost anything you see at the bakery, they can put it in a tray for you to take to a party (just ask). Owners are super nice people and very helpful. I love their savory options despite the "bakery" in their name

Pandan jelly
Lenny D.

I love this bakery!! It is not a big one but they do make Vietnamese desserts with ingredients that places may not be brave enough to do it or have it in their store because of the pungent smell-- yes I am talking about durian!! I got their pandan jelly and durian crepes. The crepes had a cream and fresh durian filling. I also got their pate chaud which is a Vietnamese meat pastry. I saw a few other hard-to-find items in their glass case and I definitely look forward to trying out more. It is locally owned and everything is freshly made. Also got their banh bot lot, Vietnamese tapioca dumplings and they were good!! Definitely reheat them so you get the perfect chewy texture. Located right next to MT market, convenient location and plenty of parking.

I had just read on Reddit a couple days prior that this was recommended as an alternative to another Austin bakery. When I walked in I was surprised to find many older individuals sitting and chatting, so I thought there might be some kind of event. But it's probably just the demographics of the neighborhood! Based on the decor I can tell they're not trying to be a "trendy" bakery and remain true to their identity as a neighborhood business. They still had a good number of pastries available but I did get the last strawberry danish of the day (pictured). I also got the almond croissant. Their pre-made bread loaves all looked appetizing as well. I thought both pastries had good texture but could have used more filling/flavoring.

The mint ice cream was incredible because they used fresh mint, not mint extract or mint flavor so it tastes different than the regular mint chocolate chip ice cream we are all used to. They were gooey in the middle, perfectly crisp on the outside, and rich without being eye-squinting sweet. The chocolate chip cookies had welcoming textures and flavors. In addition, my server was kind and patient as I made my selection. You could taste the quality of ingredients, and each mouthful was progressively delicious. The building is colorful and decorated in bright pink with fun artwork and decor for an uplifting vibe. The line moved quickly and the service was friendly fast and efficient. I was able to place my order and pay with Apple Pay. I ordered the Taiyaki Sundae with black sesame and ube swirl soft serve served in a fish shaped mochi Belgian style waffle with Oreo dust on top. You can customize your sundae with filling like organic red sweet beans, Nutella or custard and toppings like Oreo dust, fruity pebbles or rainbow sprinkles. I ate this on site and the nutty black sesame balanced the sweet ube perfectly, and the Oreo topping added the best crunch. They had a variety of mochi donut flavors. Lucky for me, nothing was sold out today. I ordered the Oreo ube mochi donut and ube milk tea to-go. I ate the mochi donut later that day and it was probably my least favorite item from my order. It had the chewy mochi texture however I didn't get enough of the rich ube flavor. It had somewhat of a bitter aftertaste and the Oreo overpowered the ube. I drank the ube milk tea the next day and it was creamy, smooth, and not overly sweet. I really enjoyed the flavor profile of the beverage and would order it again. Overall, enjoyed my selections and will be back to try more dessert options and flavors from one of the most unique Asian dessert spots in Austin!

The beef shawarma is thinly sliced, well-marinated, and packed with that classic shawarma flavor. It had the perfect balance of spices, and the portion size was no joke. Paired with their fresh pita and sides, it's easily one of the best shawarmas I've had in Austin. My favorite sides are the potatoes (must get), beet salad, tabouleh, hummus, and babaganoush.
