I learned to understand when to sing loudly and when to sing softly. But I never learned which voice was my own. I never learned how to use what I have already because I was so caught up trying to sound like everyone else, I never embraced my own sound. My thinking has prevented me all this time, from growing as a singer. The ability has been there, the desire has absolutely been there, but with a clouded mind, the greatest of any talents becomes average, at best. Both of my parents were leaders in church, singing traditional black gospel music, filled with soul. Lots of runs, lots of modulations and key and tempo changes, lots of drawn out vowels, extended breath holds, stratosphere-level bridge notes... but most of all, they always had emotion. There was passion that lead them when they sang. I remember saying, "I'll never be able to sing like them, so I hold back a lot because I can't do what they did." In our first session, her reply was simple: "You CAN do it. And you will sing even BETTER than they did." Just to have a positive voice to trust more than my own negative thinking, that alone would be worth my time. But she's taken time to help me understand when to use my full voice vs my falsetto, how to project sound in every range, how to shape notes to match my strongest vowel sounds, how to be willing to make a mistake and learn from it. And whereas I used to refrain from allowing anyone to hear me singing, now, it's common for me to sing out freely at work, at church and everyone else, with little concern for who is listening. I still have lots to learn, but I'm grateful to be learning it in a safe place.

Because I told them I may be interested to continue, they signed me up and now I have a charge on my account that can't get rid of. Spoke to the lady about it, since I never went to a class or registered my son. She told me because I was interested that I was registered by her and had to pay. Staff is unhelpful and this school is such a SCAM. if you want to get charged for saying you're interested but never register or attend a class then sign up. RIDICULOUS!

I own that I didn't catch it sooner on my bank statements but $600+ in, I spoke with three different employees in the hopes that I could get a refund. The end result? They gave me a two-month credit for eight months of automatic withdrawls from my account. My daughter literally only took one class and she didn't like it. That's an expensive class. I own my oversight but a little empathy and integrity goes a long way these days. I was planning to re-enroll her this summer but i'm out so much money now... I'll teach her to swim myself. AND, I couldn't directly communicate the the general management or owner directly. Instead; the employees I spoke with only offered to send an email to upper management on my behalf. That's unacceptable.

This school sucks, the students don't want to be there, the staff don't want to be there. I wouldn't even be going there anymore if the VA wasn't paying for it and I don't want to have to pay them back. It sucks! Go up there during class time and ask a student, any of them will tell you the same thing I'm writing.

That's about where it ends though? You don't have any set program. When you get in you learn whatever they're teaching that month. Which means the person who joined one month after you is going to learn something you never did the month after you graduate. I know it's a 9 month program and they need to rush information into you, but I feel there should be something set so you learn the main things you need to know for the field! Like during my last month we actually learned about coding and some computer stuff..! The people who left before then or started after probably never had an 'hands on training' before graduating. To add to the other review, the main guy running the place at the time only seemed to care about cramming anyone he could into the school and not really giving two shakes on what happened to them or if they were really meant for the program. I know schools needs to meet a minimum, but I could only see dollar signs in his eyes and nothing more. Also, kind of adding onto my first paragraph, with so many students graduating EVERY MONTH, that means there's at least 10-30 people every month entering the job field at entry level. That's a lot of competition and unless you know someone or get damn lucky you're going to be hard press finding anything that isn't minimum hours. Also, don't trust them when it comes to 'helping' you look for jobs. They send you Craigslist, Monster, etc links that you're already looking at! And randomly throw in a few links that have nothing to do with your field.. or the medical field for that matter. I think in the almost year they were sending me emails only 1-2 emails contained any job offers from direct companies that were asking for graduates from the school and ones similar. (So you have an actual shot!) Pretty much, this school is good if you want to learn a new skill (well, get a basic idea for one with how the program is set up), but don't put all your hope into getting a better life. Like with most colleges, you'll be hard pressed. I just think with this one you'll be even more so since so many graduate each month and not just once a year. Things might have changed since I graduated, but from what I've heard it hasn't. Just be careful and have a back-up plan. (I got lucky and a friend put in a good word at her job for me. I'm not doing exactly what the program 'taught' me, but it's close enough to get something in the field later on. I hope anyone entering the program has the same luck.)

We are looking for another time to plan another event.
