Itis!! Food coma!! This will be your result after eating from Tev's Kitchen. You're looking at Oxtail, Rice, Mac 'n cheese and Cabbage. I also purchased Wings, something I don't normally order. I saw the glistening sauce on a wing someone was eating, and I was curious. Don't skip on the cabbage. It's so tasty and perfecrly spicy which made it hard to stop eating. I purchased this order to go, arriving home over an hour later. I did not warm the food, and dove into the oxtail. They were small but plentiful, perfectly seasoned and the meat fell off the bone becoming addicting. I ate a couple of the tender wings and used the sauce as lipstick. Finger licking good. You'll love the wings . The Mac 'n Cheese will be your demise. It was tepid by the time I got home, but with every bite it was richer and more indulgent. Each bite was gooey, creamy and felt like a warm hug. I can only imagine how rich it would taste hot. I also loved the diversity of people in the restaurant. So many different cultures coming to share a meal. Good food brings people together. Parking is difficult but you'll find it. If you're lucky, you'll see the house with the cats and chickens.

Receipt for lamb but order of salmon... Minor mistake but I do want my lamb chops please.

$80- almost 90 for a salmon somebody gotta reach out to ya boy and get this solved though I ain't went back since family

Caribbean soul food restaurant with delicious food and generous portions. Service was friendly The menu is small so it was easy to choose what we wanted to try. We had four platters and it was so much food-oxtail, goat curry, jerk chicken and fried (boneless) chicken. Love the bold flavors of the food here. Every platter was served with mac & cheese, rice and peas, cabbage and fried plantains plus sweet iced kool aid. The oxtail was AMAZING and the jerk chicken was some of the best I've tried. The oxtail was very tender in a savory sauce that went really well over the rice and beans. The jerk chicken was well seasoned with a great smoky flavor. The goat curry was meaty and flavorful. The fried boneless chicken was good but I loved everything rise even more. The mac and cheese is so good too and I wish my stomach had more room. Definitely recommend Tex's kitchen!

Jerk & garlic sauces weren't needed.

Nice covered patio area outside to eat and a few booths inside. Security guard is on site. Second visit and Tev's does not disappoint. Service was straight to the point. Enjoyed steak, mac n cheese and broccoli. A complementary cup of Koolaid was a nice treat.

Tevs kitchen is a must have when in la and looking to just hang out! food is heavy so that's why i say on a chill day lol but nonetheless very good, exceptionally good at that everything was amazing from the jerk chicken to the short ribs! The sides now they're on a level all alone just delicious!! service was great, super friendly and inviting they do triple check when using a credit card for online orders so please make sure to have the card handy and ID they do not mess around !

Tev's & Family Kitchen is pure comfort food done right. The plate was loaded with tender, fall-apart meat that was slow-cooked to perfection--rich, deeply seasoned, and full of flavor in every bite. The mac and cheese was creamy, cheesy, and baked just right, while the cabbage and sides balanced everything out with that homemade, soul-food touch. Portions are generous and filling, and you can really taste the love and care put into the food. Nothing feels rushed or generic--this is the kind of meal that reminds you of a family kitchen, not a fast takeout spot. If you're looking for hearty, satisfying soul food that hits every time, Tev's & Family Kitchen is absolutely worth the stop.

Tev's Kitchen This food is so good, it honestly reminds me of my childhood. I grew up eating Belizean food and occasionally jerk chicken, so this was everything for me. The flavors are incredible, rich, bold, and so comforting. Easily 100/10 The plates are always packed to the rim, like they do not hold back The price ranges from about $30-$45, but it's absolutely worth it. One plate can literally last you three days, which makes it such a good value. I would highly recommend Tev's Kitchen and I can't wait for more locations to open up near me Please give this a like if this was helpful

Got this Cajun steak pasta from Tev's Kitchen and it was absolutely amazing. I believe it's a jerk pasta although I am not a fan of jerk I don't feel like it gave jerk flavor. I feel like it's just a very well seasoned Cajun kind of pasta. The steak was good, it wasn't chewy. It wasn't hard. The salmon was good. The salmon was really good. The sauce was good wasn't too creamy really flavorful big portion ate some for lunch dinner and then lunch the next day very pricey, it was $40. Would I have it again absofreakinlutely.

I'd been wanting to try this place for a while but was a little hesitant about spending $42 on an oxtail plate. I'm all for supporting Black-owned businesses, but the price gave me pause. I ordered online early and was number seven, so I didn't have to wait outside, which was definitely a plus. When I arrived, it took a few minutes to be acknowledged, and I was redirected a couple of times without clear communication. I expected an ID check, but the process felt excessive: having to show my email, ID, credit card, and then Apple Pay. I wouldn't have even been able to place the order or show up without matching info, so it felt a bit unnecessary. That said, I'm aware they do give a generous portion, and the food was good. However, I've had comparable oxtail plates in LA for less, so while I'm glad I finally got to try it, I'm not sure I'd go out of my way for it again.

    Goat curry is BOMB omg

Their goat curry and cabbage are SO DIVINE!~ This was my first time having goat curry, and I hesitated because I never had goat, usually I don't like "gamey" meat like lamb. I'm so glad I took the leap to try it at Tev's because I fell in LOVE! The curry is so delicious, the aroma is still dancing on my taste buds even through the Kool Aid. That's just amazing. Oxtail was also flavorful, fall off the bone tender. Cabbage is a must have. My husband wondered how they made it so tasty. I wish I had more stomach so I can eat more. Portions are huge, so I have food for days! Staff were so friendly and welcoming, you feel like family. Will definitely stop by whenever I'm in LA!

This is the best Jamaican food I have ever eaten in my life and I'm not even sure how much better it can get than this. Insanely delicious mac and cheese and tender oxtail. Just go eat here man. It's hella expensive but worth it. 9.5/10.

When I got on Yelp, I saw mixed reviews, especially comments about a woman being rude or having a bad attitude. Thankfully, we did not have that experience directly. I did briefly see her come out from the kitchen, we caught eyes, and she walked back inside. The ambiance was ok, good music , no customers at the time, but a few tables were dirty. The young man cleaned it right away . To be fair, I don't think the issue is primarily the young man taking the orders. He was kind, apologetic, and seemed to care, but the overall operation felt unorganized. Our order was incorrect three separate times. First, the drink order was wrong, but he fixed it and apologized. Second, we paid extra for mayo ketchup and garlic sauce in small 1 oz containers, but they were not placed on our tray, so we had to get up and ask for them. Again, he apologized. Then, when we received our tray, he let us know they had run out of lettuce and gave us potato beet salad instead, without offering us an option first. We ordered the goat stew plate and the grilled chicken plate, both served in to-go containers. For the plates, you get your protein, then a choice of green salad or potato beet salad, along with either white rice or moro rice, which is rice cooked with beans. We chose the moro rice. I've had Caribbean/Dominican food many times before, and it is usually packed with flavor, so I was honestly surprised that this was bland. This definitely feels like a coaching opportunity for the cook to taste the food throughout the cooking process, because a little seasoning and balance can make a huge difference. The grilled chicken portion was generous, and the plantains were delicious. The guanábana/soursop drink was also delicious, and the tamarindo had good flavor, though it had a lot of pulp/flesh in the cup. That said, the chicken and onion sauce were very bland and needed salt. For the prices being charged, the guest experience should feel more polished. Our total came out to $78 for two plates, two drinks, a small side of beans, and plantains. Pretty costly for what we received. Another thing that stood out was the napkins. When we asked for more, we were only given two additional napkins, which felt very stingy, especially when eating saucy dishes like goat stew. It just didn't feel like the best way to treat guests. As a chef and food safety professional, I also noticed behaviors that need coaching, including apron use when going into the restroom, lack of visible handwashing afterward, and bare-hand contact after scratching the head before touching food containers. These are important food safety habits that should be reinforced immediately. Overall, Karibbean Cuisine has good flavor potential and generous portions, but they need stronger operational structure, better order accuracy, improved guest communication, and tighter food safety practices. At this time, I personally would not come back, but I do wish them all the best in their business. I hope they take this feedback as constructive criticism and apply it in a way that helps the restaurant grow, improve the guest experience, and build long-term guests. If I see changes in the future, I would gladly give them another try. Until then, I truly wish them success.

Yes I love the concept I love the look, but I this is a spot I'd take my friend who liked Caribbean and didn't like their meals seasoned. Ordered the one beef and one chicken patty but when. Our order came she informed us they ran out of chicken. Not sure if they make the beef patty there or not? The filling was cool there was definitely seasoning. The crust was good. Everything with the patty reminded me of a JA Patty. I'm not saying they Tower or Tasty but it's good. The brown stew chicken was begging to be a start but ended up like an extra on a movie. The cabbage I wouldn't even call it a side of cabbage more like a garnish of cabbage was missing that mark. The peas and rice I was pleased they used dried peas and not canned and I was pleased they used coconut milk but they didn't use enough and the thyme scallions ginger allspice cloves salt were all missing like a wanted poster. Now we all know oxtails price has increased from dirt cheap high as hell, but oxtails for there price need to undoubtedly be the star of your show. These weren't the star of any show. I provide that information because sadly, the food tasted as if I was served the portions of chicken curry, cabbage, and mixed vegetables that had been sitting in the pots all day or had been reheated from previous days. This truly hurt my hurt as it has been a long time coming for a Caribbean restaurant to arrive in Long Beach. The chicken curry lacked balanced flavor due to it sitting and seemed to have more and more curry added and no other spices to play on the notes from the chicken. So it was just an overcooked, concentrated, high sodium, scotch bonnet(ed), abused curry with meat that was struggling to maintain its right to be chicken but the flavors of chicken had been executed. Second, spoiled cabbage anyone? I knew it as soon as I opened it. It smelled of cabbage that had been forced to over stay its welcome and by the portion size, I was to see the extra servings of it as an award but it just turned into a punishment. I truly believe, or at least want to, believe this was an off day and whoever permitted the "last of.." to be served was just off their game and will read this review and never make these mistakes again. I believe in you and am definitely willing to give this restaurant another try in the future. For now I need to take some time and recover. But please, I rooting for you, believe in you, and know that your love for the food and culture will step back up to the high quality standards it created!

Whoever's in the back making that jerk chicken deserves a raise! Even without the sauce, the…read morechicken was bomb. The sauce is super seasoned and got some spice to it. The festival was super delicious, though a very tiny portion (one one mini size). The veggie mix was perfectly seasoned and tasty. The rice and peas could have used a little more salt (or some Creole season lol), but it was still really good. Overall, this plate was soooo worth the 40-minute drive. I paired it with a Reggae Medley Tropical Rhythms, a yummy juice drink similar to Tampico, but even better. Customer service was fast and welcoming. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, and the vibe feels like a nice neighborhood spot. You can tell it's a community staple.

Totally rude and absurd!…read more Went there as a Uber driver to pickup some food for customer, at first they don't even greet you even though they were not busy at all. After getting there attention all I was there was to pick up food that customer had ordered n than one of the Big mama looking lady said call the customer and tell him we don't have that order. So I've ask let me contact him and find out if they want something else and the whole time she keep saying that call them call them! so I've called and customer didn't answer the call so I've ask nicely is there any food that you lady's can suggest that is similar or popular and she said there is nothing like that. And she walks away and says to bring someone that speak English. What the heck!? What kind of language was I communicating the whole time I was there, like I was speaking Chinese to them. Such a Rude and disrespectful way to treat anyone. If this is the kinda of vibe you get please stay away from this horrible place OMG!
