Unreliable. I told them we were at 40% and to come in 7-12 days (this is documented with an email exchange with Margy). 15 days later, still no delivery. Now we are out of propane. Even worse, Nick, the guy on the phone is extremely rude, and keeps saying "I don't do propane" and things like it isn't his problem, because he just does repairs, and just generally has an attitude that is extremely rude and dismissive on the phone. Even people who can't help can say that they'll do what they can to call someone and try to help. He is the emergency contact at the company, but his tone and mannerism is like I'm just bothering him. Also, I don't trust their math when they fill, although admittedly I cannot prove this, but I will plan on checking the tank regularly if I'm stuck in the contract. Honestly, I prefer to just get out of the contract at this point. He eventually gave me a phone number that leads to another message box, which honestly sounds like the same one as I used to contact him. I feel like I'm going in circles. Update same night: Finally someone helpful called me back. They will deliver tonight. He also doesn't understand why they didn't deliver one week later when I delayed delivery by a week (which he also has documented). Generally, this company needs to get more organized. read more

Horrible. They just don't give a rip about how they leave a customer's home. I had these guys out a couple years ago to provide Propane and install gas logs in my fireplace. They were so screwed up that I decided against doing it. Then I had a whole house generator installed by Tim Kyle Electric- who did a great job at a fair price. Unfortunately they partner with Tevis for Propane. Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee from Tevis show up to install the tank and proceed to get their truck stuck not once but twice- it's what happens when you're too stupid to use the 4x8 sheets of plywood and the outriggers on the truck. The boss had to come pull them out. Ok, stuff happens. Did they come back and fix the mess they made? Nope. Tim Kyle's landscaper had to come fix it. Avoid Tevis! read more

Nicholas M. 03/10/2023 This is a mercenary company AT BEST. They issue "Delivery holds" without communication with the client, despite 10 years of service. They hold onto credit money for months without issuing refunds. I highly recommend that you DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. They overcharge for propane by almost $1.00 per gallon and refuse to believe that their drivers do not consistently leave delivery receipts. Go with SUBURBAN PROPANE OR AMERIGAS. Both of those companies are efficient and reasonable. read more

I love Tevis Propane from the girls in the office to the field Techs. They made a smart move by taking a field tech that has years of experience and put him in the office. Tom oversees all the field techs and already knows what they need before they get to the job most times. My sales lady Bonnie is second to none, she is on it even if I need propane at 2am in the morning. I have 16- 1000 gallon Propane tanks and to 4000 gallon diesel tanks if I call her in the morning she will get a truck out ASAP. As far as paying bills it doesn't matter if I'm buying propane or diesel the office ladies are always a joy to talk to. So I have to say if you need a great Propane company use Tevis and make sure you get Bonnie she is a sweetheart. read more

I moved to a house in 11/2021 which had an existing 500 gallon tank owned by Tevis propane. Tevis charges approximately 30x the tank rental fees other companies I've talked to are charging. About $300 per year. There is no minimum monthly requirement, which is the only mitigating factor here. However, based on what I was told about past usage I should have no trouble meeting the MMR from the other offers I reviewed. I have signed a contract because there is too much propane in the tank to move to another company right now, but I will likely be switching as soon as the level is low enough. This will trigger a $200 early cancellation fee. However that will be more than paid for by getting rid of the high tank rental fee Tevis is charging. On the positive side, Bonnie was very professional and nice to work with. I asked to sign a contract with will-call service and for a year term, and she delivered. However, her boss added a provision that I would have to remove my review to the contract. This was not something I was willing to sign. This review would have been 1-2 stars higher based on them working with me and Bonnie's excellent customer service, but asking me to remove my review sets off all kinds of alarm bells. I would not recommend doing business with this company. read more

Interesting that the last 4 or 5 written reviews were less than stellar. We've had Tevis for years, probably 20+, and never had a problem until recently. A couple of years ago , immediately after the guy came to fill the tank, we noticed a really strong odor of propane. It didn't go away, and we were concerned. Called them, and they sent someone out to check who said it was fine, high humidity making the smell linger or something, and my house is still standing so I guess it was. But they charged me a ridiculous service fee, like several hundred dollars as I recall. I thought that was absurd. The guy had just been there, maybe he didn't seal the tank right, I don't know anything about propane tanks, not my job. It wasn't like we called them out of the blue . Were we supposed to ignore it and wait to see if the house blew up? So the charge irritated me but I was too lazy to switch companies. Since then, though, twice I've gotten bills saying my account is on delivery hold or some such thing because of a past due balance when the bill was paid weeks earlier within 2 days or receipt! The first time I let it go. This time I called and asked for a call back and an apology which never came. I emailed and sent proof of payment a full 2 weeks earlier from my bank and got a 2 line response: "Your payment was received. Your balance is 0." Yeah, I know. Now where's the part where they say "Our bad, sorry to send you past due notices when you're not." ? Seriously, I don't need this. if they can't do their books that's their problem and if they can't treat a customer with respect, I'll be looking for a new supplier. I suppose their excuse will be COVID or something, because that's everybody's excuse for lousy service anymore, but no. They take my money, they need to take responsibility, too. read more

Fees, fees and more fees. If the service was better, the fees wouldn't be so important but when it's only so-so, you wonder what you're paying for. Customer service needs improvement too. read more

Definitely would explore other options. Service isn't that great and you never know when they are coming out. And if you run out b/c they didn't come soon enough (they set the schedule remember), they bill you $70 to "check the tank"... really? Plus, learned the hard way the extra addons as well as the fact that there rates are higher than most. read more

Tevis removed my propane tanks without permission. They claim to have sent letters, but the only ones we received were about pricing to have them refilled. The tanks were over half full! When I called to ask about the situation and have someone come out to the house they would not work around my schedule to come out after 3:30. Terrible customer service. I will be switching companies. read more

It is not often that I write reviews, but I feel that I must in this case. We had just moved into our house in Union Bridge recently and assumed that our propane tank would be filled when it was needed automatically. Well, last saturday we found ourselves without gas for our fireplaces, cooking stove and garage. With one phone call to Tevis, Sam the serviceman was at our house in ONE hour and filled our tank and made sure our pilot lights were safely relit. Remember, this was on a Saturday on a holiday weekend. Thank you Sam and Thank you Tevis read more

Disappointed with service. I set an appointment because my fireplace is not working. I was charged $140 to clean my fireplace and it still doesn't not work . read more

Lost a lot of propane due to their faulty equipment leaking. Tevis refuses to replenish what was lost or provide a credit.

From the very beginning Tevis was extremely professional. Their service rep (Trina) kept me apprised each step of the way for the new tank install . The install went flawlessly. The techs were polite and efficient. Couldn't have gone better. Great company ! read more
