    Charge spot

Nice place to charge. Carl's Jr. is close. Some chargers are faster than the others. Like Ed, we needed to stop here to make it to our destination. Try to use the permanent chargers if they're open, as they're faster.

I was here twice in September, once in the morning and another in the afternoon. There was a transient during one of my visits, but he never bothered anyone. The location was very convenient with 6 stalls and 2 temporary stalls. The second time that I was here, I tried out one of the temporary stalls as I wasn't in a hurry to go anywhere. I was actually getting a pretty decent charging speed. If you're hungry and don't feel like going anywhere, you can eat at Carl's Jr as it shares the parking lot with the charging station. You can even keep an eye on your car while you eat your meal.

Pros: 1. Chargers available when I went 2. Although the only dining choice is Carl's Jr., the location has restrooms and is better than nothing. 3. I'm glad this is here at all, otherwise I wouldn't have enough range to make it from Vegas to Flagstaff. Cons: 1. Not the fast 250 kw charger - only 120kw 2. Location wasn't the best, but also wasn't anything that caused concern for me 3. There are not really many other dining options in the vicinity

OMG! Talk about fake news. Coming into this supercharger in Kingman we thought we would at the very best be kidnapped and at the very worst be murdered. Wrong! We pulled in to find six chargers and two temporary chargers. None were being used. Was the charging rate slow? Absolutely not. We were charging at 375 mph. Didn't see a homeless person in sight. Then we walked across the street to one of the better Chevron gas stations and convenience stores I've ever seen. They had three sit down toilets in the men's bathroom! The convenient store was large absolutely perfectly clean and the staff was more than friendly. Can I give six stars to this place?

Conveniently located off the freeway and next to a Carl's Jr. There is a convenience store located across the street at a Chevron (walking distance). Cracker Barrel is 2.5mi away.

Kingman Visitor Center - 02.16.25 Kingman Visitor Center and Route 66 Museum

    Kingman Visitor Center

This is a fun visitor center with a little something for everyone. Two wonderful gift shops, a…read moresecond floor free museum, a super neat pay museum (that I would strongly recommend), a dog park, and several photo ops. The gift stores had moderate priced items and a nice selection. The free museum gave a nice history of this Route 66 stop. The gem was definitely the pay museum. We learned so much about the history of the area and the dust bowl. As an added bonus was the electric car display. So much fun! We almost skipped this because we were just planning on a short stop. Glad we stayed and explored! We were traveling with an active 6 year old and she stayed engaged throughout. So many fun photo backdrops made this a stop that made our highlight reel from our vacation. Plan to spend at least an hour. Your paid admission to the museum also includes 3 other stops. Not all are open every day. We only made it to one of the 4. Again, good for all ages. Entertaining and informative.

The historic Powerhouse generated electricity from 1909 to 1938. The side of the building has 16 Tesla Superchargers ツ The Visitor Center has a gift shop that carries maps, brochures and mostly American-made souvenirs. They have a nice selection of stickers and postcards. They also sell stamps so it was perfect for the postcards I was sending. The stickers are my latest collection (it doesn't take up much space LoL!) Upstairs is the Route 66 Museum (stairs and elevator are available for use). Before heading to the museum, stop to read about the Guardian Angel of Route 66 StoryFile Experience, Angel Delgadillo. He has a very special relationship with the road called Route 66. The employees are friendly. They also have clean restrooms. Before leaving the parking lot drive through the Route 66 roadside attraction and snap a photo of your car underneath the sign. A "must see" attraction for Route 66 travelers in Kingman... highly recommended! Review #3695

Nowhere on their website or booking information does it state that local residents are not allowed to rent rooms. If that is truly their policy, it should be clearly disclosed before someone takes the time to book or show up expecting to stay. The front desk employee was rude, dismissive, and completely unprofessional while explaining this supposed policy. Instead of handling the situation politely or offering any kind of reasonable explanation, I was treated like I had done something wrong simply for living in the area. As a paying customer, being turned away simply because of where I live was frustrating, embarrassing, and completely unacceptable. Policies like this should be clearly stated up front instead of surprising guests at the front desk after they've already made plans. Because of this experience, I will never rent a room from a Best Western again--even when I'm traveling on the road. Customer service and transparency clearly aren't a priority here.

From there, I spied 66 Trains in a small building sharing the parking lot with Carl's. Score! While my wife went to Carl's, I went in to the train store. Inside I met the proprietor Ben who is super friendly, knowledgeable, and generous. It's a small store, but it's got enough to get a person started or progressing along in the hobby. If you're thinking of taking your hobby to the next level (like converting from DC to DCC), Ben appears to be willing and able to discuss the merits of such a decision, the nuts and bolts of doing so, and I'm sure would be able to special order whatever you might need to grow your involvement in the hobby. I took Ben's recommendation on a pack of HO-scale couplers, picked out a used HO-scale coal tender from among a box of used rolling stock (all priced very fairly), one of each of some impulsive-buy honey sticks on the counter and a Tootsie pop for my sweet tooth. Ben only charged me for the couplers and tender and gifted me the sweets even though they were marked with a price per stick. This unplanned stop made my day! Good to meet you, Ben! Good luck on the success of your train shop! Catch you next time I pass through Kingman!
