I called Mr. Tire on a Thursday afternoon, and they were able to schedule me in late Friday morning, pretty impressive considering I know of several dealerships with much larger garages that are usually scheduling 2-3 weeks behind. After handing over the keys, I sat down in the nice clean waiting area, and less than 5 minutes later they had my car into the garage. Less than 10 minutes after that, a mechanic came in to explain that the cause of my annoying noise was as simple as the muffler clamp (which had just been installed by another shop 2-3 months earlier) needing tightened down a bit more. No charge, and I was back on the road, noise-free no more than 20 minutes after I had pulled into the lot. I'm sure there are lots of good mechanics in Cumberland, but Mr. Tire is remarkably easy to work with, and seems to be run by some nice, honest guys. They'll definitely be my go-to mechanic for the rest of my time in the area.

I check the brake fluid level, it's topped off. I call DK Tires and tell them about the sensor. They tell me it's probably bad, they'll replace it. Ok. Brought my car back in. The replaced the sensor...and when I start my car my whole dash lit up with error codes. I went back into the office, told them what was going on and they proceeded to tell me that it was like that when I came in. I honestly couldn't believe what they were telling me. As a last ditch effort I asked them to at least take a look at it again since I didn't feel comfortable driving it with a stability control error coming up. One of the mechanics started yelling at me in front of my 5 year old daughter, telling me to leave or he was going to tow my car. At this point I called the police and explained the situation. They came and I told them what was going on. I knew that there wasn't much they could do but they took a report, told me to file charges at district court and they followed me home to make sure I made it back ok.
