They ordered wrong parts and it took 12 days to repair. Test drove it and didn't take the pet cage off of the rack and scratched the heck out of paint on the back door. Charged $45 to asses damage on top of the over $1k to replace the water pump. They charged a "freight fee"? What's that? If you come from out of town DONT go there, they have you and they know it. Traveling late at night from Dulles Airport to Deep Creek Maryland we hit a wild animal someone in the fog in the middle of nowhere coming from Dulles Airport. The next morning we realized our rental car bumper was damaged and called Garrett Automotive to see if they might easily fix it for us. They fit us right away- even drove us to and from our hotel - and did a perfect job. We were so appreciative and their efforts made our trip so much easier!! Note to anyone reading this : alert your out of town guests that driving to Deep Creek late at night is not recommended - plus the beautiful countryside - is just so lovely to see. read more

I was on vacation with my family in Deep Creek, Maryland when I noticed a weird sound coming from my drivers side brake. I thought to myself just what I needed. I took my car to Garrett Automotive thinking the worse and left my car with them. No need to worry, the people at GA are as honest as the day is long. These guys saved my ass! I was headed south to pick up a canoe locally when my the temp gauge on my truck started to fluctuate. In a very short time it pinned on high. Luckily I was just a few hundred yards from their shop. As expected on a Friday before a holiday weekend they were shorthanded and busy. I waited for a half hour before there was someone available to look at my truck, just in time for lunch. They got on it after lunch and had me rolling in a few hours. Great service. My nephew came to Deep Creek Camp Grounds pulling his camper from Passadena MD.He arrived late Thursday evening and while trying to park his camper on the assigned site,his gear shift stopped working on his truck.Early Friday morning we called Garrett Automotive.After explaining the situation,My nephew was told that they would look at his truck even though they were short 2 people and very busy.They understood he was upset and that he and his wife needed to get back to work on Monday. Garrett Automotive helped me out big time when I had car trouble on vacation. I took my car there on a Friday when I arrived, and I had to leave Sunday. They looked at it right away and let me know the issue. The mechanic came in on Saturday (his day off) to help me out since I was leaving Sunday! Been a customer for several years but service has deteriorated. They advertise as a NAPA service center but don't use NAPA parts because the closest NAPA store is 25 miles away with no delivery. People think they're getting a NAPA 2 year warranty on parts and labor, come to find out their parts came from somewhere else. Also, Garrett advertises their own 1 year parts and labor warranty online, however, when I had to get a defective alternator replaced, (that Garrett installed 10 months prior), I was told that 1) my alternator wasn't a NAPA part and 2) I had to pay AGAIN for 2 hours labor. When I questioned this, I was then told that they would 'split' the labor cost with me. The alternator itself was free. I went ahead and unhappily paid 'my half' of the labor cost and left. As I'm driving home, I then discover that my ac isn't working (possibly from the alternator problem), so I call Garrett to ask about my ac and get an attitude from them. Needless to say, I'm done with them. They do NOT honor their labor warranty as advertised, their service is below par and their customer service is crap. Save yourself a headache and go somewhere better for automotive service. read more
