My mother and I had the most phenomenal time at Hard Rock Live to watch the legendary Earth Wind & Fire perform all their hits! There doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the house from what I observed. I would like to give a big shout out to the ushers for their amazing assistance. They were warm, attentive, and incredibly accommodating of my mom and her rollator walker. One staff member even went above & beyond by bringing the rollator straight to us from the storage area the moment she saw us getting up at the end of the show. As short people watching from the floor seats, we appreciated the large clear video monitors. The sound mix was great too. EWF's iconic horn section, funky basslines, legendary guitar riffs, and smooth harmonies came through crisp and clear without any distortion. Plus, the restrooms and refreshment stands are conveniently located and easy to access. Hard Rock Live is a fantastic venue, and we can't wait to come back for another show!

I was accompanied by my mother, who relies on a walker, and my husband when I approached the customer service desk to obtain a player's club card. Instead of being treated with basic courtesy and respect, I felt racially profiled and singled out. A very rude employee, accompanied by another equally rude employee, demanded to see my identification. When I politely asked why, neither person could provide me with a reasonable explanation. To make matters worse, a third individual redirected the female employee to another Black woman who looked absolutely nothing like me. She was nearly a foot taller, wore glasses, a wig, and a coat. There was no reasonable explanation for why I was being associated with someone who clearly did not resemble me. The male employee then demanded my identification once again, and at that point, I firmly refused. What hurts me the most is not just how I was treated, but the complete lack of compassion, professionalism, or even a simple apology afterward. Not one person acknowledged what had happened or made any effort to make things right. I left feeling humiliated, frightened, and deeply hurt. I was there with my mother, who needs assistance walking, and my husband. We should have been able to enjoy our time without feeling intimidated, targeted, or unsafe. I cannot begin to describe how frightening it was to feel that something terrible might happen to me simply because of the way I was being treated. No customer should ever have to experience that kind of fear or humiliation. This experience has left me with an overwhelming sense of sadness and disappointment. It is heartbreaking to walk into an establishment expecting to be treated with dignity and instead leave feeling degraded, unwelcome, and afraid. There are no words to adequately express how disappointed I am. I would never want a friend, family member, or anyone else to experience what I experienced. They have lost my business, my trust, and my recommendation--permanently.

Of all the years that Thunder Valley Casino has been open, why is it more fun every time I go! I used to frequent here 10 years ago... the crowd 10 years ago was my crowd and we used to meet up on the weekends.. the football freak in me back then used to also come here with my then other half and we'd watch football to keep up with our fantasy team while having a drink. We liked that they had multiple TVs with all the games going at once. Today, the casino is still beautiful inside, with glowing slot machines and a lively buzz everywhere you turn. It got crowded as it turned to evening and I could smell smoke on the gaming floor since indoor smoking is allowed there. This atmosphere was exactly what I came for, though. I started with a few slot machines. I had great luck on one, while another took quite a few presses of the button before I decided to move on, lol. I also enjoyed a whiskey sour and a vodka cranberry while catching up with my friend. We stopped at Thunder Cafe for a late lunch, and I went with breakfast: eggs, hash browns, bacon, and toast. My friend ordered pizza, and I almost regretted my choice when I saw it! Service was great, and after eating, we headed back out to play. Thunder Valley has card games too, but I'm still too intimidated to sit down at a table, especially when my friend doesn't play cards either. Roulette felt more my speed, and I happened to hit kinda big on that one. YAY! Later, I was back at the slots when I noticed a woman nearby doing really well. She was rubbing her machine and talking sweetly to it, so I giggled and gave it a try myself. Wouldn't you know it, I won big there, too! I guess don't knock it until you try it, lol. It actually reminds me of Sunsplash, but not as fancy, understandably. Still, my kids and their friends have a great time here every time we come and swim and play, no matter that there's "only" a huge rec pool and 2 slides and a kiddie splash play structure, plus a lap pool that's not open for rec swim time. Still very fun all the same. Being end of the summer season, it was pretty empty on the day we came and we almost have the whole place to ourselves! With only a couple of weekends left that this place is open until next summer, I'm glad we decided to have fun here one last time. The pool is super clean (see pics), and lots of seating bc so few people are here, so all empty lounging chairs and "Roman" awning/tents. Plenty of picnic tables too, with umbrellas for shade. Overall, we really like this aquatic complex, I'm very thankful that the City of Sacramento built this nicer and still very new because it's really well-kept and maintained. It's great for the community and especially for kids and young adults!
