My recent service experience at the Tesla Service Center on Arden was disappointing enough that I'll be using the Rocklin location for any future service.
I brought my 2015 Model S in on 7/3/26 to have the updated screens installed because my main display would randomly shut off, and none of the reset procedures resolved the issue. The screen replacement appears to have been completed successfully, and I appreciated the loaner vehicle they provided. Unfortunately, everything after that left a lot to be desired.
Before pickup, the service team agreed to charge my vehicle since I had just charged the loaner the day before. Approximately eight hours later, I arrived to find my vehicle still at a very low state of charge. As I was leaving the service center, the car prompted for a software update. Since we needed to charge the vehicle first, we postponed the update until we returned home after getting it charged... or so we thought.
We then drove out of our way to a Supercharger, only to discover the vehicle would begin charging for about a minute before displaying a charging error and stopping. We tried multiple charging stalls and several basic troubleshooting steps, but the problem persisted. After spending nearly three hours trying to get the vehicle to charge, we ultimately had to have it towed home and use our home charger. Fortunately, after installing the software update at home, the Supercharging issue was resolved.
Unfortunately, that wasn't the end of the problems. Since the service appointment, my hazard lights no longer function. I use them every morning while parked on a narrow, busy street to open the gate at my workplace, so this is more than an inconvenience. It creates a legitimate safety concern while I'm stopped in traffic. It appears that something may have been left disconnected during the repair, and now I have no choice but to return to the same service center to correct an issue that did not exist before my appointment... IF THEY EVER DECIDE TO RETURN OUR PHONE CALLS AND MESSAGES WE'VE SENT THROUGH THE APP.
Equally frustrating was the complete lack of customer service. Reaching an actual person by phone was nearly impossible. After navigating the phone prompts to reach the service department, the phone would simply ring until it eventually disconnected. Both my husband and I made multiple attempts to speak with someone in management, yet none of our calls were ever returned.
When we picked up the vehicle, we requested to speak with a manager and ended up waiting nearly an hour before anyone came out. By that point, the entire service department had already closed and the doors were locked. Waiting that long for basic assistance, coupled with the inability to reach anyone by phone afterward, made an already frustrating experience even worse.
I understand that not every repair goes perfectly, and I know unexpected issues can happen. What I do expect is clear communication, reasonable customer service, and for my vehicle to be returned in a safe, ready-to-drive condition. Between the lack of communication, the failure to charge the vehicle as promised, the charging issue that left us stranded, the new hazard light issue, and the inability to reach anyone for assistance, this experience fell well below the level of service I expected from Tesla. read more
