Shoutout to Tesla Energy for recently installing my solar panels! Thanks to them, I'll be saving big $$$$ on my energy bill this summer. The first step was clearing space out in my garage to make as much room as possible for the electric boxes to be installed on the wall. My garage is fairly small (which can only fit one car), but there was enough room to be made for the electric boxes, plus I got a new smoke detector installed in my living room by them. They started the job at around 7:00am on 6/12/23 and everything was installed and completed by 2:00pm. They did have to come back again the next day to do a thorough inspection, however. I'm very happy with how quickly they got it done and I can't wait to see how much I'll be saving on my energy bills in the future! read more

They admitted that they sold us a powerwall and solar panels that we would never need. Communication is so poor as to be nonexistent. I have a problem and diagnosed by Tesla and my roofer. There are many leaks in my roof due to the penetration of the solar panels. They are not covering the damag;es and I don't own them. They were installed on 2015 they say warranty was done in 2016. They came out to take down my panels and get them up to date with many complaints from me. After that now I have leaks. They denied my claim. This is ridiculousand they admitted it was from the solar panel mounts. Normally, a company at least tries to give you a good impression when they're trying to sell you something, and then the crappy experience comes after they've sold you a product. Nope, not with Tesla Energy. The crappy experience comes from the beginning. I got an email on August 10 from Tesla asking me to RSVP to an event to learn more about Tesla Energy. "Sure, why not," I thought. I RSVP, and get an email confirming the RSVP. A few days later, on August 14, I get a text message inviting me to RSVP to an event to learn more about Tesla Energy. "Huh? Didn't I already RSVP to this?" I thought. I double check my email, and it's for the same event on the same date. I text back and say I already RSVPed. I'm told that the RSVP in their system is for an event that happened in July, that I never RSVPed for and that I never attended, because it was in California. I send a screenshot of my RSVP confirmation and say that I'm confused because I never RSVPed nor attended any event in July. I get a call from the guy who says he can't see screenshots via text and asks me to email him. So he sends me an email, I reply back with screenshots of the invitation email and my RSVP. I never hear back from him. The event is on August 17, at the Tesla showroom clear across town, so it takes me about 40 minutes to get there due to some mild traffic. The email gives no detail other than it's a Tesla Energy event from 9am-11am. I assume they'll have Tesla Energy reps that I could ask questions of, and maybe they'll have some beverages or snacks. I arrive around 9:30am, and the place is empty. The one Tesla employee up front asks if he can help me, and I tell him I'm here for the Tesla Energy event and he says they already started the 9am presentation and that I would have to wait for the 10am presentation. OK. So I wait until 10am, and nothing. Around 10:15am, people start filtering out of the room they did the presentation in. I walk in and sit down at a folding table and see people asking the Tesla Energy people some questions. I wait for another 10 minutes, and the people in the room seem to have zero intention of starting any presentation. I go up and ask a Tesla Energy person when the 10am presentation is going to start, and he says there is no 10am presentation. He says I was given wrong information and that there is just one presentation at 9am, and that the email shouldn't have given an end time since it's just the one presentation at 9am that just turns into a Q&A session. At this point, I'm quite frustrated, since it seems I have just wasted two hours of my time, plus at least another half hour to drive back home. The guy seemed sympathetic and asked if he could answer any questions. We chatted for a bit, and I decided to pay the $100 refundable deposit to go forward with the quote. I get an email saying I need to go into my Tesla account to upload my bill. So I do that the very same day. There is an option to connect directly to my NV Energy account and the Tesla website says that's the best way, so I do that. I get an email saying Jahn will be my advisor and my one point of contact for Tesla Energy. Three days later, on August 20, I get an email from Tesla saying I still need to upload my energy bill and to log into my Tesla account to do so. I log in, and the website says I have no action items outstanding and there are no options for me to upload a bill. I take screenshots of the email and my Tesla account and email Jahn, saying I'm confused as to what I need to do. She emails me back and says that Tesla didn't get my bill and that I need to upload it. Clearly, she didn't look at the screenshots I provided. I email her back saying that I linked Tesla to my NV Energy account since Tesla said that was the best way, and I asked if she could check on that method. She emails me back saying they didn't get the information and that I need to upload a bill. So I'm still frustrated at this point, and I ask to get my $100 deposit back. No response. Over 48 hours later, on August 23, still no response. I send another email, asking, "Hello?" and then I get a phone call immediately. She says I sent her some Excel files that she can't use and that I need to provide my NV Energy bill. I tell her she must be confusing me with someone else because I never sent her Excel files. She says she needs to check, and then says that it wasn't me. She says she never looked at the screenshots. I tell her that is obvious based on her responses. I tell her that I don't have much confidence that this process is going to go smoothly or well at all, based on all the negative reviews of Tesla and how poorly my own experience has been going, even before getting a quote. She then tries to tell me that she wanted to understand why I wanted to get my $100 back. And apparently Yelp has a character limit, so I can't write more. I think their overall rating says it all. According to the sales person (sales is quite responsive of course) they've gone self serve to be the least expensive in town. Their self serve pushes you to keep moving along so you don't have time to decide. I decided I wanted to compare. I canceled before engineering came to check roof. 3 other quotes (happy to share company names if someone wants. Tesla was the most expensive. Not really sure that information was accurate about being self service so least expensive. They have not refunded the $100 refundable deposit. Had to go to my credit card to have them work on it. What a shame. Bought my car in 2014. They were awesome. Staff knew your name if you stopped in. My key fob battery would die back in they'd just give you a new one. Need to pay attention to your billing. Its a ten day pay time frame if using Wells Fargo so your bank needs a good time frame on paying your bill for tesla solar. Plus don't trust tesla, they will under-estimate your needs and then try to sell you another big package to collect moree money from you. Be very careful opnhiring this company they will not give you any break. Your bill wil always haave late opayments on it showing late payment even though you made a early payment. Been going through this crap for over 6 years now, even filed a complaint with the BBB and Utah Attorney General office and got no where. So be careful. read more

Worst experience Ever. Nobody cares. Nobody knows what they are doing. A real shame to the Tesla brand. Well, I own a Tesla car, I love it. Fantastic car. So, stupid me thinks: "let's go with Tesla for solar, with the cool powerwall and all the fixin's..." All in all a $20K+ project. Submit my application...silence. After 2-3 days a Steven introduces himself as my central contact. So far so good. I tell them explicitly that the install would have to happen in 2019 for me to get my full 30% federal tax credit. No answer. Silence. I ask what the status of the project is: no answer. By now I worry that Steven touched the wrong wires and zapped himself to electric Tesla-death.... So I am sending E-Mails to the the central E-Mail address... only to be ignored for days again. I send another E-mail. A Perla Zamora from the Las Vegas team calls me to apologize for the the delay...alright. Lot's of getting ignored and confused people asking me for the same pictures of my breaker box over and over. Lots of stupid details. End of story: They couldn't install in 2019 because they dragged the process along forever with ignoring me and lackluster people who were simply clueless. So now the sales predator from CA calls me to somehow sell me for a 2020 install. I tell them that I'd be losing 4% in federal tax credit and quite frankly I want Tesla to discount me at least that. (actually I asked for a slightly bigger discount for the hours of insanity I have spent on these people) Declined. Not even 4%. Nothing. Their stance is Tesla did everything right. Customer is wrong. Solar City installed my solar panels on my roof several years ago. Tesla bought solar city. During the monsoon grade rain we had over Labor Day weekend, I had a water leak from my roof running through my chimney/ fireplace and into my living room. I called a roofer and was told that there were several roof tiles that were severely cracked. These tiles were under the solar panels. I was also informed that only a solar company is authorized to handle or remove these panels. I immediately attempted to reach out to Tesla. This started a whole new nightmare! Using theTesla app, there was minimal information available. The phone number was an automated system directing you to the app. The app did not offer any options that pertained to my issue. I found an email address and reached out via email. Days went by before getting a reply that had NOTHING to do with my issue/ inquiry! I replied and "dummied" it down so a fifth grader could understand and replied! Days later, I got a reply referring me to the app with directions where to go. After following the directions in the app which was just a wild goose chase, I used the notes section to describe the issue for the FIFTH time, since once again there was no drop down addressing my issue. DAYS LATER.... I received an email addressing an issue that had NOTHING to do with my inquiry! ONCE AGAIN... I had to "dummy " it down . IN THE MEANTIME I COULD SEE THROUGH THE APP THAT MY REQUEST WAS RECEIVED! THERE WAS NO OPTION TO CHECK THE STATUS TODAY, I received a phone call/ VM.....HIP HIP HOORAY! An email confirmation was sent after the VM I returned the call and left a VM. Then followed up with a lengthy email. The email only added to my frustration and anger. To start with: They are unable to come out until late October They are going to charge me $500 to take them down and put them back They need to wait 30 days before they put them back During this time, I will not be generating any energy BUT I must still pay my bill Because of this, my energy bill will be SIGNIFICANTLY higher I WILL NOT BE REIMBURSED FOR ANY OF THIS In the meantime, I am just an average rainfall away from my roof collapsing. I have not had a decent nights sleep for THREE weeks worried that my house will be flooded and my roof will collapse! I never had an issue with Solar City. Tesla Solar getting the system installed was easy and quick but when It came down to a piece in the solar panel malfunctioned. That's when we experience terrible service. We called initially to schedule someone to come out and repair but misscommunicated with us the date. Orginally told us they would come out in 2 weeks. So we made sure we were home that day. Day comes and we called in the morning to see exactly what time they will be coming and said "well actully the date is 3 weeks from now" I said that's not correct and insane it would take that long for someone to just check it out and see what's wrong. So they compromised and came a week later .... week goes by and made sure we were home again... called the morning of and they said it's not till the a week after (lost my temper at that point) went back & forth with this nasty customer service and there was nothing they can do. Finally they came the next week and found out what the problem was and needed to order a part where the technician said shouldn't be no more than 1-2weeks. Called 2 weeks later to see where the part was and they said it takes a month for it to come in. At that point I'm not surprised they are not consistent with their dates. It's been a couple of high electricity Bill's (middle of summer btw). I did ask will I be able to get reimbursed and said "since I have the performance guarantee they can do something about it" today my solar has been fixed so I called about the reimbursement and they dont do reimbursements only a 2 year performance examination and if by the 2 year I didnt receive the promised watts saving they will reimburse me for that amount. If your considering Tesla(solar city) for your home, go over the warrenty before agreeing. Customer Serive needs A LOT of work and need to be consistent through all departments. Clearly in scheduling is a mess and needs to be addressed. Nearly 3 months to get my solar panels up and running again. Ridiculous for a company this big. Paid 12k for these panels! Just talked to a lady who works for customer service at Tesla, and she chose to go with another solar installer for her house. I do not recommend these guys. Their people have vandalized my house and now their system is broken again and they still want me to pay them while it is down. They refused to give me a referral bonus even when a representative told me I would be taken care of and that they would note the profile. Seemed like a very smooth process at the time and you guys came right out and did the install within a few weeks. That was on May 6th. Inspection was May 12th which you said was actually done on May 18th. I have sent numerous emails and phone calls to find out what the status is and today you said that I just got lender approval which is a lie. I was approved months ago and have made 2 payments on a system that is not even running yet. I am losing money and patients with you guys. Now I have to wait 5 weeks for Nevada Power or more because you are just now getting paperwork together to send to them. This is absurd! I want it to be clear, I had every negative experience of others getting solar explained to me for nearly 2 years. So I was not expecting the best with my order, design and install. But let me tell you, I am over the moon about every step of the way. I had some delay, but it was caused by the COVID19 lock down. When it was approved to move forward with the install. Everything with fabulous. The communication with updates, installers, inspectors and even the follow up sales folks that I contacted to get info about power walls! I'm excited and can't wait for the all clear to switch everything on!!! Filled out online stuff. Was recommended a 12 kWh system based on my bill average. Tesla came back to me saying an 8 kWh would work, I trusted them. Big mistake. System took six months to install, many missteps on their part. First two electric bills are more than they were last year without solar... by A LOT! Tesla finally tells me numbers to expect out of my system, only to realize it wouldn't power a small apartment. We live in a 300 sq ft, three story home with two air conditioners and a pool. Are they crazy? Fought with them and they took a legal stance of not helping me until one year from now with a re evaluation. Finally our SC panels are turned on this week :) It's been a long slow process and def worth it because just in two days we have saved $5 already! Ku'lei has been wonderful and if you need panels and want them for free the funding is still available right now in NV. You need to have great to high credit, own your home (no renters) and want to save money! I love how nice all the people from SC are. The survey guys, the install guys, the customer service people and of course my sweet sweet sales lady! We love how many panels we were able to load onto our house and funny thing is you can't see them from the street due to the way the sun travels. Bonus on not taking away from our curb appeal. Getting installed today !! Yay .. Super excited . Signed all docs 1.5 months ago .. So fast to install , now I have to wait on NV Power to come out , that is completely out of Solar City's hands .. I have read some of these reviews, so I think that needed to be said . I do know that this company believes in Saving the Planet and at least they are trying to help people take responsibility in reducing their carbon footprints . So generations behind us can breathe clean air . My install crew was crew called The AC crew w Alphonso as the lead , he was fabulous . This man knows his stuff . He also has a great crew , they work well together . My install was done by 4 pm and it was 26 panels . As far as the estethics , let's be honest .. They are the best looking panels out there .. Those silver edged panels or the panels that stick up off the roof .. Now that's a good look ! Not ! Going solar is the wave of the future ! Take responsibility for reducing your carbon footprint .. Lease System: 2 hours on hold! Customer service....not so sure that is the correct term. Recently my system went completely DOWN. I was told it would take 14 days OR LONGER to get the part to get it up and running again. What happened to "Over Night Fed-Ex?" They sell these systems without any kind of service parts on hand? I was told my Inverter was bad. Not quite accurate. A board in the inverter malfunctioned and needed replacement. Not all that unusual with electronics. NOT HAVING REPLACEMENT PARTS ON HAND IS. What good is a service department if they have no parts on hand to service their systems. Does S/C even have repairmen in Las Vegas or is that another UFO sighting? After 14 days they sent a gentleman out to replace the faulty circuit board. I think he said he was from Reno. (The district manager for Las Vegas was "IN" Texas?" It took all of 15 minutes to replace. Why don't they keep replacement parts on hand and service tech's in Vegas?? Funny thing was no one from S/C came out to inspect and explain what had happened, there was no communication, unlike when they're trying to get you to sign that 20 year contract they're your best friend. As a retired maintenance supervisor all I can say is SolarCity is not operating as someone I would have wanted a 20 year relationship with. Funny thing about their contract, It states they warranty the system BUT nothing about repairing it in a timely manner. 14 days is not a timely manner. At least NV Energy hops on repairs almost immediately when there is a problem. The real proof of a companies commitment is how they handle the service after the sale. FAIL If you market yourself as an alternative to NV Energy and clean energy then STEP UP. read more

I advise that you choose a different company if you want to help the environment. Solar City is one of the worst companies I've had to deal with. They are not accountable to their own contract and expect that their customers perform project management to get issues fixed. This is the situation I've found myself in. Solar City did not have qualified staff to perform installation of the solar panels. It failed inspection from NV energy and worse, caused leaks in the roof. A company that feels accountable for their mistakes would do everything to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, this is not Solar City. I had to show 4 different sets of people the issue with the roof leak. I don't know what they do with the reports filed but they might have gone directly to trash. When they finally sent somebody out to fix the leaks, it was with the instruction to be as cheap as possible. They did not fix all the issues related to the leak. To add insult to injury, the Billing Department kept sending bills demanding that I pay them even though the system was down for repair. They violated their own contract terms by billing me. Their interpretation is that the roof leak is somehow my responsibility. Without fixing all the damage, they are now asking to reinstall the system without any assurances that they won't cause another leak. Solar City believes they have the right to damage my house and have me pay their bills in the process. This is a terrible company for solar power. read more

No other company does that. They will sell you LOTS OF panels and in your mind you think you'll be saving LOTS of money. WRONG! Lots of panels mean LOTS OF MONEY FOR THEM, NOT YOU!! Also, if you do get panels, make sure that they 1. Give you pigeon abatement otherwise you'll have pigeons roosting under the panels. 2. Don't allow their roofers on the roof - they broke so many tiles and WOULD NOT take responsibility for it. 3. They don't care about you or the issues that you have with the panels - we had 3 inverters out and several broken panels - after many calls. And screaming matches-they FINALLY came out. Two issues in this review that culminate to my one star review... 1. Customer Service. I am a power purchase agreement (PPA) customer. In late August 2019, a contractor accidentally snapped the antenna off my inverter. I reported it to Tesla then. Almost 3 1/2 months later, Tesla does not have the resources, nor do they have the professional customer service, to send me a $5 part. One word for their customer service: inept. 2. Price Gouging. After renovating a home in early 2013, we decided to go with then Solar City (now Tesla) for a PV system on our home. We're given the option of buying the system for $32K or becoming a PPA customer. In the face of renovation bills, I let the salesman talk us into a PPA agreement. Was a good deal then: we could get PV on our roof and paid Solar City approximately half the retail rate for our electricity. At the end of year five, we were given the option to buy the system. I missed the deadline at the end of year five, but contacted them recently at the end of the year six for a payoff quote. My PPA agreement said the system would be worth $15.8 K or fair market value whichever is higher. We received a quote from Tesla, and it was $24K... 50% higher than that listed in our PPA agreement. Over the course of several months, I contacted Tesla customer service in an effort to find someone to discuss the exorbitant cost with me. They could never get anybody on the phone to have this conversation. Had the salesman told me that the $32K system would cost me $34k six years later, I would've decided to max out credit to buy the system or go with another provider. Let's not forget that Solar City took approximately $21K in federal and state tax credits, so the net system cost then was about $11K. In the end, Tesla's cost estimate for a six-year-old depreciated PV system is $34K ($10k paid over 6 years plus $24k). Makes a lot of sense, only if you work for Tesla and need to recoup all of your losses. Some executive must be getting paid to gouge customers. read more

The High-roller Installation team and their team lead Paul, nicknamed Apex was professional and courteous, efficient and respectful, hardworking and conscientious. They showed up on time, ready to work, and greatly exceeded expectations. They are very good at what they do. Their knowledge and expertise is easy to see. My only advice to anyone that is so lucky to have these installers show up is to get out of the way and let them do what they do. They are the best of the best and worth their wait in gold. The Tesla black panels with the angled frames differentiate themselves from all the others we've seen. The process was seamless and we really appreciate that. read more

Tesla needs to own up to their poor customer service and lack of knowledgeable installers. Roof is now leaking due to solar panel installation; however, they cannot own up to it until the first available appointment which is in June 2020. Well this is currently December 2019. Better hope Mold doesn't happen due to your error, lack of empathy and lack urgency. By then repairs will definitely be more than the roof. read more

Solar city, Solar City Tesla to be exact. I have to give 5 stars and if possible would give more. I want to name an outstanding and hands down one of the most honorable and giving person I have had the pleasure knowing is one Mr. Don Williams from Solarcity Tesla. Don not only met our family's needs but exceeded our expectations. Listen please, in the world of shady salesman and crummy back door scams, there is still a someone who tows the line and stands above most and that is Don Williams at Solarcity Tesla. During a family emergency or crisis as it was, Don not only came to our home in the late late afternoon, Don called and checked in on us a few days after our first meeting, called and checked on us multiple times there after. And Don wasn't checking on our Solar, No he was being a decent human being and in the background Don was finding a solution to our energy consumption and working with his engineers to design a solar energy system that would produce at our current consumption rate. We had been told previously by unmentioned companies that we would never be able to have Solar as the roof wasn't big enough and we used too much energy. After a month Don called and asked if he stop by as he was in the neighborhood. When Don stopped in it was late afternoon, it was just mom and I as Dad was in the Hospital and not expected to live. Don asked how Dad was and how we were holding up, then he broke the news that he got a design and solution passed and approved for Solar. Don went out into the backyard and said " its not often that you see someone take care of their elderly parents like you are doing now, your doing the right thing and mom and dad need your help, keep up the good work." I had and still are taking care of and helping my elderly parents. And there wasnt a time more Needed than when Don said to me, i needed a lift up emotionally.... Im in tears writting this review, and Don if you come across this, you are always welcome here and have a friend with us. I am and my family is blessed to have come to know you Don.
