Turns out our dog was having an allergic reaction, they gave her a steroid shot and she was quickly much better. We are so grateful for Dr Kuiper and his vet team! ORIGINAL: I have been through 4(!!) vets in the last 10 years living in SE Michigan. It's not that I'm picky, I just love my dog very much and know what I want and don't want. Dr Kuiper at Macomb Center Vet is top tier! The whole vet team is wonderful really! Dr Kuiper takes lots of time to explain things well, answering all questions GENUINELY. He doesn't push unnecessary RX or procedures. BUT, he's willing to discuss and listen, and ultimately do whatever is best for you and your pet. No money grab here. No fear mongering here. It is so comforting as a pet parent to have a vet who has been with your animal since the day you adopt them and that is constantly in contact with any local ER vets and keeps up to date records with the vet from Omaha. They were quick to respond to my email inquiries, honest with their costs and procedures (which were very fair), and setting up an initial appointment was simple. You can book an appointment using their online portal, or call/contact them directly. They had a good range of available booking slots, and we were able to set one up within a very reasonable time frame. The Family Paws Veterinary Clinic was easy to find, it's located in the corner spot of the strip mall, found at 22 mile and VanDyke Rd; so there is plenty of parking. The front of the Clinic is full windows, and the interior was neat, clean and organized. The staff greeted me immediately, and were great with my 9 week old pup. From the quaint waiting area up front, you could clearly view the unisex restroom and a couple exam rooms to the left, while there were more exam rooms around a corner at the other side. My pup and I were brought to our room after a short wait, everything there was also well cleaned and organized, and my appointment ran perfectly on time. From the techs, to the vets, to the reception, all of the staff were friendly, polite and professional. I felt comfortable with my pet in their care. At the end, check out was easy with a clear receipt of what procedures occurred. I am also happy to report a quick response to a lab that had been sent out for testing; I recieved a phone call with the results in less than two days. Overall, I'm very happy with my selection of Family Paws as our new Veterinary Clinic, and we have already booked our pup's next appointment with them.

Despite having a bad diagnosis for my cat, I felt very educated and heard 100% by the doctor. I never felt rushed, and appreciated his honesty and advice. Side note-They are also extremely reasonable on pricing- for the exam, basic bloodwork(blood sugar test/kidney test), an x-ray and meds was only around $250. I've had several situations that made me uncomfortable and ultimately led me to seek care elsewhere. For example, during one visit a vet strongly promoted a product while mentioning their student loan burden. After a surgery, a stitch was left in place; when I brought it up, the way the situation was addressed left me feeling blamed rather than supported. I've also felt pressured toward additional procedures that didn't seem medically necessary for my pet at the time. Lastly, I noticed a big change in my dog's behavior during our visits. She would begin shaking the moment we pulled into the Creekside parking lot. She has never reacted this way at any other vet or location. She's normally a very confident, relaxed dog, so seeing her shake like that was heartbreaking. It was another sign to me that this wasn't the right environment for her. I understand that every clinic has its own approach, but based on my experiences, Creekside is not for me.

The hospital removed the mass, further tests reviewed, "No" Precancerous cells. Hmm a miracle, or a ploy to have the procedure done? Also Frank, the dog was sent home with a partially open wound and no antibiotics. He was taken back a few days later and they claimed further treatment had to be done somewhere because it was beyond their capabilities, they recommended BluePearl. (Great Clinic we discovered) Blue Pearl saw that there was a severe infection, an abscess and necrotic tissue because of the wound being poorly closed as well no meds prescribed following his procedure. The hospital refused any further medical care based on their inability to properly care for a family pet. But made excuses for his condition, jumping, running, ect, he was caged during his entire recovery with a donut on his neck.

This was after multiple days of extreme heat and wildfire smoke in the area, so there were a lot of sick animals needing care. Though they were extremely busy, they immediately took my cat back to check his condition and, because he had a fever, got him comfortable on a cooling pad while we waited for an available room. During the time I waited in the lobby I watched the staff keep their cool in a very stressful situation. They were so incredibly kind to every pet parent who came through the door or called on the phone. They worked diligently the entire time I was there, to make sure every animal was being taken care of and every human was being comforted. My pet spent 2 nights and days at the hospital getting treatment and the staff was so kind every time I called up to check in. They were very understanding and compassionate. The doctor prescribed a mixture of antibiotics and other medications to continue treatment at home and my cat has now made a full recovery, with a clean blood test.

It didn't take long. The second appointment was rough. My dog ate a bottle of my medication. He was having very scary symptoms, but they triaged him to a lower level when another dog came in with seizures. We were there around 6-8 hours, and they ended up keeping our pup overnight for observation and to give iv rx. It was really hard to be in the exam room for so long when given no information and worrying if our dog was going to die. I eventually assumed, well I guess he's going to live, if they are letting us sit around in the room this long without seeing the doctor. In the end, they have taken great care of our dogs and have to triage based on the volume and lack of any other hospital nearby. The price they quoted actually ended up being less than expected, and they refunded us money back. It's clear they care about people and pets.

Today was probably the hardest day of my life. My 12-year-old boxer has been with me my entire…read moreadulthood and grew up with my children. Witnessing his fourth-quarter completely broke my heart -- two weeks ago he was a happy and lively boxer with a small limp; a week later, he was suffering seizures and his legs could no longer support him. It got to a point where he couldn't get up to use the bathroom, and would have accidents while he was laying down. He looked so defeated. Anyway, yesterday I contacted Dr. Fish. He was polite and helpful - my whole family was an emotional mess. He explained the process well, gave us a ton of encouragement, and gave us advice. Know what else he did? He offered a hug. And you have no idea how much I needed a hug right in that moment. Having him euthanized at home was the right decision. A couple of weeks ago when I took him to the vet, he was visibly terrified, shaking and threatening to bite off my hand if I tried to get him out the car. I couldn't bring myself to dragging him into a vet's office, scared in his last moments of life. Instead, we played all day - with some extra end-of-the-road pain pills, he got up on his feet, went in the backyard and chased the ball with the kids. He was happy in his last moments - and Dr Fish made sure that we could let him go peacefully and in his happy place. I'd give him 100 stars if I could.

My baby went peacefully on 3/2/2025 after dealing with many health issues including kidney, liver, heart and gum disease. However, I was able to ensure she had a good quality of life up until the end when she stopped eating. After I saw she could not retain food, I quickly made arrangements and Dr. Fish accomodated us. We celebrate her life and recommend Dr. Fish for his compassion, expertise and gentle service.
