Some familiar faces from Oakland Animal Hospital are now here, including Dr. Booth, which gave us such comfort. We love him. But it was Dr. Hicks whose incredibly kind and loving nature made all the difference during GG's final chapter. The compassion, warmth, and genuine empathy she showed us is something I will never forget. She didn't just care for GG medically, she cared for her spirit, and for our hearts, too. As GG's health began to decline, the support and guidance we received were gentle, reassuring, and filled with humanity. When the time came for GG to go to heaven, Dr. Hicks handled the moment with such grace and tenderness that it brought peace to an unbearable day. She treated GG with dignity, love, and respect, and she treated us with compassion that felt like a hug for the soul. Romeo Veterinary Hospital offers outstanding veterinary care, but even more importantly, they offer heart. They understood how deeply we loved GG, and they honored that love every step of the way. To Dr. Hicks, Dr. Booth, and the entire team, thank you for helping GG leave this world with comfort, love, and peace. You made the hardest experience a little more bearable, and for that, we are forever grateful.

My dog maya is 10 years old. The vet and I have been watching a fatty tumor on her underside on her…read moreright side close to her armpit for a few years. On my last visit March 5th 2026 after consulting with Dr. Dietlin she agreed it was time to remove the tumor. She stated it was a routine surgery and performed quite frequently. Maya's tumor was the size of a softball but again we decided to go forward. The surgery was scheduled March 10th 2026. The main concern of the surgery was once the tumor was removed there would be a very large empty space where the tumor had been. Yes there is always a chance of a complication. Typically as the Dr. explained she mentioned a drain tube would be placed to drain any accumulating fluid in the empty space. However, Dr. Dietlin chose not to do that but performed a different procedure instead. She also stitched a very large wound with dissolving stitches. All through this procedure I put my trust in her choices because aferall she was the Dr. On March 12th 2026 after her release Maya accidentally removed her surgical covering. I couldn't put in back on because she was not feeling good and was even growling at me. So I decide to call the vet and have them put it back on. Dr. Dietling looked at her would and said it all looked ok. That was at 8:30AM. By 9:PM that evening , her covering was bloody and pussing. They blamed me for letting her run around the house and causing the problem. That did not happen. We had her sedated and gates put around the house to keep her confined to one area f the house. On March 13th 2026 at 8:30 am I was at the emergency vet, Faithful Friends was not open on Saturday. Maya had a 103 fever (which by the way Dr. Dietlin told me a 102 fever was normal for a dog). The ER vet disagreed and said Maya was closer to a 104 fever. Maya came down with a serious bacterial infection around her wound. They admitted her to the ER and so it began. My dogs life was now on the line. Dead bacterial skin had to be scraped off her wound. During this procedure the ER vet had called me again and said it was worse than they thought. They had to go in and RE-OPEN the entire wound to remove additional bacteria that had formed. i.e. the entire procedure that Dr. Dietlin performed had to be redone from the beginning. This was devastating news and my dog was now in very serious condition and possibly would not survive. My dog spent 3 days in the ER fighting for her life, not to mention the stress I was going through. The ER hospital was great. They did a phenomenal job repairing what should have been done by Dr. Dietlin at Faithful Friends.. Maya was released on March 16th 2026 sedated and in my care now and a very serious recovery process for Maya. PART 2 I met with Dr. Dietlin to discuss everything that had taken place.I went to her hoping I could get some kind of compensation for a surgery that I thought was not done properly. After talking to the ER vet I felt Dr. Dietlin made some poor choices, partucularly by not putting in a drain after surgery and by telling me her wound looked good when I brought her in the Friday before. She disagreed of course stating there is always a chance of complications. A complication to me was maybe a stitch had to be repaired or something, not a 3 day stay in the ER starting the surgery all over again. She never said to me I'm sorry Maya had to go through that. She said there would be no compensation at all. But she said she would call in a mediator to review the circumstances. The mediator would call me to discuss my side of the story and make a decision. The mediator never called me. The office manager at Faithful Friends called me and said the mediator reviewed the procedure and decided they didn't do anything wrong. He never spoke to me so I asked if I could get a name and number so I could speak to the mediator myself. She said they couldn't do that and I said how do I even know you even spoke to anyone. Was I lied to? I have no proof they spoke to anybody. PART 3 Went and met with the ER surgeon March 23rd 2026. She explained the entire process that took place, showed me pictures of the inside of the wound, and everything Dr. Dietlin did in place of the drain. There were still gaps where fluid could enter and accumulate. Maya went through a lot of unexpected trauma and had thankfully survived. Dr. Dietlin said it was a complication, I think it was a botched surgery. There were no complications with the second surgery. I know this is a lengthy review but wanted to write everything that transpired. Hopefully Dr. Dietlin we be taking different precautionary measures with her future surgeries. As for me, I will not be going back to Faithful Friends in Romeo. And I'm out $5,000 without any compensation from Dr. Dietlin. Very disappointed. It has been one month now and Maya is healing nicely thanks to the Animal Emergency Center in Rochester.
