    Sammy and his Snuggle Puppy

    I've been taking our "Sammy" (Mini Australian Labradoodle) to Veterinary General from Day One after picking him up from the breeders back in February 2022. I know Veterinarian Appreciation Day is a few days away, but I just wanted to jump the gun and express my deep appreciation for the entire staff - top to bottom. Just walking in the door one feels the compassion and love for all animals by the staff. Both Sammy and I are so thankful we found Veterinary General !!!!

    Max is almost 13 years now an he's been going to Dr Barta since he was 7wks old , I wouldn't take him anywhere else ever !!! Most loving vet an staff , max loves them all , I'd recommend them to all , very clean rooms an very sincere , caring , an helpful as well Thank you all for all you've done an do for my bff Max .     We recently brought home a new puppy; and after digging through many online reviews, and having…read moremultiple email conversations with a few different vet clinics, I found that, Family Paws Veterinary, fit our needs best. They were quick to respond to my email inquiries, honest with their costs and procedures (which were very fair), and setting up an initial appointment was simple. You can book an appointment using their online portal, or call/contact them directly. They had a good range of available booking slots, and we were able to set one up within a very reasonable time frame. The Family Paws Veterinary Clinic was easy to find, it's located in the corner spot of the strip mall, found at 22 mile and VanDyke Rd; so there is plenty of parking. The front of the Clinic is full windows, and the interior was neat, clean and organized. The staff greeted me immediately, and were great with my 9 week old pup. From the quaint waiting area up front, you could clearly view the unisex restroom and a couple exam rooms to the left, while there were more exam rooms around a corner at the other side. My pup and I were brought to our room after a short wait, everything there was also well cleaned and organized, and my appointment ran perfectly on time. From the techs, to the vets, to the reception, all of the staff were friendly, polite and professional. I felt comfortable with my pet in their care. At the end, check out was easy with a clear receipt of what procedures occurred. I am also happy to report a quick response to a lab that had been sent out for testing; I recieved a phone call with the results in less than two days. Overall, I'm very happy with my selection of Family Paws as our new Veterinary Clinic, and we have already booked our pup's next appointment with them.

I've had several situations that made me uncomfortable and ultimately led me to seek care elsewhere. For example, during one visit a vet strongly promoted a product while mentioning their student loan burden. After a surgery, a stitch was left in place; when I brought it up, the way the situation was addressed left me feeling blamed rather than supported. I've also felt pressured toward additional procedures that didn't seem medically necessary for my pet at the time. Lastly, I noticed a big change in my dog's behavior during our visits. She would begin shaking the moment we pulled into the Creekside parking lot. She has never reacted this way at any other vet or location. She's normally a very confident, relaxed dog, so seeing her shake like that was heartbreaking. It was another sign to me that this wasn't the right environment for her. I understand that every clinic has its own approach, but based on my experiences, Creekside is not for me.

Not only did CREEKSIDE Animal Hospital not respond to the vendor, but also refused to respond to six (6) text messages and contact forms. Horrible customer, vendor, and most importantly of all, pet service. Ordered the treats on 8/16/24. CREEKSIDE Animal Hospital could not find the time to respond within eight (8) days. Messaged today: "Time is of the essence". No response whatsoever. CREEKSIDE Animal Hospital only has CRICKETS to offer.

We usually saw Amanda, who is now longer with them which I knew because I did receive an email. When I arrived, I was told by Cassidy that the appointment was now with her. I questioned this, but she seemed confused and insisted I had booked with her. I assumed I had made a mistake--but after checking my confirmation, I was right: I had booked with Jessica. The appointment was for our 10-pound Maltipoo, who needed a full shave-down after a week of camping. He was definitely a mess, but nothing out of the ordinary. What was unexpected was the way he behaved the next day--clearly uncomfortable and not himself. I called several times, but no one answered the phone. When I finally received a call back the next day, I was told nothing had happened and that they had no idea what was wrong. They scheduled a phone call with the owner, Christine, for Saturday. I made adjustments to my work schedule to be available. Saturday came and went--no call. I didn't hear from Christine until Wednesday, and by then I had already taken my dog to the vet twice, spending hundreds of dollars. The diagnosis: post-grooming furunculosis, most likely caused by clippers. (Per my vet) We played phone tag for a week, and when I finally connected with someone, it was an employee who apologized on behalf of the owner for the missed call. I never heard directly from Christine again--despite knowing a serious issue occurred under her business's care. The lack of accountability and professionalism was extremely disappointing. And you can save your generic copy and paste response to all the other yelp reviews that I'm currently now seeing it took me a while to write this because I was really upset and had I wrote this immediately my review would be much worse. To make matters worse, they also missed clipping his dew claws. We will absolutely not be returning. A sincere follow-up from the owner could have gone a long way--but unfortunately, that never happened. I am happy to report. I did find the location where Amanda is grooming and will make the trip out to Rochester just to see her knowing I never had a problem.

    Not sure what happened between owner and the talented groomers at this pet salon, but they are now…read moregone. I had booked with Melissa " The Doodle Whisperer" and was told it would be a 2 week wait for an appt with her as she was in high demand. I was willing to wait to insure a proper groom. When I arrived for the appt., I find that Melissa had left along with most of the other regular groomers weeks before I had made the appt. This is what is now coming out of the Salon under " Doodle Delux" grooming service. His skin has been sheared in several places and he is chewing, scratching and licking these burned areas continuously. In response to this shockingly unprofessional hatchet cut, the manager responded that my dog is a " squirmer" and a "shaker" and attempting to shift blame on him. Interesting since he always looked pristine before the old crew left. I fear for what the dogs experience here when the owners leave them. Lisa Bach

The staff was spectacular as always: made sure that Pipo got his pre-med injection to avoid an allergic reaction, monitor for some special tests they have done. One of the techs always comes out to greet them in the lobby, when they hear them "talking." We never have a long wait. We have used Macomb Vet for over 20 years. Before Dr. Dietlen, it was Dr. Harp - both are exceptional. They have always given our dogs exceptional and loving care. When our pets needed specialized care, they are always willing to give us a referral to a specialist.

    I definitely do not recommend this place…read more After a great deal of thought, my family made the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to our beloved 11-year-old dog, who was suffering from severe arthritis and a serious nasal infection. He could no longer enjoy his daily walks, and despite antibiotics and multiple doses of Benadryl each day, he found little relief. He struggled to breathe through his nose and was forced to breathe through his mouth, making it difficult for him to rest comfortably. We did not make this decision lightly. We felt that putting him through additional medications, bloodwork, and X-rays--both physically and financially--would only prolong his suffering and likely still lead us to the same painful outcome. Instead of compassion and understanding during one of the hardest moments our family has faced, the veterinarian made us feel judged and ashamed for our decision. We were handed our paperwork back and told they would do nothing further for our dog. We left completely devastated and then had to endure the added stress and heartbreak of finding another clinic willing to help us. Thankfully, we eventually found an amazing place that treated both our dog and our family with kindness, dignity, and compassion during his final moments. I would strongly encourage others to carefully consider where they take their pets for end-of-life care.
