The Olde Inne has been here "forever" and we're just discovering it now? My buddy and I started with the Irish Guinness. Flavorful and lighter than the typical drought. As appetizers we shared the Farmhouse (potato) Skins and the Fried Fish Bites. Yummy for both of these treats! As the main - he opted for the Corned Beef Reuben, I, the Fish and Chips. The Honey chose the Pan Seared Scallops while the Buddy's wife, the Baked Haddock. Everything was excellent. Well plated, well cooked and presented. An excellent experience and a great meal. It has a really fun and cozy atmosphere. I'm used to eating lighter food, so everything here felt pretty heavy. Not in a bad way, just very hearty and filling. The Shepherd's Pie was great and definitely filling. I'd say it's shareable because finishing the whole thing yourself can be a lot. The Pot Pie was also really good and seemed to be one of the more popular dishes. Both our host and server recommended it, and I can see why. The Fish & Chips were fine, but probably something I'd skip next time unless you're specifically craving them. Overall, a fun spot for hearty Irish comfort food, live music, and a true pub atmosphere! Pro tip: There's a huge parking lot in the back! The street out front can get pretty busy, so definitely head around back for parking.

EXTREMELY DISTURBING EXPERIENCE WITH THE WAITER!…read more This took place around 9:00 PM on Thursday, June 4. Our group consisted of three couples dining together. At the end of the meal, we asked if the bill could be split into thirds. Our waiter, Martin P., told us that he would not split the check and instead instructed us to write down exactly what each person ordered so that he could charge us separately. Although no other restaurant we visited in Provincetown required us to do this, we followed his instructions and listed our individual items. When Martin returned, he was visibly upset and stated that our payments were approximately $70 short. There was confusion because our group was trying to determine who had already paid, who had not, and whether something had been missed in the calculations. I even asked whether we were expected to calculate individual tax amounts ourselves, as no one knew what tax would be for each separate charge. Rather than calmly helping us resolve the discrepancy, Martin began yelling at our group. At one point he stated, "If I don't get $70, I am going to charge one of the credit cards that I have." This immediately concerned us. We were not refusing to pay. We were actively trying to understand where the discrepancy occurred and make sure the restaurant received the full amount owed. To resolve the issue, one of my friends and I went with Martin into a back room to review the charges. After reviewing everything, my friend agreed to pay the remaining balance immediately. The payment was processed and the bill was fully paid. At that point I was trying to calm the situation and bring it to a close. Instead, Martin became even more agitated and began yelling profanities at us. He shouted, "Get the f*** out of my restaurant! It's people like you why we don't split checks! You all need to get the f*** out now!" Other people started noticing this go down. We were stunned. The bill had been paid. Nobody was attempting to leave without paying. We were simply trying to resolve a billing issue after following the waiter's instructions. As we were leaving, my wife later told me that Martin placed his HAND ON HER BACK and guided her toward the exit. While it was not forceful, it felt unnecessary and added to an already hostile and intimidating experience. What happened next is why I ultimately decided to write this review. A few days later, while walking through Provincetown looking for a place to have lunch, our group passed The Mayflower Food & Drink and noticed Martin working there. When he saw us, he deliberately tapped on the glass to get our attention. After making eye contact, he made a hand gesture across his neck and pointed for us to leave and keep walking. The original incident had already ended. The bill had been paid. Yet days later he still felt the need to single out our group and signal that we were unwelcome. Had this simply been confusion over a split check, I would not be writing this review. Billing mistakes happen. What I cannot overlook is being threatened with unauthorized credit card charges, being screamed at with profanity while attempting to resolve the issue, being ordered out after the bill had been paid, Martin touching my wife, and then encountering the same employee days later making a gesture directed at our group from another restaurant. This experience was troubling enough that I believe others should be aware of it.

The portions here are huge. We tried a few different breakfast dishes, including the Irish breakfast and a potato cake Benedict. Everything was hearty, filling, and came out looking great. I especially liked the potato cakes. Crispy on the outside and a nice change from the usual English muffin you get with eggs Benedict. The Irish breakfast is definitely the move if you want to try a little bit of everything. You get eggs, multiple meats, toast, and plenty of food to keep you full for most of the day. Overall, great food, generous portions, and a fun atmosphere that feels different from your typical breakfast spot. Definitely worth checking out if you're on the Cape.

We ordered the French onion soup and the doggie dip sandwiches one with onion rings and the other with tater tots. The French onion soup arrived and it looked very good. Nicely melted cheese over flowing a little over the crock. The broth had a great deep beef flavor with plenty of seasoning. There were tons of nicely chopped onions and a couple of croutons as well. Probably lay the best I've had in a long time. The doggie dip sandwiches arrived a little time later. These sandwiches were made with thinly sliced roast beef between a grilled garlic roll. The sandwiches were thick and the garlic bread added a nice touch. A bowl of au jus was also included for dipping. The au jus was very salty so don't salt your sandwich as you won't need it. The tater tots and onion rings on both plates were piping hot right out of the fryer. Both were very crispy and very good. All in all one of the best visits to the restaurant and we will be going back. Seating is a combination of booths and table seating and our server was very helpful and attentive.

There was no one performing on stage, but the microphones were on, so my friend and I started singing Kelly Clarkson. Instead of simply asking us to stop or step away, the security guard, John, grabbed both of us by the arms and forcibly escorted us out while repeatedly telling us to leave. We immediately cooperated and even told him there was no reason to handle us that way. A simple "Please step down and leave" would have been enough. While escorting us out, he also kicked a drink toward my fiancé, told her he would "hit her like a man," and called me a "skank." Security has the right to enforce a venue's rules and remove guests, but that does not give someone the right to use unnecessary force or make threatening and degrading comments. We were willing to leave, we just expected to be treated with basic respect. Very disappointing experience. Don't come here if you want to have fun

Nantucket is full of restaurants that primarily target the influx of tourists in the summer. Of…read morethose, only a small percentage are year-rounders, serving year-round Nantucketers, who tend to be more down-to-earth and less inclined to pay $30 for a sushi roll than the average fair weather islander. Kitty Murtagh's is one for the year-rounders. Tucked away on a small side street behind the mid-island Stop and Shop, this reliable old Irish pub is low key and pretense free, with a lovely patio for al fresco dining in fine weather. Indoors, there are pool tables and occasionally live music. The food is nothing earth shattering, but it's fairly priced and fairly good -- and the Irish menu items are fairly authentic. No surprise since co-owner John Keane is an Irish transplant who came to Nantucket in the late 1980s to work as a bartender at the Chicken Box, a semi-legendary live music venue a few doors down (where my BIL used to play with his band, incidentally). Keane and his partner, Caroline Montgomery, own not only Kitty Murtagh's, but also Queequeg's, Tree Bar, and Town, downtown mainstays. At a recent dinner, IRISH NACHOS ($15; Melted Cheddar, Bacon, Tomatoes, Scallion, Potato Skins) were well made, with a good balance of crisp potato skin, cheese and other toppings. You won't find Irish nachos on menus in Ireland, unless it's at an American pub. Like green beer and big parades on St. Patrick's Day, they're an American invention -- quite a tasty one, though, unlike most green beers I've had. More authentically Irish GUINNESS BEEF STEW ($20; Gravy, Root Vegetables, Mashed Potato, Dinner Rolls) was made with tender beef and carrots in plenty of gravy. It was particularly lovely to discover that the mashed potatoes that came with the dish were scratch made and quite delicious. It's hard for me to resist an IRISH FRY UP ($20; Eggs, Bangers, Rashers, Black & White Pudding, Charred Tomato, Irish Beans, Mushrooms, Fries), otherwise known as a full Irish breakfast, whenever I see it on the menu, even when it's dinnertime. Kitty Murtagh's version was fairly good. I loved the nicely pan-fried little disks black and white pudding, charred tomato, mushrooms, and eggs, which I requested over easy. Bangers had been a bit over boiled and the "Irish beans" were probably canned (tinned) Heinz baked beans, however. I have a number of Irish friends who enjoy the nostalgia of tinned baked beans, especially on buttered toast, but they're not my personal favorite. Fries were a stand-in for more traditional pan-fried potatoes. We were not overly fond of the IRISH CHICKEN CURRY ($32; Indian Madras Curry, Jasmine Rice, Mango Chutney), which was made with several times more untempered "curry powder" (aka garam masala) than there probably should have been. It was also weirdly and horribly sweet. We do sometimes enjoy the genre we think of as British-Indian food, e.g. the chicken curries you can find at just about any pub in London. I can only guess that the chef mis-measured the amounts of curry powder and sugar while making this batch. Our ten-year old insisted on ordering the GRILLED CHEESE & FRIES ($12) from the children's menu, which she found very much to her taste. I didn't try it, but it was made with amply buttered white bread and American cheese. She said it was good as Panera's, her paragon of grilled cheese. ;) Overall, it was quite a pleasant meal. We'll surely be back with the pup to sit on that pretty patio and try the shepherd's pie.
