This place is truly rock and roll, man. It seems every time I poke my head in here, there's so much more to look at. Groovy colored t shirts hanging from the ceilings, hand-made jewelry, pendulums, band patches & stickers, glass products, beanies, music merch, incense, candles and so much more available to sort through. The staff is always friendly, and the vibe always super chill. Check it out if you like unique gifts! The only downside is parking is limited on the side of the building but if you go during the week, usually you're in the clear to have a spot. "Some rise, some fall, some climb to get to terrapin"..... This place has been a go spot for all of our Dead Head needs since high school (15+ years ago, eeekkk!! I can't believe I admitted that!!). Anyways, the selection of stickers, patches, Dead Head knick knacks are fantastic. I scored a new Grateful Dead sticker while I was there for the car, LOVE it. But I must say, the store has stayed pretty much the same in the 15 years I have been going. Not a bad thing. It's somewhat comforting. Like the Cheers of Head Shops. I do end up picking out a shirt here and there when I see something I fancy. Honestly, sometimes the quality holds up,and sometimes, I'm sad to say, it doesnt. I was disappointed in the tapestry selection, I was hoping for more to choose from, but it was slim pickings. I half thought this might be due to the fact that festival time is approaching us so everyone might have scooped up the good ones. Who knows. I don't buy glass from here. I do look, the pieces are pretty, and come with a hefty price tag. I stick to Glass Roots in Batavia where they custom make and do all of the glass work right there on site which is cool to see. They sell lots of pipes and things...gramma bought one, but I think she's using it as a papperweight. The workers there are very mellow there because they play nice music and have all that incense. I heart Terrapin (and not just the amazing song). This store has it all - nice glass at a variety of prices, tie dyes for the lot, tapestries, incense, all the stuff the University of Buffalo hippie needs :) They used to have a great tape trading thing going on but that's probably gone by the wayside these days... They also sell tickets to shows at the Town Ballroom and other local values without charging additional fees so I definitely recommend it for your live music ticket needs. They will bargain a bit on glass but not as much as some other smaller head shops in town. read more

I don't smoke or "smoke" and don't care for much Dead music, but I still enjoy stopping by this place. Big selection of fun stuff - fair trade clothes and bags, tapestries, big selection of quality and low-cost jewelry, decent selection of incense, some Wiccan and other alternative religious supplies (gems, medallions, oils, etc), windchimes and specialty candles. They also have a nice, reasonably priced selection of zippos that they will fill (and often refill) for free. Their prices overall are pretty decent with very limited mark up over what's online (I got a solid brass Hindu goddess statue holding a bowl for incense cones for $14 on my last trip). Good customer service. Always clean and kept up. Plus this place was on Hertel long before it was considered a desirable commercial strip. read more

It's more than just a tobacco shop, but that's what the specialize in. They also have clothes, stickers, and plenty of Grateful Dead trinkets. The staff is always friendly- very friendly- and they do have a really good selection of tobacco supplies. It's also a friendly place with a cool, sort of hippyish vibe. It seems like everyone is welcome in here. I think I've walked in here a ton of times, and never bought anything, but always got a smiling hello and goodbye. You don't have to be a hippie to love Terrapin. It's a great place. Awesome atmosphere, selection, and customer service -- always so friendly and helpful. Plus they sell Town Ballroom tickets without a surcharge or any additional fees, which just adds to the awesome factor. I went there to buy tickets a few months ago and had the best conversation with the guy behind the counter, even though he'd never heard Borgore before. I'll never be a Dead fan but I'll never not be a Terrapin fan. read more

As good as it gets. It brings back the 70s for me each time I visit. I used the Gerry stickers to dress my moped years ago, now I use them on an e-scooter. I think Gerry would approve. It you don't think you are capable of having a nice day, spend a half hour and a few dollars at Terrapin on just about any product at all. It will put a smile on your face. Not one bummer in the shop. When you feel the weight of the world on your shoulders, stop in and say "hi". No matter how you spell it, you will get a nice attitude adjustment just by enjoying the environment at Terrapin Station. I have been coming here for literally 15 years for all of my smoking accessories. Obviously you can order anything online nowadays but there's something about the personal touch and input everyone there has. It's a very peaceful environment and the employees are probably the nicest people I've ever met. What a gem in the city. It's been around for many years and I hope it has many more. read more
