It arrived on time, was made of quality materials and fit well after just a bit of trimming at neck interface. Current one has shipped very quickly. i have an order in - wanted to make a small change. The order isn't due yet - but I have called 4 times, sent 4-5 emails, to make a small change. Nice website - no one home. Update. It's been three weeks. I couldn't get these guys to pick up the phone, or return any emails and went through PayPal for a refund. A week later I got a notice that the order had shipped-and finally got an email back from Mary-the owner of the company-it was very apologetic. Now I feel terrible-having received a refund... But this is an expensive custom product and basic stuff like answering your emails are returning phone calls month-to-month is important. read more

Not sure what is going on at Terrapin. Seems like the order was filled in a reasonable amount of time but... the pickup holes were miss-cut and they admitted their error. I returned it to have them opened up and it took longer to get it back than the original order. they are really bad about answering the phone and emails. They also offered to reimburse my shipping, the reworked guard came back with zero correspondence or a few bucks to cover my shipping. My main complaint; the reworked pickup openings are a mess, poor workmanship. I could have done better with a hand file and would have had the guitar back together by now. Look elsewhere before using them, too bad! Should have 1 start but i love Eugene, OR. What? read more

Sent 2 e-mails and left a message about my recent order. No response, nothing, nada in nearly 3 WEEKS! Opened a case with Paypal and only then did I received a response that they are behind on their e-mails and phone messages...I know this is a small business, but clearly serving their customers is not a priority. Elevated my Paypal case to a real claim and all of a sudden my pickguard is done and shipping to me... There are many other custom pickguard makers out there with the same or better quality and options. I ordered one from another custom shop on a Friday and had it on my doorstep 1,000 miles away on Monday! Do yourself a favor and take your business where your order will be appreciated and you won't have to resort to threatening to pull your payment to get your product. I work hard for my money and I expect a lot more when I plunk down $60 for a piece of plastic. read more

Customer service and communication are about the worst in the business. Pickguard quality is standard when you get them cut correctly, and forget about any kind of timeframe. With so many other pickguard makers out there with good communication and customer service, don't waste your time and money. read more

Take Warning... Paid for standard tele thinline tortoise pickguard. 6 weeks later received one with humbucker. Sent email, no reply. Called & sent it back on my bill. Received revision 4 weeks later. missing pickup mounting holes. Also, holes for pickup selector were off center, no way to tighten screws & have it work properly. Never again. read more

I ordered a custom pickguard from them using a template that they had online. After months I finally received the wrong pickguard. When I confronted them about it, they told me that the bass guitar that I ordered the pickguard was not what I had. I told them that I knew for a fact exactly what bass I had with invoices and serial numbers. Rather than admit their error they told me that I not only was wrong, but I would have to pay for a completely new pickguard in addition to paying for the one I returned to them! read more

Literally just received a response back to a custom quote response from February. That was more than four months ago. The explanation given by Terrapin was blamed on emails and phone calls. Unreal, you can't make up these stories anymore. Needless to say, within those four months I found a quality Luthier to build me a custom pickguard. read more

I ordered a custom truss rod cover on the 05.09.2015, being in Australia I new it would take some time. I got a email letting me know it was shipped on the 23.09.2015,it is now 29.10.2015 and no truss rod cover has arrived. I have sent them emails but no answer. Looks like I have done my dollars. Ordered a bass pickguard for a Fender Deluxe Bass on 1/29 and received exactly what I ordered today on 2/12. Installed the pickguard which required just a hair of shaving where the guard met the neck. Screw holes all dead on. New pick guard is beautiful and makes my bass look distinctly mine. So Ordered two Humbucker Pickup Adapters on the 28th of April. I am still waiting on my order. They don't respond to emails at all. I am not even sure if my order has been sent. After about 2 dozen e-mails I got a reply that just said it has been sent. Gee thanks. Wont recommend them at all. I've just received a custom pick guard from Terrapin Guitars and wanted to share my experience. Firstly, it took a long time to arrive. Five weeks, when I believe the norm is about three. Granted, shops can get busy, but in this case the product was not worth the wait. Secondly, communication was next to zero. There was no confirmation that my order was received, except that my money was taken. My first email after two weeks did not get a response. My second email after four weeks was replied to after two days, telling me the shop was running behind but they were working on it. I was glad to know that I hadn't been forgotten. Finally, after receiving the pick guard, I was disappointed once again. The one pickup hole was too small, the other was not placed in the standard position and was also slightly crooked. The bevelled edges were wavy (crooked) and not sanded properly. The quality of the white pearl material wasn't very good. The pattern was blotchy and the material quite thin. One or two of these issues I could possibly overlook but on top of the fact that the overall fit to my existing holes wasn't very good, this pick guard is a write-off for me. Lesson learned. I am going to try Pickguardian, since their reviews and presentation is much better. I don't like to write negative reviews, but if it will save someone some time, money and grief, then I think it is necessary. read more
