La Creme Monterey

La Creme Monterey

La Creme truly knows how to take care of people and how to make dreams come true. Regardless of…read morewhat type of food you and your guest are interested, whatever style, they will make sure to get it done. The presentation and layout is the talk of the town and we overheard our guests saying that this is the best food that they've ever had at a wedding. Tamie, Michelle and their team is also incredibly helpful in giving you tips and suggestion on how to get the most out of your budget. They assist you with each little step and are excellent with the tiny details in order to make your event truly stand out. We highly highly recommend them and they're a fantastic group to work with.

If you have the privilege of getting married at The Holly Farm you will have the incredible…read moreopportunity to have La Crème be your caterer/bartenders/decorators/rental coordinator/etc all weekend long! I will start by prefacing that La Crème + Holly Farm give their 1000% to every wedding that happens at their venue, which means you won't really begin working with La Crème until about 2-3 months prior to your wedding date. The first month or so will be spent talking through ideas and inspiration, likely doing your tasting (which is a literal 5 star experience) and the last two months is where you will really get a final breakdown of cost and timeline. If you are a slightly anxious/overly organized bride like me, I know this can seem stressful. I suggest you ask them early on for a realistic estimate based on the number of guests and events you will be having. And then..add an extra 15% on top of that, and set that money aside as you are going through your planning process, because trust me, you won't want to skimp on what La Crème has to offer. Now that the money talk is out of the way.. the service and food that La Crème provides is out of this world. We had an Indian/Mexican fusion wedding and had all our food and alcohol handled by La Crème for the entire weekend. It's not a typical process where you pick from a list of options based on a fixed menu with prices. La Crème creates every menu from scratch based on the couple and their preferences, and then they adjust based on your budget. Chef Joe and Tamie's team had just a few conversations with us about our cultures, favorite foods, family preferences and then they created an entire world personalized to who we are as people. Perfectly marrying the cultural cuisines in a fun yet respectful way, taking our request to dedicate a bar to our dads and creating the *cutest* Dad Cave with all their favorite brands of Scotch & Mezcal, and seamlessly making everything appear and disappear like magic. Aside from the food being incredible, our guests felt taken care of at every moment. They are not just caterers, they are the people who make sure you aren't getting too chilly in the evenings, they are the energy keeping the drinks flowing at the bar as friends order round after round (after round), they are your partners when families decide the day of the wedding they are coming and you need to change the seating arrangement, they are a familiar face that comes up to you at the reception and tells you how happy they are for you. They are everything you could want, you just need to have faith that they will step in when it's your turn and they will blow you away at your wedding. A special shout out to Tamie, Chef Joe, and the sweetest Soquel for making us feel so special all weekend long and treating our family like your own. We are so lucky to have worked with you :)

Highly recommend if you're looking for a caterer that's passionate about food and service. Chef Bruce Finch knows how to make delicious food especially using different levels of flavors layering in herbs, spices etc. that he makes from scratch! His brownies are to die for! Really!! Oh and his rum soaked pineapples plated with delicious ice cream topped with toasted coconut! I know! Mouth is watering, right?

The food was so good and our guests raved about it even after the event. We opted for a multi course plated service and everything was delicious, presented so beautifully and made fresh local ingredients that truly wowed us all. I highly recommend their short ribs, baked havarti oysters, and do not pass on Bruces famous brownies! We absolutely loved how great the team was to work with as well. From the very beginning Bruce listened to the tastes/foods that were important to us and delivered on our special day. Jordan was a true hero handling our event rentals and making sure we had everything we needed for our bar service. Both were very responsive the entire time, and even hosted us for a tasting a few months prior to the event allowing us to sample what we were getting ourselves in to. I'd like to add that we also played a round of golf with them- these guys really love what they do and the people that they get to work with and it was really special for us to gain friends along the way. Thank you guys again for such a wonderful experience and we can't wait to work with you again soon!

Aquino's Birrieria & Brunch - Al Pastor Street Tacos

Aquino's Birrieria & Brunch: Highly recommended by a life-long local, I arrived and placed a…read moretakeout order for a Quesabirria Taco & a Birria Super Burrito. It was 4pm on a TUE & I was the sole customer. During my short wait, I was amused by the old Chinese decor. Back at my hotel I opened the neatly packed heavy duty containers (see pic). Wow! The food was as delicious as it looked. Every ingredient was tastable! I had to slow down to make my enjoyment last. Aquino's is no average Mexican restaurant. It's now in my top 5 - and I'm from Los Angeles! Can't wait to go back.

We stumbled upon this place to dine-in because a restaurant in the same plaza was closed. We didn't…read morerealize this place was closing in 20 mins, but they were happy to let us order to go. The food was okay. We were going more for some casual quick eats, so I ordered an al pastor taco and guacamole and chips. Al pastor is my preferred choice of meat so when the staff member also recommended the al pastor, I was totally looking forward to it. However it was a good 3.5 in flavor, contains pineapple, but they were definitely marinated with canned pineapple pieces. The cook and char on the pork was okay, it was tasty, but I've definitely had my share of fantastic tacos having lived in San Diego and Los Angeles. I really expected more from the guacamole because typically it's not that hard to mess up. Unfortunately it was bland, straight avocado with no sign of any spices, chile, onion, etc. and portion size was smaller in comparison with the amount of chips given. I even tried to add their spicy green salsa and lime wedge from my taco to it and those items couldn't even help the flavor profile. Chips were warm, but also lacked flavor, like salt as well. Decor was interesting and eclectic because it seemed they took over a previous asian restaurant and have not quite finished renovating or they are just choosing to keep that decor up. Service was good since we ordered to go. If I'm ever in the area again, willing to try other items and give this place another shot like the birria or something.
