Her office is located on the top floor of a building in Rogers Park with free street parking right in front. She asked me questions before the session began, provided me with water, and even had me choose the lotion or oil scent of my preference. She told me that I will be spending most of the time lying on my sides (because of my belly) and that she uses hot stones during the massages. I never experienced them before but it sounded good to me! Overall the massage was great & I left feeling relaxed. So relaxed I came back another 2 times during weeks 34 and 36! I'm looking forward to coming back to Karen post-pregnancy for a regular massage.

The massage room was extremely clean and smelled like lavender and eucalyptus essential oils, which are my favorites! When she got started she asked me about the position of the head cradle, which I thought was fine at first. As she started on my back she adjusted the head cradle, which made it feel much more comfortable! I've been to many expensive spas and I have never felt more comfortable with my face planed in the face cradle than I did here. Joanna also added lavender and eucalyptus near my nose on the face cradle, which was such a nice touch! The massage was amazing! I walked out with no shoulder pain, which has been nagging me for months! Joanna payed really good attention to the areas we discussed and eased tension everywhere else! This didn't bother me as zoning out is one of my specialities, however if you think this would be distracting to you make sure to book your appointment when class isn't going on. I started seeing her due to a torn labrum in my back from years ago, she comes to my home every Sunday and breaks the reoccurring tension barriers in my upper back from this injury and also helps with me new injuries and makes me feel a whole heck of a lot better.... There is a ton of scar tissue from the injury and without treatment my back swells up from wear and tear (exercising, which is a need for me). I have gotten to know her and her business partner/husband as people a little bit and they are truly good people and care about their clients.
