After having experienced two grandparents in the general retirement area, and one of those grandparents later in memory care, I can say with confidence that the family chose well with Morning Star. Yes. There are always difficulties in communication, insurance, billing, and everything else that you might expect from dealing with any sort of business entity at all. This simply comes with the territory. But what makes me happy with how my grandparents lived out their time at Morning Star is the respect, dignity, and help that they got from a great staff. If my grandfather was feeling ill, the staff would bring soup to his room. If he needed help with medicine, there were services to assist in managing his pills. Finally when he died, the staff was helpful to the family in planning for my grandmother. In memory care, my grandmother was taken to every meal, she was brought to the daily activity session, and was never just left in her room to fade away. Her defiance was met with patience, and the staff always let us know about anything she might need (socks, pants, etc.) The last few years of someone's life is an uncomfortable topic. Death is an uncomfortable topic. But I'm so happy that Morning Star made my grandparents last days more bearable. The home care service I was using at the time referred me to Phil Hotaling and what a blessing that was! Phil helped me understand so many issues when it came to being in assisted living and what was and what was not provided. He arranged visits with different homes and together we toured each one. He guided me through the questions and issues pertinent to each home. I selected a wonderful place for Mom! The assisted living home has room for 8 residents and is run by a fantastic couple who live there with their two children. Mom is happy there and I'm happy she is well taken care of by loving caring people. I would never have found this place on my own without Phil's help. Thank you Phil for your help, your guidance and just your wonderful heart and caring about your clients and their family. I would never have made it through this last year with Mom and then Dad needing care all on top of two knee replacement surgeries! We used to travel a lot and sometimes the packages stayed there for long and we never had to worry about it Maintenance was always done on time, it can be done online and they will show up depending on the priority you have... I had water leak in the freeze and it was addressed within 10 mins. Everyone is super Friendly in the office. Nancy, Roshida, sherry and Kaitlyn were always there when needed. The ladies at the front desk are quite friendly. I often joke with them. All of the PTs are skillful and attentive. But their bedside manner is not equal. I prefer female doctors and PTs simply because they come off as more caring and less ego-driven. The PT doctor, Lauren Hofman, who does evaluations is wonderful, joyful, and patient. In my opinion, PT Magerette is the absolute best! She make PT fun. She constantly educates and encourages her patients. I really appreciate Margaret and prefer to work with her exclusively. Margaret knows the human body well. Recently I went in a day after walking 10 miles. My hip bone and muscles were sore and tense. I thought that it was serious. Margaret was not worried and explained that it was soreness from muscles rarely exerted in that manner. She focused on those muscles in our last session. I left Margaret's session feeling better than when I arrived. One day later, I am back to normal. I highly recommend the Mountain View Pain Center and highly recommend asking to work with Margaret. I liken her style to that of a teacher getting her students excited about a new lesson or exercise. Often she does the PT routines with me. Margaret is a winner!

We lived here for over three years, and moved out about a year ago after buying a house. We always…read morehad great interactions with office staff, as well as with any maintenance staff. Rent was comparable, and any needs that we had to fix things were responded to quickly and efficiently. Amenities were very nice, the pool area was usually pretty clean, which was impressive for the amount of use it received. The grill's always worked, the fireplace was often working. the gym was regularly cleaned, and only was dirty due to salt issues in the winter. The dog park was sometimes left with turds that they would seasonally address. Some of the dogs in the neighborhood were not very friendly so I always kept my dog close by when going to the dog park. Our neighbors were always pleasant, and I felt safe walking around it all times of day/night. That being said we were on the top floor and so we didn't have any issues with neighbors on top of us. My top complaint with this place was the parking. The company hired to monitor/tow the parking lot were predatory, sneaky and aggressive. We had a car towed because the tabs stickers hadn't arrived in the mail yet. They towed it less than an hour after expiration. When we talk to the office about this, they said it was our fault for not informing them before hand so we were stuck with $1000 bill to get our car back even though we were legally parked with a legal car to drive. We eventually got a garage, and (my fault) it got broken into and all our camping stuff/power tools were stolen due to me forget to lock the garage. My car in the garage also ended up with mice in it. I would find mice turds all over my seats and car seats. My husbands car parked outside and did not have that problem. Thankfully since moving away we have not had a mouse problem. No mouse issues in our unit either, just the garage. Overall, it was a good place to live, on the top floor as long as you're ok with a lot of stairs. the staff were the highlight of the living experience. The exception to this being a 5star was our car/parking situation.

Apparently some residents have been abusing their parking privilege by having more than their own vehicles taking up valuable parking spaces that Reserve residents should have access to. No resident should take up additional parking spaces for days at a time. No problem. Makes sense. Restrict and fine those residents that abuse their parking privileges. Make residents register their vehicles so that parking policy can be monitored and enforced But that's not what Residence did. Instead, everyone, even occasional overnight guests must obtain a parking pass and pay $3/night for every time they want to visit and stay overnight. You can't make a one time payment for future visits. No. You must go to the website and get a parking permit every time you visit. Silliness. The parking app doesn't exist on the iPhone App Store, and there is a cumbersome and frankly, probably an illegal requirement for personal information on the parking website. They require you to provide all of your vehicle information plus who it is you are visiting. It is none of the Reserve's damned business who I am visiting. There are no warnings for first time offenders. I just paid $348 to recover my car after it was towed last night (3/21/2024). Granted, I should have supplied all of my personal information and obtained a $3 pass, but no warning? Come on. Anyone looking to live here should think hard about company overreach, and somebody should sue them for violating privacy laws.

Although they let us know in early November that they'd finish renovating the gym by the end of December, they finished in February. It is now March, and the bathrooms they deconstructed are still untouched. A crack in the pool took weeks to repair during summer months. Closures like these will occur with unreasonable and unreliable timeframes, and no compensation to offset it. Dove Valley's internet provider, Xfinity, works with some devices but not others. My 2020 SE iphone does not connect despite lots of troubleshooting. Also know that they do not have cameras if any crime occurs. My catalytic converter was stolen from my car and there was no recorded evidence.
