Eugene Hotel Retirement Community

If you're over 55 and tired of maintaining your house, shopping, cooking, cleaning and arranging…read moreyour own entertainment, the good news for you is the Eugene Hotel has everything you need. Basically apartment living with some support like two meals a day, transportation for a ride to different things as well as organized activities. I think this is the best retirement community in a town full of them. There are other community amenities like a pool room, laundry, Library craft room, etc. most residents are fairly senior and many do have support staff that assist them with a variety of things in their units, but it has none of the assisted-living vibe. Judi, the general manager, maintains an impeccable standard with excellent service, that allows this unique landmark to shine in a new incarnation. From the front desk, staff to transportation and dining staff, this place is staffed by individuals who are also members of this vibrant community. This lacks any of the impersonal corporate vibe that exists in most other of this type of institutions. I hope that sharing the good news about this place doesn't make it so popular there's not room for me to move in in a few years.

Well, as a former employee myself, I never expected to become a patient, especially not an ICU Heart patient. It has been so long since I retired that nobody there knew me except for one nurse. I was very grateful for the level of professionalism I was accorded and the timeliness of everyone involved. Having a Triple Bypass is no picnic. However, the staff continued to assure me all along the way. All accommodations were made for my needs and that of the Mrs. Staff were exceedingly polite and very patient with us as we navigated this 'other side of the coin'. Everyone from Registration all the way to the CNA that wheelchaired me to the exit door were very nice. It is amazing how differently people come across when your life is in their hands. I am exceedingly grateful and appreciative of all the staff and care I received while I was there. Now I am home and completing recovery from my successful surgery. I feel great and look forward gratefully to the next few decades this surgery has provided me.

I had been experiencing increased stress due to upcoming lay-off, as well as two weeks of increased abdominal pain and cramping down my right calf. As forthcoming as I was, Jeffery Salerno and Rachel Straub decided to place me on involuntary hold. The criteria for an NMI is: severe mental illness and immediate danger to self and others or unable to provide for basic needs. This criteria never applied to my circumstances and led to an emotionally damaging experience at the BHU. Further, Providers listed refused medical intervention, which would have been an abdominal CT scan, requested by myself, the patient.
