I think this is the best retirement community in a town full of them. There are other community amenities like a pool room, laundry, Library craft room, etc. most residents are fairly senior and many do have support staff that assist them with a variety of things in their units, but it has none of the assisted-living vibe. Judi, the general manager, maintains an impeccable standard with excellent service, that allows this unique landmark to shine in a new incarnation. From the front desk, staff to transportation and dining staff, this place is staffed by individuals who are also members of this vibrant community. This lacks any of the impersonal corporate vibe that exists in most other of this type of institutions. I hope that sharing the good news about this place doesn't make it so popular there's not room for me to move in in a few years.

In Oregon you have to wait 30 days before you can submit probate paperwork. We did that but Falconwood still refused to work with us. They ended up claiming the house was abandoned and listed it for auction. This was theft of my wife's inheritance.

The hospital is in a nice location and we appreciated having sunlight and views. But the hospital is bad with communicating with each other and with us family members, bad with paperwork and legal bureaucracy, bad with computers. I watched my brother writhing in pain for 45 minutes while a nurse couldn't get the computer to allow the next dose of pain meds to come through. Eventually a pharmacy worker came up and they stood around the computer going, "Huh! That's interesting. Never seen that before." I had to file my power of attorney documents multiple times. "Maybe you should file it again with us in person," one guy said. I had already filed it, in person, at their front desk, and even had the receipt for it. The real hands-on medical staff was focused on my brother's basic health needs to some degree, and I am thankful for the medical professionals who saved his life. The hospital SYSTEM only cared about getting my brother out of his hospital bed as soon as possible, into some other kind of care facility, even though he'd caught a new bacterial infection while in their hospital.
