Luckily a neighbor of ours recommended Lee Trusler at Wildlife Removal Company. I called Lee on Monday morning and told him we had a woodchuck (aka groundhog) in our yard. He fit us into his schedule and set up a trap around 5pm. He told me woodchucks are active at twilight. Sure enough, by 8pm the varmint was in the live trap. I called Lee and he came to pick the trap up the following morning. Lee does not destroy the wild animals he traps. He releases them onto rural property with the property owner's approval. (He had three young skunks in his truck when he came to pick up the woodchuck) Not only does Wildlife Removal trap animals, but they will also do the clean up if you end up with a bat or flying squirrel or other creature in your house. Current charge is $150 for the first animal and $100 for subsequent animals. Fortunately for us, as Lee explained, woodchucks are solitary animals. A lot of people think that Monroe County will trap wildlife for free, but they do not. You are better off hiring a licensed and insured company to do it for you.
