However, that can probably be specified beforehand and its not enough to knock of a star. Regardless of this, I loved it. The bacon and burger were full of flavor and the grilled jalapenos had just the right amount of spice. The grilled onions on top were a great touch. When you're done with your omelette and there's leftover toppings on the plate, you can use fries to sort of scoop them up (awesome). The service was also great. The waitress was talking to regulars, and even asked us what we were up to today. Food came out pretty quick and she asked us if we wanted refills the moment our cups were low. Overall, nice little place. Forgot to get a picture of the food because I was so focused on eating. If I ever come back through the area between the operating hours of 8 and 2 I will certainly be going here. If I happened to pass through after they closed I would probably break in for the pie. It is very small, with about fifteen stools wrapping around a classic service counter. According to the menu, the diner is a "One-Master Model 15-Stool Valentine steel building," made by Valentine Manufacturing Company of Wichita, Kansas, in 1955. They have a small parking lot in back of the diner. I parked there and then saw a bathroom entrance sign -- after a 2 1/2-hour trip, nature was calling. It is a very clean bathroom located at the rear of the building, with a separate entrance from the parking lot. There is no access to the restroom from inside the diner -- a unique and nostalgic feature you don't see much anymore. I walked around to the front of the building, entered, sat down on a stool, and was greeted with, "Y'all having a good day so far?" I had a half sweet/half unsweet tea and the Cheeseburger Deluxe with no mayonnaise. It came with lettuce, tomato, pickle chips, onions, French fries, and cole slaw. I put ketchup on the fries, but the fresh tomato alone provided plenty of flavor for the juicy, delicious burger. The French fries were crispy and delicious -- exactly what you hope for at a classic diner. The cole slaw was outstanding and clearly tasted homemade. The pies looked incredible, and because the cheeseburger platter was so good, I had a piece of blueberry buttermilk cake topped with whipped cream -- wow! There is also a clearly posted 3% surcharge if paying with a credit card. Prices are reasonable, so it didn't feel like an issue. This was a great overall experience, and I would recommend this classic, nostalgic mid-20th-century diner to anyone traveling through Farmville. It closes at 2 pm, so plan accordingly!

We tried the bourbon chicken bites and they were great. They were lightly fried with a delicious bourbon sweet sauce. We tried the steamers since they were specials there and I've never tried them. The FarmVille Steamer was a bit off - the turkey is sliced thicker and the veggies were cooked. The Roast Beef Steamer was great- the roast beef was cooked to perfection and the pretzel bun was great. The best part was the horseradish sauce - creamy and complimented the sandwich perfectly. I got the mashed potatoes on the side and they were just like I them - a bit chunky with the skins. Service (5/5): Service was great. There was no listing on the menu for sides that was offered. Since some entrees listed had roasted vegetables I asked if the chef could prepare a variety of the roasted vegetables with polenta, Quiona or risotto due to my medical condition which resulted in my dietary restrictions. The server returned with an apology and said I could only have asparagus and Brussel sprouts. We ordered what I hoped would be the least harmful to me. We ordered the fried calamari and had removed the batter and the calamari was very tasty and tender served with sliced scallions and capers. When our server came to remove that dish we had our server take the baked bread since our loaf was not fully cooked as the dough was still raw in the middle. We could see that other tables breads looked more brown and toasted. As a fine dining restaurant owner and a manager of numerous resort restaurants if a customer informed my server that they had dietary restrictions and it was sometimes difficult to find menu options that was appropriate our chef or myself would have addressed the table to see how we could help to accommodate their specific dietary food requirements not sending the server back with a negative response to a customer's request. Our server asked if there was anything else we wanted ( the server neglected to ask if we could be enticed to try one of their wonderful desserts and a after dinner beverage) we were very disappointed and just asked to please bring a box and our bill. The owner/manager was out on the floor the entire time we were there and addressing other customer's tables. Towards the end of our meal the chef/owner and the manager/owner were both at the table next to us talking for approximately 20 minutes. As we were getting up from our table the manager turned and asked if everything was ok, at this point I felt it was not truly a sincere question and said "it was fine" and continued to the exit. Now to explain yes it was a Saturday evening however for an occupancy of approximately 70 people with only a quarter of the restaurant being occupied, I sincerely feel that a simple request could have been granted since the restaurant is new and accommodating the client, I would think, would be a doable. The only tables of 2/4/6 top tables having been served and 3 tables to include us arriving between 7:30 & 9pm and not one customer at the bar, or at the 4 counter height window tables and half the restaurant tables being empty there should have been no reason that one of the owners could not have come over to ask how they could help with accommodate my dietary restrictions. Will we return? That's questionable since there are very few items on their menu that I can consume without having the dish being tweaked a bit. Ps. Suggestions 1) When making a mule with mint the bartender needs to muddle the mint not just place 1 leaf of mint in the glass. 2) Have your runner in the same black long sleeve dress shirt as food servers or a black collared polo shirt with a black apron to distinguish the runner from the food servers. The black tee shirt looks tacky.

She asked for olive oil and vinegar and waitress said the only dressing choice besides balsamic was ranch. I got the wedge salad with... guess what.... blue cheese dressing which actually came on it so they do in fact, have blue cheese dressing So then one of the other waitresses from the behind the bar came over to check on us and I said we ordered the wings with blue cheese and ranch, but we only got ranch. And she said OK I'll get you some blue cheese. And I said also do you have olive oil and vinegar. She said yes I'll get you some olive oil and vinegar. Both things that we had asked our original waitress, who continues to be visiting with her friend and taking selfies with her friend and had said these items were unavailable available. So the attentive waitress comes back, not with oil and vinegar, but with a dressing container, full of just olive oil ‍, and not a dressing container with blue cheese dressing, but a dressing container full of just blue cheese crumbles‍. OK, we are going to deal with that. I mean, blue cheese crumbles are great, but they were a little hard to dip your wings into!!. So we asked that waitress for an extra ranch which she immediately brings and we put the blue cheese crumbles into one of the ranches and basically make our own blue cheese dressing. Problem solved. (except for the olive oil and vinegar situation which we just dropped at this point.) Our original waitress never bussed our table for over an hour. We had long finished our cocktails, and they were obviously watered down and done, and we had moved onto a bottle of wine. (I had to go up to the bar and order a bottle of wine myself because again she was clearly at work for other reasons besides actually doing work). Long after we were halfway through the bottle of wine she swaggered over and asked if we needed anything which at that point the only thing we needed was a clean table, but we chose not to ask her for it at that time. So this is the Farmville plague. We have places that have potentially good food, have a nice venue, in this case, a fantastic view, but management continues to hire Longwood students who have no experience in the food, industry, or even any personal experience of nicer dining themselves. And there's no manager watching what these kids are doing and guiding them. We see this over and over again in Farmville where the restaurant has potential, but they just won't train their waitresses. Un-bussed table for the duration of our stay. Incorrect information about what dressings they do and don't have. Lackadaisical attitude about getting us anything outside of what she could punch into the computer straight off the menu. And as seen in the pictures, getting paid by the hour to socialize with her buddy. A real shame for such a beautiful rooftop bar that actually has good food
