As a child, I was literally raised in a dental office as my stepmother was a D.D.S. and an award winning one one at that. I've only ever known exceptional dentistry, and Teresa is at that same level. I went in today to have a severe cavity filled and almost lost the tooth due to negligence on my part. Teresa was able to get to the nerve without damaging it and saved an important molar. Plus, her numbing injections were practically painless! (And oh so necessary...) The office staff was friendly and there were no surprise charges. Going to the dentist for me is about as bad as it gets, dating back to a young child. Now as a middle aged adult I have sought out a holistic treatment given all of the past work/traumas and I have been very impressed so far. Dr Isbell and her team have been generous with their time and willingness to go the extra mile to explain the detail of what work is being done and why. The level of unique insight she and her team offers is the best I have ever experienced. I have tight jaw trouble which puts extra pressure on the dental team. Initially I had good experiences at Dr Isbells office. I drove 30 minutes to go there because I wanted a holistic approach. Her staff was kind. The first visit I had with Dr Isbell she spent time with me and made me feel good about my choice to not get a root canal as another dentist was recommending. Once I was an established patient and started having some tooth issues with that same tooth, the staff seemed to become shorter. I went to get another X-ray because I was having pain, and no joke, dr Isbell looked at it for a split second, and when I said I was having histamine issues she said I 100% need to pull the tooth. There was no middle ground and I was rushed out with a referral. I was in there for 5 minutes total. Any questions I asked felt like a nuisance and received one sentence answers. I truly did not feel like they wanted to help. I saw two other dentists after her recommendation, and both of them were shocked that she recommended pulling it since the root was barely inflamed. One of the dentists thoroughly explained what might be happening and filed the tooth above my problem tooth a smidge to see if that helped. It did, and it was a very simple fix. To think that I could have paid $8000+ to have my tooth extracted + an implant made by the holistic surgeon Dr Isbell referred me to and given up on my tooth forever.... Really does not sit well with me. I'm writing this review so anyone looking for holistic dentists knows that just because she uses ozone and speaks the language doesn't mean she cares or is worth the much higher price point. Service = A+, accounting/billing = F to the U! Been going here for YEARS and they decided at the end of 2022 that they were no longer going to accept my insurance and never notified me. My wife and I show up for our bi-annual cleaning and X-rays, STILL no mention of the fact that they are no longer part of my insurance plan. Call me up a few days later and tell me that my insurance company has changed how they pay the bills and that they would now be sending the payments to the customer and we had to then pay the dentist. She then told me that the bill was $411 and that she called my insurance and that they have sent me out a check for $411 specifically and I should receive it in the next few days so I paid her with my CC over the phone. Well I got the check for $204 from my insurance so I called them and they told me that my dentist chose to not renew with them and that is why so much of my bill wasn't covered. These people are LIARS and SCAM ARTISTS! STAY FAR AWAY unless you want to pay out of pocket without any prior notification! Just sucks because their service is excellent, you just can't trust them. read more

THIS IS FOR POTENTIAL OR CURRENT PATIENTS (not the dentist or her staff) This dentist is all about gauging her patients however she can and claiming to be "the best" when she is NOT. She convinced me to replace 2 crowns to get all the metal out. And switched some amalgam fillings out as well. I felt so confident by all her words and her "ozonated rinses and air". They had me rent their "sleep machine" for $100 and to go to my naturopath to have the data interpreted. When I took it to my naturopath she told me she had no idea how to interpret it. Secretary begrudgingly gave me some feedback which, of course, indicated I had sleep apnea and needed to purchase a $1000 mouth guard. We declined. Dentist later talked us into spending $400 on a mouth appliance for our 3 year old to "save money" and avoid braces. When our 3 year old cried it was too big she said there are no refunds and if we wanted to spend more we could see their specialist for $75 a session. So now we had an expensive piece of silicone w no purpose. We also were sold a jar of ozone water for $20 and then after purchase told it only is good for 7 days!!! I decided not to buy anything from them bc I realized they just want to make money. Imagine my surprise when after 1 year my crown CHIPPED. The dental assistant was very rude and had me leave w it jagged bc she could not see or feel it and dentist was on vacation. My tongue was catching on it for 4 days...it was awful. When I went in she could finally see it and I was told that it was "for the best" bc the material they used ended having MERCURY IN IT. I asked why we needed to be the ones to pay for it when the claims were false and she said she didn't want to be blackballed in the dental community by pushing back. Good position for her bc she get the money twice.... & maintains her reputation w her dental community. It took 3 crowns and 4 visits for her to get the replacement crown right (she even drilled thru one of them). This all happened between 2017/2018. So why am I just now posting this? Because my OTHER crown just fell off and guess what? FULL of decay underneath. She ran her mouth about her crowns and procedure that would guarantee things to stay tight, secure and CLEAN for years to come. . It's okay to make mistakes, it's okay for things to fail...but nothing points to integrity with this lady. She likes to save face and take your money. read more

Dr. Isbell performed a filling on my 7 year old son's tooth. That filling fell out within two months. She also performed a filling on me that fell out within one month. She redid it and it is loose (verified by 2 other dentists), less than one month later. After speaking with a friend that had an even worse experience than us, we concluded that the dental work is poor and the most important thing to this dentist is the cash flow. Cash flow is important in any business but when the work being done is faulty, it is truly sad. This practice feels like a Scam. read more

First, the good parts: The staff are friendly. They are gentle. The decor is nice and they offer financing options. So far, so good. Now, let's talk about the problems: 1. They want to make a buck. They have done things like saying, "We're going to do a flouride treatment." No mention that it is at an extra cost, and not covered by insurance, until you've had it done. So now you're stuck. They did this to me, and did the same with X-rays for my mom. My mom even asked them to check about insurance before hand -- they did it, it wasn't covered. Good thing mom was smart enough to refuse to pay for these upcharges. 2. Their billing is horrible. They sent me a bill, I paid it. Then they billed me again. I called and said, "Hey, I already paid." Response: "Okay, we'll fix it in our system." One month later, another bill. I called again. Repeat process 3x. It didn't stop until I actually drove there with a copy of the check (that they had already cashed). 3. This one is the kicker -- My whole family goes there, and we don't live in town. We go when we are in town (long story), but we make and keep our appointments. We've expressed our frustration about the up selling, but we paid all of the bills we've had. So, the other day we get a letter -- they want to sever our relationship due to "lack of communication." Really? You want to stop seeing us? DESPITE the appointments we had already made?? Well, guess what - we were already shopping for a new dentist, this just cemented it. I went here for less time than my folks, who added that the staff that was there before Dr. Isbell showed up were much nicer, friendlier, and more competent. I've always felt that the staff was friendly and competent - for the most part, but not on the issues I mentioned before. Overall -- they want to up sell you, and if you don't like it (or their inept billing), you get the boot. Nice staff and decent dentistry doesn't make up for that, so I'd recommend going elsewhere. read more

I had to have some major dental work done-including getting fitted for dentures. Dr. Isbell and her GREAT staff took GREAT care of me and made the whole experience a pleasant one. While fitting me for the dentures Dr. Isbell noticed that my jaw didn't set right, as it had been broken. She made sure the dentures would align my jaw so it could finally heal. Every visit to her office was great. I've never before ENJOYED going to the dentist-but Dr. Isbell and her staff make is a very pleasant experience. There are no words for the care and comfort I felt going to the office. I HATE going to the dentist BUT when I walked in the office it was warm, inviting and felt safe. I'm not sure if it's an office of women or just people who understand fear and anxiety but they were more than comforting; checking in with me constantly and making sure I was comfortable. My son was a patient of Dr. Isbell. She was very nice and so was her staff. We had been living overseas for the previous 7 years and had just returned to California. So, we were not familiar with the prices for any dental work, including a routine filling which was what my son got. We left her office having paid more than three times the average for a filling. There was nothing out of the ordinary done that justified this amount of money. My wife and I just kept thinking that prices sure went up when we were out of country, not realizing we'd been had. We didn't realize it for 6 months when my son's filling had to be removed and re-accomplished by another dentist. We learned the normal, average prices for routine fillings for both children and adults. Additionally, at the first appt with Dr. Isbell - when the need for a filling was diagnosed - my son ordered a night guard through the good doctor that cost almost $400.00. When it arrived several weeks later, it didn't fit him. Since we got the mouth guard through Dr. Isbell we called her thinking it would be an easy thing to return it and get one that did fit our son's mouth. We spoke to one of the nice office staff workers. She told us that Dr. Isbell said there was nothing they could do. What? So I called the company and explained that we were in the middle. I told them that our son's too-big mouth guard was ordered by a dentist who told us she couldn't do anything. They said they couldn't help us, either. But they did ask what my son's measurements were. I told the company that my son's mouth/teeth were not measured. So we called Dr. Isbell's office and asked why my son's mouth/teeth were never measured for the mouth guard. She said, "We order based on the child's age." What? We believe they had this extra child's mouth guard that they hoped would fit, and handed it off to us. In the end we were out the $400.00 for the mouth guard plus the overpriced filling that had to be replaced only months later. We believe Dr. Isbell is borderline incompetent. She's competent enough to maintain her practice and stay slightly below the radar of authorities. Her shortcomings are somewhat shrouded in the extra politeness of her and her staff. We wonder how many of us are out there, but just moved on without saying anything, and chalked it up as a lesson learned. We definitely learned our lesson about Dr. Isbell. She and her polite staff have a good thing going. We are happy for those patients who had positive experiences with her. We were not among them. By a long shot. read more

Took my young daughter here for her first dental visit and I couldn't have been more pleased with the experience. Best experience I've personally ever experienced in all my years. My daughter was initially very scared but was put at ease with Teresa and her wonderful staff. The service was top notch, I love the natural aspect, too. I agree with the other reviewers that this dentist is all about making a buck. Inaccurate quotations of services and what insurance will cover. I received additional billing a full year after services were provided. My out of pocket was extreme to begin with but they had a nice clean office and good marketing material. Now I know how they pay for their marketing. By billing over what they quote and then sending people to collections when they dissagree. I will find another more fair dentist and I will make sure everyone I know in the area knows about their unfair billing practices. It is a small community and they won't survive long with such corrupt billing practices. Dentist took over a wonderful practice with a great staff. Then 'remodeled', first the office then the entire staff... what a mistake. She seemed so nice, but is totally clueless to her inept office staff. After my first visit & billing mistake, (their fault), it took more than a year to finally get it fixed... they wrote off $20., then sent me a letter that they no longer wanted to treat me as a patient "due to lack of communication". interesting.... What a shame, we were patients of the last dentist for over 10 years with no problems, I would never go to this place again. I recently moved to the area from Hawaii, and I wanted to find a dentist on the cutting edge that I could trust. I was dealing with a broken filling on a tooth that had been plaguing me for years because food would get painfully jammed in between the gums. I tried to get help from at least 5 dentists in Hawaii over the years and none of them said they could fix the problem. I was impressed with the level of technological advancement as well as Dr. Isbell's cutting edge certifications. I had my first exam and I was instantly comforted by her warmth and how much it felt like she really wanted what was best for my overall health and happiness. She went above and beyond to help me fix this tooth that has plagued me with pain every time I ate for longer than I can remember. The way she skillfully refilled the old broken filling fixed the issue and I no longer get food stuck in my gums. No more pain! No more carrying floss everywhere I go! She has the ability to think outside the box and come up with unique solutions in a way I have never seen before in a dentist, and she does it in such a caring way. I found Teresa Isbell on Yelp and decided I would give it a try. (A new Dentist for me is a scary thing). They got me in the next Day! The office is super clean and welcoming and the staff is very friendly! Dr. Isbell was awesome she explained everything to me clearly and told me what I needed to get done. I expressed my concerns with her and the way she responded made me feel comfortable - she knew what she was talking about. I came in 5 days later and had a tooth pulled and a cavity filled. What a group of professionals here at Dr. Isbell's office. After doing a Google search for dentists in Auburn, and having chosen her for some major teeth work, I decided to give this place a shot. It's almost a spa like atmosphere inside and even the odors that are associated with dentists offices are missing. Very knowledgeable staff even at the front desk, and everyone there makes you feel at ease the moment you walk in. Great place for people who are terrified or have a phobia with dentists, as she, and her staff will make your visit very stress free, and relaxing. The latest technology is present and the terrifying long needled Novocain injection is made to almost not exists. Everything looks good until you get the bill! I should have known the first day I went in for a consultation and there was a customer at the front desk complaining of a billing issue. I thought it was an honest mistake, but now I becoming fully aware of the deceit and manipulation in this dentist office. Each time I received treatment, I payed in full the amount they told me was my responsibility, and the remainder was to be payed by my insurance company. Then, I received a bill in the mail. After receiving the first bill from Dr. Isbell's office I called to ask why I was being billed. They told me to disregard the bill, "we just want you to know what we are billing your insurance company." The second time I received a bill requesting payment in full, OR I would be sent to collections. I promptly called Dr. Isbell's office and they said it was a mistake, "the claim was denied and they were resubmitting the claim." The next letter I received was from the collection agency. I have acted in good faith to try and get this matter resolved, but I cannot say the same for Dr. Isbell. At no time did any of Dr. Isbell's personnel pick up the phone to call me. No one checked to see if I ever received the bill, or to inquire as to why I hadn't paid the bill. I have called and left messages and they tell me I have to deal with the collection agency now. This is extortion. I do not owe them any money! They are completely unethical and I will be seeing them in small claims court. read more

I am not at all surprised to see that all reviews on this office are negative and wish I would have checked Yelp first. I generally only write reviews when there is something good to share, however, this needs to be said as it was the worst possible experience. I tried this dentist in response to numerous marketing mailers, my dentist was on vacation and I wanted to use expiring insurance benefits. 1. I was very clear in a pre-appointment questionnaire AND phone call to the office that (a) I had limited time to utilize dental insurance and (b) I only wanted treatments covered by insurance. I wanted conservative treatment, only cleaning and replacement of a few old fillings. 2. During the consultation I had a team of staff working with me. They were all unbelievably sweet, and when I finally saw Dr. Isbell she was very nice, as well. However, the demeanor of her staff completely changed when I didn't opt for the plan of nearly $6000 for treatment consisting of 3 crowns, no fillings, a sleep study, jaw muscle TENS unit treatments, permament implements etc. etc. etc...almost none of it covered by insurance. When I reminded them what I came in for, the smiles dropped and they were very unfriendly, the manager actually looked angry. Their reaction caused me to believe there were bonuses involved for upselling. 3. Insurance only pays for one anual cosultation and xrays, so I was stuck. I asked again to simply have a few old fillings replaced. The manager curtly replied that fillings would be $300 each and they had to do 10, resulting in $2000 out-of-pocket cost since insurance has $1000 annual limit. They are clearly not interested in simple dental work. 4. I couldn't pay $2000 - $5000, plus I didn't agree with the recommended treatment. I could not have xrays repeated at another dentist, so per my insurance company, I requested a copy of my Xrays from Dr. Isbell's office manager. In summary, despite 4 requests, I did not receive the Xrays on time and lost an entire year of paid dental benefit. I spoke with the office manager, who was very rude to say the least. They are only friendly when they are selling. 5. Because of the severity of Dr. Isbell's opinion of my dental health, I saw 2 dentists for 2nd opinions, using the exact same Xrays . In summary, I needed 1 crown and 3 tiny replacement fillings. I got the crown and fillings ($140 each, not $300) and had all work done, with perfect results, for $340 out of pocket after insurance by an amazing local dentist. First, let me be honest and say that I am not a big fan of going to the dentist. I have not had a lot of great experiences with dentists and for me to want to write a review about one says a lot. The moment I walked into Dr. Isbell's office I was made to feel at home. The ladies who greeted me when I walked in were not only extremely professional, but warm and eager to help me. The atmosphere was modern, warm, and actually very calming (which is important for those of us who don't like going to the dentist in the first place). The reason I sought out a new dentist was to find someone who can help me with my bite, and the alignment of my teeth. I chose Dr. Isbell not only because of the state of the art neuromuscular dentistry that they offer, but that Dr. Isbell and her staff were determined to help me have the smile I have always wanted to have. What I love about this office is that when I go there, I know I am not only surrounded by a very outgoing, and highly trained team, but I am also going to get state of the art treatment with the best equipment on the market. I have had dentists who care more about taking my money rather than caring for the health of my teeth, but that is not the case here. They were upfront about the cost, and the price was right and well worth it. I am excited to see how Dr. Isbell and her staff are going to change my life by fixing my smile. I have also decided that this is the office that will take care of all my dental needs. (FYI..I have to drive out of town a long distance to get to their office, and trust me, it is well worth the drive). She looked at pictures with the gals of how her teeth and smile used to be, and then looked at the pictures they had taken that day. The patient cried happy tears, and not only that, but her daughter was so moved by her moms transformation that she decided to make an appointment with Dr. Isbell as well. What I loved the most was that the the staff celebrated with the woman and I could tell that the office was invested in her. It's been a few years since my initial visit at this office but I felt obligated to review after my experience this week with an actual genuine and honest dentist. I loved the atmosphere of Dr. Isbell's office and the staff was extremely sweet however when it came down to go over payments I was completely appalled. I made it very clear from the beginning that I was on a tight budget and I needed to stick to what my insurance covered and my budget for the out of pocket expenses. I could not simply pull money out of thin air. I badly needed my wisdom teeth pulled and I wanted the most basic prodedure. I mentioned I could come back later for all of her other suggestions but that seemed to be out of the question. They told me it would be $3000 after insurance for all of these special cleanings they wanted to do PRIOR to my wisdom teeth removal. Yes the $3000 didn't even include my wisdom teeth, the primary reason I came in. They insisted on all of these extras before extracting my teeth. I verified that my insurance covered that days consultation/xrays and I left without having to pay a dime. I then got multiple bills saying I owed Over $100 For xrays that my insurance didn't cover. It clearly was covered, my insurance company vouched that this bill was not valid but they continued to bill me. I left countless messages but no one called me back. Eventually they sent me to collections. I finally got ahold of someone and they were able to verify that yes indeed my insurance did cover the xrays. What a mess for no reason. Unfortunately I do not recommend this dentist what so ever. I will be getting all four of my wisdom teeth extracted for about $400 out of pocket elsewhere. I'm a long term patient of Dr. Isbell's going on 7 years now. I originally went to Dr. Isbell for Invisalign braces and have been a fan ever since. I get compliments on my smile all the time! This is the most amazing group of people. You only need to visit once to know this place is unique. Dr. Isbell is brilliant! She hired the best staff and then takes great care of them. Amanda is an incredible hygienist. I no longer have any fear of having my teeth cleaned. She is never in a hurry and I'm her only priority while in the chair. I was pleased with my new smile but the billing system seems very complicated and the charges for even simple procedures are extremely high. I agree with other comments that the upsellilng here at this practice is prevelant and I was not notified that additional hidden charges were being added. I am dissappointed with the financial hardship that it has caused me and I am not sure how to proceed as it is not fun to start all over with another dentist. read more

This is the best experience I've ever had at a Dental office. I was really impressed with how clean, relaxing and pretty the office is. I love Dr Isbell, She has a really good bedside manner and is very knowledgable, most important to me is that she really listens to my concerns and has the most up to date treatment.
