Tenori is located on the back side of Rodeo 39, but it sure is a place to check out! With its various options of rice balls, I love the ability to order either 1 or 3. The sign indicates how long your wait time is, which is helpful. I ordered only one rice ball today, and service was mid as you order through a kiosk. It was odd as I had inputted my number and expected to receive a text for when my rice ball would be ready and never did. It was not until 10 minutes after, I had approached the counter and asked the server and she had given it to me. The ambiance is simple as the seating is part of Rodeo 39, but a hidden gem of Tenori is that it's next door to a mini arcade, which is perfect for family and kids! Also, it is nearby the outdoor seating area, which is nice for additional games or some sunshine. read more

I find myself coming back for some onigiri either for a small meal or an appetizer to eat with other foods from Rodeo 39 Public Market. There's 8 different choices. I usually get Honey Walnut w Shrimp, Spicy Tuna, Pork Belly, Spam or Tuna w Mayo. Their lychee lemonade is refreshingly tasty too. I think these are a great on the go meal for a picnic or a party though much better when eaten warm. @grace.loves.adventures read more

I've been wanting to visit Rodeo39 for the longest time and I'm so glad I was able to visit. One of the must-visits is Tenori as I saw so many TikTok videos about this place and how they were all raving about how good this place is and it's actually really good! So they serve Onigiri, a traditional Japanese dish made with white rice and a filling and formed into a triangular shape. It is then often wrapped in Nori. So is it Onigiri? Musubi? Which one is it? Onigiri and Musubi are the same thing and are used interchangeably, but if you want to remember what it is, it's essentially a delicious rice ball. Fun fact, omusubi is the same as musubi but when you put an "o" before it, it makes it more of a polite word. Anywhoodles, I ordered the three bestsellers, which are the pork belly, spicy salmon, and kbbq. The menu is on the wall and it's huge and simple. 1 for $4 or 3 for $10. They also have drinks, but the main stars are clearly the onigiris! read more

I wish I had taken pictures! Food was yummy! Service was sweet and the ambiance was clean!

I was craving onigiri so I decided to stop by here since it was close. Located in Rodeo39, they offer a large amount of choices and you can order 3 for $11. I chose two pork belly and honey walnut shrimp. The service was really fast since you order with the kiosk. I thought the flavors were very good. I was able to try the unagi sauce with the onigiri and it paired well if you like sweet sauces! Would come back again. read more

I am obsessed with this place. Take Note I live in south county and drive for their Onigiri aka stuffed rice balls ( Japanese). Super clean setup and I'm a clean freak. The staff is on point each and every time. Helpful, Smiling and answer any questions. I have tried most of them or y kids have. My favorite is spicy salmon , spicy tuna and honey walnut shrimp. My kids love the spam and Korean BBQ. The bonito Furikake is my favorite part of each bite. If you are at rodeo 39,I would grab a trio. read more

i ordered 2 spicy tuna, 1 spicy salmon, 1 pork belly, & 2 kbbq. i chose in the set of 3 for $11 since the individual ones are $4 each. it's great that they have labels for the parchment paper which help you see visually which one is which. however since kbbq was the only label, i couldn't figure out which one was which consider i had 3 other fillings. each one is flavorful but not worth your buck, is only good as a first timer! there was no person in front so they had kiosks instead. there was this girl that was just on her phone and don't have gloves on when she was touching the onigiris... read more

The onigiri here was pleasantly nice. Our party of four shared 9 items of differing flavors. The pork belly, spicy tuna, tuna mayo, and Korean bbq were all fantastic. I'm not a local, but I would recommend this place for a quick bite. The pictures don't really do it justice. You can buy just one if you want, or mix and match 3 and save a buck. Service was quick and we were given a pager while they prepped the food. There was only one staff running the front of house, but she was efficient and got through the line of customers quickly. read more

Loved the size of the onigiri here. Three would definitely be a decent meal, even if it's not much of a deal to get one ($4) vs three ($11). I would recommend trying their more enhanced flavors like KBBQ or the honey walnut shrimp. My friend got those and the smell was delightful. No complaints from our group on their choices! I was exploring other places though so I only grabbed the spam. That was a mistake, since I can make spam musubi and felt like the Tenori one was good enough. It wasn't interesting like the others were. read more

Their seaweed and rice. OOOO. *chefs kiss* Would I come back? HAHA I HAVE. And I will continue to come back! My absolute fav's are the Spicy Tuna & Spicy Salmon Here's what I got: Spicy Tuna: 10/10 - My FAVVVVV - Would DEF get again !! - Enough but not too much spice - Not too much kewpie Mayo - Excellent rice:seaweed:tuna proportion Pork Belly: 8/10 - A little sweet - Good amount of pork - Sweet/salty flavoring KBBQ (again): 7/10 - Tasted like yoshinoya beef. It was thin and the searing was pretty sweet - More meat that last time read more

My photo was taken about an hour after ordering! I would definitely recommend eating this right away so the seaweed doesn't get soggy (unless you have seaweed on hand like me), but I've had Tenori plenty of times before and it is a staple for me to get even if I'm getting food at other places in Rodeo 39. Today I got the pork belly, spicy salmon, and tuna w/ mayo (for my boyfriend who doesn't prefer spice). I've tried almost all the flavors except for mentai and spam. Everything tastes soo good!! The meat to rice ratio is chef's kiss. It really depends on what I'm craving that day but I always get either the spicy salmon or spicy tuna. Parking and seating are plentiful but can get crowded during peak times/weekends! read more

Tenori - Everything off their menu! - Japanese Near Me - Stanton, California

Tenori was the first vendor I ever tried when Rodeo 39 and remains to be my personal number 1 choice when I come here. I recommend the KBBQ, Honey Walnut Shrimp, Pork Belly, or Spicy tuna! KBBQ is probably the best option for those who are trying the rice ball for the first time. The real winner is the furikake they put on each roll. I could just eat the furikake and rice together without the protein if I had the furikake at home. The proportions are just right - not too much rice and just the right amount of filling. Not to mention probably a good bang for your buck - 3 for $11 dollars! read more

I love rice balls and this really hit the spot. I got the buy 3 for $11 which isn't too bad. I tried out the pork belly, spicy tuna, and kbbq. Sorry all hype. Very bland, very dry, and very pricey. 3 for $11 of mostly dry rice. I got the honey walnut shrimp, kbbq, and the tuna with Mayo. All needed way more seasoning, another seaweed brand maybe, and the rice was super dry too. Just overall all three were not good at all. The workers were really nice and the service was fast, that's why i gave 2 instead of 1 star, but yea not coming back. read more

I love the simplicity of this place. They have a limited menu with great options, and each one is made with such high quality that it becomes worth it. $10 for 3 onigiri is pretty good for those who are hungry but don't eat as much as the other places' portions are. I like how they show what the wait time will probably be and that they're available to order online. Probably my favorite place at Rodeo 39. read more

My daughters favorite here at Rodeo 39. Every time we come here, she has to get Tenori. Lines can be long depending on the day, hit or miss kind of thing. We have gone on weekends and weekdays. Sometimes its a long wait and not so bad on others. Tenori serves rice balls (triangles really) wrapped in seaweed with protein in the center priced at $4 each or 3 for $10. - Lychee Lemonade: my daughter did not like it - Spicy Salmon: my daugher's favorite - Pork Belly: my personal fav - KBBQ: my sons fav - Honey Walnut Prawn: not great, wouldn't order it again - Spam: good but just tastes like spam musubi More filling than you would think but you defs need more than one if this is your main meal. read more

Tenori - Japanese Near Me - Stanton, California

I came here with my kid on a Wednesday around noon. It was the last week of winter break for her, so she wanted to come here to enjoy a yummy lunch. This is located inside Rodeo 39, at the corner of Beach Boulevard and Garden Grove Boulevard. This food hall usually gets crowded, especially during prime lunch time (haven't been here in the evenings but assuming it's just as crowded). Although the parking lot is fairly big, it fills up pretty fast as there are other businesses and eateries, too. It was getting packed when we arrived, but luckily we found a spot. Tenori's menu is pretty simple: spam musubi and onigiri - pork belly, spicy tuna, tuna w/mayo, mentai, spicy salmon, KBBQ, and honey walnut shrimp (there's also spicy ahi poke for $9.00). It's $4.00 for one, or mix and match 3 for $11.00. We ordered the 3 for $11.00 (spam, KBBQ and honey walnut shrimp) and a lychee lemonade ($4.50). There was a short line, but it went kind of slow because everyone had to order on the kiosk (there's only one). The musubi and onigiri were good! The spam was a nice thick cut, and there was enough KBBQ meat. The honey walnut shrimp was a bit lacking in flavor for me, but the furikake made up for that. If anything, I wished they were bigger in size, considering the price. I shared the 3 with my kid, but had I eaten all 3 by myself, I'd probably want a little bit more, like a side salad, to feel like I had a good meal. Also, they were so crumbly, especially the KBBQ, which fell apart after a bite. Good to have a fork or chopsticks on hand. The lychee lemonade was sweet and yummy (they only serve lemonade, strawberry lemonade, and lychee lemonade, all 24oz size), but the cup was more than half filled with ice so we slurped it up real quick (see pic). read more

This spot is located in Rodeo 39! One of the newer dinging halls in OC. They do not have their own seating area BUT they are located in the middle of the hall where there is plenty of seating. I ordered the 3 onigiri for $10 -onigiri are filled rice balls wrapped in nori (dried seaweed) For the filling I chose: kbbq, salmon, and pork belly the 3 top sellers! All onigiri were about palm sized and rice to filling ratio was good. I personally thought I'd like the pork belly the most but ended up liking the spicy salmon. The pork belly filling had larger chunks of meat and and although there were bits of fat it was very dry. Same for the kbbq, it was on the drier side but the sliced onions helped with that. So of course the spicy salmon wasn't! The pieces of salmon were the right size and the creamy spicy mayo was delicious. All onigiris were also sprinkled with furikake (sweet and savory rice seasoning - nori, sesame seeds, salt, sugar) which I love! This spot is good for a quick meal - grab and go. I also like how they have a light at the counter indicating what current wait times are! "BLUE = 5-10min." read more

Nigiri is so good. I got the KBBQ & Mentai and both were amazing. The meat inside is seasoned and cooked to perfection and the rice on the outside is perfectly cooked, just the right amount of softness with a good bite as well. Will be back. read more

Onigiri is one of those snacks that I can eat frequently at any random place to curb my appetite and be perfectly content. Tenori is an establishment that serves up some delicious onigiri that I specifically seek out to go beyond just satisying cravings. Their onigiri isn't the standard grocery store style...theirs are of much better quality. I've tried the Tuna Mayo, Spicy Salmon, Honey Walnut Prawn and KBBQ Onigiri. All are really tasty and I enjoy the non-traditional concoctions but my faves are the Spicy Salmon and Tuna Mayo. This establishment resides in the Rodeo 39 Market and not only can parking be scarce, the lines can get quite long as well. However, the lines go fairly quickly so don't let that deter you from skipping out on these flavorful and savory snacks :) read more

My hubby and I were visiting from San Jose and stopped by to try out the tenoris. I'm a big fan of omigiris so I just had to check this place out. We got three of them for $10 which was a great deal! We asked for the pork belly but it was all gone! I was bummed as I knew this was a popular tenori. Instead we got the Kbbq, tuna mayonnaise, and honey walnut prawns. They came out pretty fast and each flavor was quite distinct. My husband liked the Kbbq which was filled with spiced beef. The honey walnut was great too and was still crispy! The tuna mayonnaise needed more salt and was a bit bland. The seaweed and seasoning on the outside in each tenori was on point and really complimented the flavors. The rice was fresh and moist too. I thought they were generally great and a tasty meal or snack. Their flavors are so unique and I would come back to try the pork belly if it's in stock! read more

Located inside the Rodeo 39 on Beach blvd be sure to come off peak hours as parking in this center can be a nightmare especially on the weekends. Thankfully, the service at Tenori is relatively prompt. You place an order at the counter and they provide you with a pager when you order so can walk around if not familiar with this food court. As to the food tried the trio combo and selected their spicy salmon, Korean bbq, and tuna. They were in that order favorite to least. The salmon had surprising flavor, the kbbq is as would expect sweet, and the tuna was more towards the bland side. It is notable and appreciated that this is one vendor that does scrimp on too much rice and less filling. Tenori provides a good portion of protein so every bite get a proper amount. The price may be somewhat on the high side for a nigiri but it's worth a try especially if looking for a savory light meal/snack. read more

This was recommended to me by another foodie so I was excited to try it. Sadly I was disappointed. I like the fact that they had the honey walnut shrimp which I've never seen before. Located in the food plaza Rodeo 39. We came around 2pm on a Sunday & the entire plaza was pretty crowded. Time for waiting & ordering took around 15 minutes. We ordered 3 different flavors- pork belly, honey walnut shrimp, & the spicy salmon. Pork belly - decent but a little underwhelming given the raving reviews Shrimp - had a good crunch to it, but a bit lacking in the amount of meat Salmon - probably the best flavor. Good amount of salmon & very creamy with a lot of flavor Given the relatively small size of the nigiri, each piece was slightly overpriced in my opinion (around $5 a piece). They're more suited for a quick snack to-go rather than a full meal. read more

4.5 so rounding up! Whenever I go to Rodeo 39, I always have to stop by Tenori! Love that they have a deal, 3 for $11 and I usually will double up on honey walnut shrimp and then also get the pork belly. I've also tried the spicy tuna and kbbq but keep falling back to my faves. Ngl, it took me a few visits to notice that they're labeled by the paper they're wrapped in LOL. Before I would just guess which one I picked up, which wasn't the worst thing. I recently tried their poke, which I barely noticed a sign since it's not on their huge wall menu. The poke was fresh but not as spicy as I'm used to! Still good though and my fiancé thought it was a good spice. They also have lemonades and we tried the lychee one which my fiancé loved. read more

Edit: it was pointed out to me that the name of each item is on the wrappers. This onigiri shop inside Rodeo 39 is definitely very cute, minimalistic which I like and service is good. The way they put the onigiri together and presentation is definitely 5 stars. Unfortunately for me... the flavors, Authenticity and texture of the rice and filling was a miss. We got a variety: Bulgogi, tuna, spicy tuna, honey walnut shrimp and spam. The only good one for me was the spam. The others needed more flavor and the tuna, spicy tuna were too mushy. The Bulgogi I found to be too dry. The one I was most excited to see was the honey walnut shrimp.... It didn't taste like honey walnut shrimp at all. All you bite into is batter and light Mayo flavor. Their rice wasn't authentic to actual Japanese onigiri as it was too soft/mushy. However, you can tell they put effort into every order because it was put together very nicely and is great for pictures. I just wish it tasted better. Also... one thing to mention is that they don't tell you which is which so you kind of just have to bite into it. It was also odd bc I asked for a cup of water but the person told me they don't give out water. I personally wouldn't go here again for authentic onigiri. read more

I drove very much out of the way to come here, and I have no regrets. Tenori has become my favorite onigiri spot (sorry, Sunny Blue) for its flavors, portions and pricing. So far, I've tried Spicy Tuna, Mentaiko, Spicy Salmon, KBBQ, Honey Prawn. ALL of them were winners and heroes in their own way, but I'd recommend skipping Honey Prawn since the other flavors were so impactful. They are $4 each or 3 for $10... highly recommend opting in for a few. Two can split one, given the size, but you'll likely not want to share. The staff are great and orders came out quickly. The line to order can get pretty long, though. But Tenori's popularity is well-deserved! Find them at the Rodeo Public Market. Great option for a quick meal on the go, lunch with friends, or date night with drinks nearby. I love the concept of open, collaborative spaces - so casual and diverse, but may not be ideal for anyone still concerned about indoor dining in the age of COVID-19. read more

Food: 3/5 Service and Setting: 3/5 Value: 3/5 I really wanted to like this more than I did, but maybe my expectations were too high. I love rice balls and expect them to be super packed with flavor and fillings. While the food was not bad, for the price, I hoped for better to be very honest. If you are looking for something that is a little easier to digest, Tenori is your place when navigating the food jungle that is Rodeo 39. Honey Walnut Prawn: 4/5 This definitely was my favorite of all of the rice balls that I tried. There was a good amount of filling and it was definitely honey walnut prawn. The most pronounced flavor to me was the walnut. The crispy shrimp and nuts were a good contrast to the soft rice and savory furikake coating. Mentai: 4/5 This was also very good and they packed a good amount of mentaiko into the rice ball. Mentaiko, or myeong-ran in Korean, is spicy fermented pollack roe and is extremely delicious. It is spicy, savory, rich, has a strong-ocean essence, and slightly bitter/fermented. If you are not a fan of seafood this is not for you, but if you do want to try something different, I would say that Tenori offers a very good mentaiko rice ball. Pork Belly: 2/5 I really did not like this one, to be frank. The meat was very sweet and tasted strongly of soy sauce. The bonito flakes on the outside helped a bit but yeah still not a fan. I felt that the flavors were very underwhelming and the intense sweetness was off putting. Lychee Lemonade: 4/5 Their lychee lemonade is pretty good and a lot better than a lot of places that I have had similar drinks at. Lemonade is always pretty sweet so I won't ding them there. The lychee flavor does not taste artificial and there is not that thick sort of syrup taste that you get when restaurants use a lychee syrup. I would not say that this drink matches their food, but it is refreshing nonetheless and I would pick one up even if I was not eating here. read more
