Another fine establishment that contributed to my amazing stay in Granada. Tendido 1 is a unique bar and restaurant situated underneath a bull fighting arena. At first sight, it's warm and welcoming with it's exposed brick, wooden fixtures, wine barrels used as tables and decor on the walls. I was lucky enough to have a friend from Granada dine with us and order what he thought were the best dishes. The food was to die for and seemed never ending. A cold watermelon soup shooter as a complimentary gesture to start our meal. What followed next was an array of typical Spanish comforts, grilled patatoes, sizzling skillets filled with jamon, cheese and vegetables. Baby beans which were a favorite of mine. I wishI could find these little lima bean like beans in the US. Stuffed Fish which melted in your mouth as it was almost mousse like. All of these and other dishes were washed down with some good Spanish cervezas. It was a perfect meal.
The experience was so good that we returned the next day to grab a drink after lunch. It was here that we discovered the brilliant thing about Granada. If you order a beer, it is served with free tapas! We're not talking peanuts and popcorn , We're talking an array of marinated cheeses, bread, stew and potatoes that were served with each drink we ordered. It was pure bliss! This is custom and happens at just about any bar in the town but Tendido 1 topped all of the tapas we tried.
Great find here and worth a walk to as it's about a 10-15 min walk or so from the city centre. read more
