I've been a soul dental patient for 3 years and I keep coming back because I love their staff…read more Everyone from the front desk team, to the hygienists and the doctors are always very pleasant and eager to help. I'm kind of a baby in the dentist chair and I have very sensitive teeth around the gum line so I always ask for extra care and numbing gel before a cleaning. My hygienist always accommodates me and is very careful not to cause me any discomfort that isn't absolutely necessary. (Sometimes I just have to deal with it haha) The office is clean, modern and has fast wifi. I always get seen within 5 minutes of my appointment time and all billing charges are explained to me in advance before proceeding with any work. In fact, I usually get a text a few days before the appointment telling me about any co-pay requirement. Give soul a shot if you're in Chelsea or on the far west side. They make going to the dentist suck a lot less than usual. I always end up laughing and smiling because the staff makes sure of it.

Then they took camera photos claiming they have to even tho I wanted just the cleaning and restate that multiple times. After that they came back and wanting to do just a few x rays. Ok, I suppose I should have been more firm. It did look like they just wanted an extra $$. That was the first red flag. They suggested deep cleaning - sure, even tho that was questionable. The first appointment was uncomfortable and painful on many levels. Injections were the most painful ones I've ever gotten. Treatment was rushed - under 25mins. Water was spraying everywhere. Cleaning itself was quite painful despite numerous anesthetic injections. My neck was in pain afterwards. I mean just horrible experience. I told S, she's not doing any of that again. She started giving excuses - I'm not interested in empty excuses. I told her I'll reschedule with someone else for the left side - after that I'm done with this office. Oh did I mention reggaeton and r&b music was blasting loudly all this time. Seriously?!

I will say, in general, I find that doctors/dentists, etc. try to upsell absolutely everything and it's quite frustrating. As consumers in America we have to be cautious and consider prices before moving forward with something. Even if someone asks, you can say no. Don't be pressured by the sales process! I was having issues with my insurance and Tend told me I could move my appointment or it will be $225 out of pocket at the time of appointment. I decided to pay upfront and hope for reimbursement afterwards, but everyone I interacted with at Tend was upfront and clear about this cost. The experience at Tend is great and super millennial. I like that the waiting room offers tables, accessible charging ports for your phone or laptop & a cute freebie bag. They take it a step above your normal dentist. I waited ~5 minutes past my appointment time and I love that they follow a schedule pretty closely. My hygienist during both visits (in June 2023 and January 2024) have both been excellent, explain everything & it's fun to watch No Reservations and have headphones while getting your treatment. The dentist can be a fearful, anxiety-inducing experience and Tend eliminates this. I will continue to go to Tend as long as my insurance includes them. Thank you!

My visit to Frangella Dental is honestly the first time I've ever experienced positives on both sides and it made for a great experience, despite my paralyzing fear of dentists. Pia did my cleaning and I know I made it hard for her because she was so sweet and funny that I was trying to talk the whole time (sorry Pia!). Making an appointment was easy, all paperwork can be submitted online, and they were very understanding when a last minute client request resulted in me being a bit late. If I could give 0 stars, I would…read more Let me paint you a picture of my absolutely bizarre experience with Smile Design Manhattan, which has officially earned the title of the most chaotic dental journey I've ever had--without even making it to the chair. It all started innocently enough: I called to schedule an appointment. I was greeted by a virtual assistant, not in the office, not in Manhattan, but somewhere in the Philippines. Cool, tech is great. I asked to make the appointment right there on the phone. Seemed logical since, well, I was on the phone. She told me to book it online instead. But eventually, an appointment was "confirmed" for Saturday, April 12th at 1PM. I didn't have my insurance handy, so I called the next day to provide it. That's when I was told... surprise! No appointment existed. No problem, let's do it again. This time, the receptionist told me they'd call me back to confirm if I'd owe anything out of pocket because he, and I quote, "never talks insurance" with patients. Odd, but I played along. Days pass. No callback. I follow up. They now say my insurance is good. I mention the missed callback--they apologize. We move on. But wait, there's more. Days later, I get another call to confirm my appointment--along with another request for my insurance. Yes, again. I called back and politely expressed that I was starting to lose faith in their ability to run a medical office. Still, for some reason (convenience? curiosity?), I decide to keep the appointment. But on the day of, I had a realization: if it's this hard just to book an appointment, what fresh dental hell awaits in person? I decided to cancel. Easy, right? Buckle up. First call: Someone says she can cancel for me and reassures me everything's fine. So I keep the appointment. Then I call back minutes later, speak to someone else who says I'll be charged $125 to cancel. I mention the previous conversation, and he basically says, "Well, they must outrank me," and hangs up on me. Let me be clear--I was polite. There was zero reason to hang up. But I call back anyway (because at this point, I'm invested). They send an "urgent" message to the office. I wait. Crickets. No call. No text. No email. Now it's creeping up on my appointment time and I still have no clarity. Do I need to physically go there to avoid a fee? Should I just show up and cancel in person like this is 2003? I call again, and one of the receptionists actually recommends that I do just that--go in and cancel... in person. At that point, I was out. Completely done. So here we are. Smile Design Manhattan has great reviews--and that's what kept me hopeful. But I honestly don't know how this place is functioning. Between 10+ remote receptionists, multiple dropped balls, and an appointment process that felt like a corporate escape room, I couldn't even make it to a cleaning. All I could envision was billing nightmares, more scheduling disasters, and just overall disorganization. If the front desk is this disjointed, what happens when it's time to pick up a drill? Hard pass. Never again.

This place really attempts to solve so many of my (and I'm sure others) dentist visit traumas. I greatly appreciate the noise canceling headphones (The noise of drilling really does get to me) and especially being able to distract myself with another hilarious and silly Netflix baking show. The thoughtful re-application of lipgloss is so much appreciated for someone who always ends up with wounds that takes weeks to heal whenever I go to a dentist. The weighted blanket at least makes you feel a bit more warm and fuzzy when you have to endure nerve pains, and the aromatic candles is a nice zen touch. Most important of all, Dr. Wong is amazing. I greatly appreciate her transparency, attention to detail, thoughtfulness in how she cares for her patients, and just great dentistry skills. While unlike a restaurant review where I can say I look forward to coming back soon...
