I have an appointment scheduled for next week I am trying to confirm. I tried to confirm via the text reminder asking me to confirm, the app, the website, via phone - all methods fail, clicking "confirm" does nothing. Yesterday, I called to try to confirm and sat on hold for 20 minutes. Nobody picked up. Today I got a call (but missed it, as I am at work) and a voicemail saying my slot would be given away if I did not confirm, so I immediately called back. Nobody picked up. I sat on hold for 30 minutes. I then left work to go visit the office in person to confirm my appointment next week. Despite the hours being "open" , the doors were locked. Please do not give away my appointment. Your system is broken and I cannot confirm. I have tried every way to confirm I know how. read more

I do need to update this because I came back after speaking to the manager and had a much better experience with Dr. Kim. I'm convinced that he's pretty much the only doctor I would like to see here. After expressing my concerns, Mia, the manager, was extremely receptive and did what she needed to do to address it. She seems genuinely interested in understanding what happened during my experience and how it could be better in the future. She set me up with a follow-up visit with Dr. Kim and informed me that additional training would be provided to the previous doctor in question. When I arrive for my appointment, I was greeted with a smile, and still got to enjoy the clean and luxury experience that I expect and enjoy at Tend. Tend is SCAM. They stole my money and they TAKE ADVANTAGE of its patients. I have been trying for months to get my money refunded from a deposit (receipt below) for dental work which I NEVER HAD DONE. I was assured at the time of payment that the deposit would be returned if I chose not to proceed but Tend has failed to honor that promise which is in writing on its site. Tend has refused to provide itemized bills, even after multiple requests. The billing department consistently claims they will call back, but they never do. On one occasion, the front desk staff even hung up on me while I was asking for a copy of my receipt. The reason I am not getting this work done is that the initial dentist I saw diagnosed me with multiple cavities. However, a second dentist at Tend later disagreed with that assessment and advised me not to proceed with the treatment. This conflicting information raises serious concerns about the accuracy and integrity of the practice. I had repeated billing and estimate issues with this dental office and would not recommend them based on my experience. In multiple instances, I was quoted one amount, paid what I was told was my full out-of-pocket responsibility at the time of service, and then later billed additional amounts. One balance ($90) was explicitly acknowledged by the office as their own estimate error. In another case (a crown), I paid $870 based on their quote, insurance later partially paid, and I was then told I owed an additional $400--despite never consenting to charges beyond the original estimate. These were not isolated incidents but a repeated pattern of estimate and billing errors. Insurance processing after the fact does not change patient consent, and patients should not be held financially responsible for provider-side quoting or documentation issues. Where did Dr. Kim go!? Every visit I have emphasized that I have dental anxiety and prefer seeing the same dentist and hygienist. I have called in advance and requested Dr. Kim and a specific hygienist. The last two visits it has not been who I requested or was told I would be scheduled with someone else. The last visit was the last straw for me for several reasons. 1. My appointment started ~20 minutes after scheduled and someone masked and in a surgical suit came rushing into the suite late that I hadn't been introduced to before. They were extremely rough and lectured me with very little context. 2. After they finished doing my cleaning I anticipated seeing an actual dentist, Dr. Kim. and that never happened and I was told "you'll need to see the dentist for a followup..." that was it. It wasn't relayed to the front desk, there was no plan. Just confusion. 3. I have been trying to schedule to get my wisdom teeth out, I've called multiple times in the past few months and asked for specifics around the appointment and was told I would get a call back from the office. I recently got an automated text message that stated I have an upcoming visit for a treatment... I'm not sure if it's for my wisdom teeth, how long it's going to take, who will be taking them out, and if I need a ride home after. Tend Ballston is truly a mess and something is severely off. I would like to give them a 5 out of 5: having a tv with headphones helps gets through the cleaning, their front staff is very friendly, and the dentists have been good. It's also easy to schedule. What brings them down is how pushy their dental hygienists are when it comes to selling add-on services not covered by insurance. When I went today, she aggressively lectured me for 15-20 minutes trying to get me to purchase "Peri-protect" (an $800 tray with hydrogen peroxide) and told me that "mouthwash is a scam" and nothing would be able to help me other than this treatment. She was about 6 inches from my face and kept pushing and pushing until I completely refused. This is totally unacceptable, I have a lot of knowledge regarding gum disease but if I didn't, I might have caved. I would strongly caution anyone against relying on Tend. I went as a first time patient after seeing their ads everywhere, and the experience of going there is very pleasant- the hygienists are incredibly nice, the suites are beautiful, and it's fun to be able to choose a TV program to watch and your toothpaste flavor. However, the dentist I saw recommended literally thousands of dollars of work on my mouth. I see another dentist regularly, so I was pretty shocked at this recommendation. I had my regular dentist provide a second opinion, and he recommended that only one tooth needed work- not nearly half my mouth, as Tend had recommended. Tend is probably fine if you have relatively healthy teeth and are just looking for a cleaning, straightening, or other services. I would be extremely cautious about relying on them for any substantive work and will not be returning. read more

I had been seeing Tend's ad everyday on Instagram for 2 weeks so I decided to give the free consultation a go. When I first registered online to make my appointment, there were very limited availabilities, understandably, and they required my credit card information which I wasn't too fond of given I was just going in for a "free" consultation. They sent me email and text reminders for the appointment and were very responsive to my questions over text. I went in on a Friday morning and street parking was packed. However, I was able to park in the ballston quarter's garage which is only $1/3hours. The exam rooms in the back are bright, modern, and clean. It definitely felt like a cosmetic facility rather than a medical. It was still nice nonetheless. Once in an exam room, an assistant wrote down my dental history and Dr. Kim came in to examine my teeth alignment. Dr. Kim was very gentle and informative. He definitely was not pushy to make me feel like I was forced into any treatment but went over the different options, duration, pricing, and risks and benefits for me to want to consider it more. I didn't schedule an appointment and went to my old dentist to have him assess the situation, and he told me I didn't have a single cavity. My family has been going to him for 30 years so I know he was telling the truth. I have no idea if I had an inexperienced dentist or what the problem here was, but I can't help but feel like I nearly got scammed. Wow, a dentist. Didn't think we'd be reviewing this, but... Tend was great overall! Anyone can be skeptical of shiny millennial branding on the outside. Can they deliver? I'll admit, tend proved me wrong in the best way. Making an appointment was incredibly easy. Gone are the days calling an office to play phone tag. Go to a website, fill out a web form and boom! You're (almost) done! Credit card and insurance info can be entered right on the site. I entered mine before hand. You can pick TV and flavored treatment if you like. Upon arrival, there's no forms and no fuss if you've filled out info online. You get a cute bag, with enclosed toothbrush and paste. You're able to brush before your visit in a semi-private bathroom-type area with sink. The hygienist was polite and efficient from what I could tell, he did an awesome job! Thank you Mohammad! The doctor was professional and personable. We had a good 5 minutes to outline concerns and possible solutions to my crap teeth. This contrasts to prior overbooked dentists I've been to who can't talk for more than 30 seconds before rushing to pass you back. First, billing didn't submit my insurance claim correctly. It wasn't the biggest deal but then I had a hard time getting in contact with someone to correct it. The bigger issue was that Tend had offered a free whitening promotion, which I was very excited about. However, the promotion ads failed to mention a 2 week policy. The whitening appointment has to occur within 2 weeks of the first appointment. Also, no one mentioned this when I was at my cleaning. I was only informed of this after I had my whitening scheduled for later in the month. Very poor communication. Due to planned travel I will not be able to participate in this incentive. It's very aesthetically pleasing and everyone is extremely nice. You feel welcomed the second you enter the door. You can tell there was a lot of attention to detail from the glasses and head phones to the brushing station. My hygienist, Kim, was really nice and explained everything as he was doing it including what he was seeing when he was cleaning my mouth. Dr. Choi, the dentist, was warm and helpful in explaining what she noticed on her exam. Overall a great experience, and eased my concerns over dental issues. I booked a new patient consultation and was told I needed extensive dental work done throughout my entire mouth. I left feeling very skeptical of the whole experience as I have good dental hygiene and have never been advised of any of these issues at my prior dentist who I routinely saw. The doctor also refused to show me where she allegedly saw issues on X-rays and photos of my teeth when I requested. After getting a second opinion it turns out that NONE of the suggested work that Tend wanted me to do was needed and the second opinion doctor was very concerned with Tends recommendation. This is my first ever Yelp review and the only reason I am writing this is so others do not fall into this trap and spend thousands of dollars on dental work they may or may not actually need. Awesome dentist experience! Super easy to book online and choose your preferences. The office itself is crazy nice. I arrived early and they were able to take me in ahead of my appointment time. The dental assistant was super friendly and walked me through what to expect. She took my X-rays and then my hygienist came in. He was so friendly as well and made sure I was comfortable along the way. Features at Tend I haven't come across at other dentists: (optional) numbing gel on gums for the cleaning for maximum comfort, noise cancelling headphones and Netflix shows to watch during cleaning, super handy suction tool that keeps your mouth open to the exact wideness needed for cleaning. I am deathly afraid of the dentist, so much so that I hadn't been in 15 years (I know, wth)! I really tried to take care of my teeth so that I didn't have to ever go back, but my wife guilt tripped me into making an appointment. I started looking up dentists, and came across Tend on social media. It looked cool, new, and not what dentist offices looked like the last time I went (which would be the case since I hadn't seen the inside of one since 2007). The booking process was ridiculously simple, and that made me a little less apprehensive. They were upfront about insurance and costs, but luckily I am a teacher and have bomb coverage. Fast-forward to the day of the appointment, and it couldn't have gone any better. Aside for Maps taking us to the back of the building, we found it easily. The receptionist was kind, assuring, and welcoming. She made jokes, gifted us both with new patient toiletry bags, mind you my wife wasn't even a patient, and let us test out their toothpaste and toothbrush in their little social media restroom area. I felt like an influencer. The dentist assistant Megan took me to my personal room that was tailored to my appointment. I was greeted by a tv with my name, and for me, the simple things like that make the difference. Megan was very gentle in doing my mouth X-ray, and made sure I was comfortable each time she had to adjust the camera. After she was done, she went to get my wife so that she could be my therapy person while I had my cleaning and evaluation (how kind is that?!). Mohammed was my hygienist, and dude was on point! He was gentle, thorough, and meticulous with every part of my cleaning. He made sure I wasn't feeling any discomfort throughout the entire process, and always addressed me by name and said, "Please" if he needed me to adjust my head. He talked me through all the X-rays and pictures they took, and the procedures they needed to do. Dr. Hadar was the cherry on top. She came in, explained everything that was done, cleared up any questions, and did my mouth guard fitting--I had begun to grind my teeth when I slept within the past couple years, and that cause my gums to recede. I even got to watch tv with headphones throughout the entire visit. At the end of the visit, the person in charge of insurance coverage and payments came in to talk me through what was covered and pricing for the mouth guard. Since this was a preventative treatment, my cleaning and X-rays we covered. The mouth guard wasn't free, but my insurance covered over 75% of the cost. They didn't force me to pay for anything, and even asked if I was comfortable with paying for the mouth guard before charging my card. Again, the little things here. Overall, this was the best visit I've ever had. I was taken care of, and made comfortable every moment. I didn't feel like I was being a burden, and I didn't feel pressured into doing anything they said I needed. I highly recommend switching to Tend if you are looking for a new dentist, and my wife is even going to make the switch also. Oh, and did I mention that I had no cavities after 15 years ?! It's incredible to watch Tend's construction over the year to finally opening up! I saw Tend on tiktok for months but there was never one close to me, so I was excited to go. The place looks better than some spas I've visited. When you first walk in, they take you to a brushing room to take selfies and brush your teeth. While you are getting your exam, you can pick which shows to watch. As for the quality of the exam, I thought they were really thorough. This place sucks. Gave me a temporary filling for an onlay and it fell out within 5 minutes while I was waiting in line to pay. Went back in, hygienist tried to act like it didn't fall out (why? There's a giant visible hole in my tooth! Do people just think I want another temporary filling for fun?) and eventually redid it. I found it weird this was delegated to someone who didn't know what they were doing. Fell out again less than a day later. This is a catastrophe - I'm going to keep swallowing temporary fillings on a daily basis while we wait for the tend lab to make my onlay. Sounds like it might be delayed now "due to the holiday" as well. No option to accelerate the onlay. Basically come here if you want half-finished shoddy dental work from people uninterested in doing a job the right way. read more

I had high hopes for my visit to Tend as it was recommended by two close friends. The receptionists were pleasant and the lobby was very modern and chic. However, my hygienist used an ultrasonic scaler to clean my teeth and I found it very uncomfortable - both from a sound (extremely screechy and loud) and pain perspective. I developed a migraine immediately following my appointment, which I largely attribute to the ultrasonic scaler. I was also frustrated since the hygienist provided me headphones and wore a mask herself during the cleaning so I was unable to hear or follow her instructions on opening/closing my mouth. I also, multiple times, said "ow" in response to the pain from the ultrasonic scaler and the hygienist continued to use it, without acknowledgement of the pain it was causing. The doctor who I saw was professional and pleasant but spent maybe 90 seconds total (max) in the room with me. I responded to an automated email from Tend asking about my visit, to which I was notified that a member from the team would follow up. Nobody has called me (and it's been 9 months since my appointment). I would not have written a review about this experience so far but I just received a bill emailed to me from Tend for $150+, which was sent to me 8+ MONTHS after my appointment, and has further irritated me about the experience. Overall, I'm very disappointed from this stressful, painful, and expensive experience. read more

My appointment at Tend in Ballston was a lovely experience from the start to the end. For starters, I was greeted by a lovely front desk attendee by the name of Toni. She was so personable and kind, and answered any and all questions I had regarding a very anxiety-filled visit to the dentist. Her bright smile and wonderful personality really set a great first impression. My hygienist, Kayla, was incredibly knowledgeable and thorough in explaining every step of the process when I was in the chair. She made sure I was comfortable and informed, and I greatly appreciated that. The attention to detail from x-rays to cleaning was obvious, and I look forward to working with her in the future. A top-tier professional in her field! Lastly, Dr. Haidar chatted with me regarding my treatment plan and overall dental health. She could tell I was overwhelmed and anxious. I am forever grateful for her calming nature and her assurance that all would be okay. She was very explanatory and made sure I understood all parts of what she plans to treat.
