My home HVAC unit developed a serious problem, the coil went bad, the unit wouldn't hold refrigerant and thus I had no heat or cooling because mine is a combined unit and refrigerant in the system is needed for it to produce heat or cold air. The manufacturer wanted to replace only the coil under my warranty, but the part was on backorder, with a 2-3 month estimated wait time. Some months back, after our fifteen or so year old top-of-the-line Carrier unit began to fail intermittently, a good friend, also a well-connected developer here in LA and the SFV recommended Yossi Dahan and Temptechs. Within the day, he was here for an hour, analyzing the system and issues, and promised to circle back with some options for us to consider - repair being one. I know a bit about HVAC and after many Q&As with Yossi and conversations here at home, we decided on replacing the tired unit with something more powerful, energy-efficient, high-SEER 0- this was for an upper unit, west-facing duplex at the mercy of summer heat. Not only did Yossi show up when he said he would, return calls immediately or soon after, and provide an extremely fair quote, but the back side of the planning, construction, and install was a seamless and reliable as his (and his extremely proactive manager, Michael); his very knowledgable, proactive, and CLEAn crew were as equally impressive. The integration of the new units, vents, properly sized and installed flexi ducts and registers, and wi-fi t'stat coupled with his follow-through before, during, and after the project was flawless and set a standard that other contractors (NOT just HVAC) should learn from. Temptechs just installed my new central AC with Goodman condenser#140371. I HATE the loud humming noise which sounds like a dentist's drill. Temptechs's owner Yossi says it's normal, other condensers are even louder! I never thought to inquire about the noise rating of this Goodman condenser, because I have never heard any such loud central AC make such annoying humming in any home similar to ours in our neighborhood. Checking this condenser's specifications on Goodman's website I do not see the noise rating which would have cautioned me to compare it with other condenser brands. I was trusting Yossi /TEMPTECHS to install his condenser recommendation & he likes Goodman. I should have listened to another dealer who said that Goodman is on the lower quality end. Instead of spending almost $8000 for this headache humming noise, I could have installed a couple of best rated quiet window units for this small house for 1/4 of the cost. If the dealer can do something to muffle this awful humming, I will adjust my rating. Yossi is a nice fellow, but while he talked about his installation, he never mentioned this condenser's noise rating, and this awful humming noise. He now explains (after the installation!) that AC noise is the loudest compared to the house fan or heater. This should have been discussed at the top of the list when Yossi came out to check my house for his AC proposal This loud humming was beginning to give me a headache today. I doubt I will turn this Goodman AC much unless it's hot. read more

It's HOT!!!!! Yes, hot in Riverside that is. Where houses are cheaper (then L.A.), where the food is more affordable (then L.A.) and where people are nicer (then L.A.). B U T it is hot as hell and I am not ready to be in Hell (not just yet) so this is where Temptechs came into play. My house was 103 degrees INSIDE. If you can't figure out how hot that is, lets just say that all the food in my fridge was warm, the frozen stuff in the freezer was thaw and all my beer was warm. I DON"T drink warm beer!!! So Temptechs came to the rescue and converted my personal hell into a cool haven. Within a couple of days I had a brand new A/C unit with all new duct work. A few months ago my parents' air conditioner stopped working. They called some company and the tech that showed up charged several hundred dollars and did not resolve the problem. My parents were upset but the winter started so they let it go. A couple of months later, it was a super hot week and we were looking for someone to come asap. Yesterday it was 106 and of course my AC decided to act up but it was still working on and off. Then last night late evening it stopped working all together. First thing this morning I called another AC repair service - they said they would call back in 20 minutes to schedule something. 3 hours later and no call back, I decided to call TempTechs. They took my information and within 10 minutes, Joe called and scheduled something within the hour (the same day!). Joe was extremely professional, knowledgeable, and friendly and took the time to show and explain to me what the problem was. He fixed the problem and charged a very reasonable price. On a referral they came out and reconfigured my condenser unit. Charged $1200 for a simple job. Months later we noticed a water leak that ended up coming from something they had to have broke while up there. When I called he denied everything and then quoted $450 to simply replace the $50 part they broke. Then upon further investigation the unit was sucking in air from their incompetent work. Now we have water damage and I easily fixed what they way over quoted what they should've fixed for free. On top of that we had no heat for a week and it's been cold. With my wife having recent major back surgery, a cold house is not a good situation. Never an apology or any concern whatsoever, Just arguing. We honestly are flabbergasted by their lack of remorse or care in the matter. In regards to the business owners reply. Most is true and it's a he said she said situation. The part that got broken didn't leak prior to the update work and couldn't just spontaneously break. It's thick plastic and took some force to break. They're denying touching and or breaking said part that was in fact directly involved with the update. And since Temp Tech were the last ones to touch anything then it's easy to asses. And again, no apology, just denial. 24-Hour Emergency Service they say? When the unexpected occurs, Temptechs will be the quickest to resolve your problem: 24-Hour Emergency Service Typical response time is a quick 2-4 hours We're available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year I called on Friday and the tech arrived on Monday. All he did was look at it and didn't even try to fix it. I also told them over the phone what it would take to fix it yet they gave me (days later) the overly inflated estimate instead. I had to order the part(more delay) and install it. Just another example of modern day business practices. The customer is no longer right once the work is done.
