Everything was beyond wonderful- from the cocktails to the salad to the main entrees. Service was fantastic as well. Highly recommend!!!

Hilarious to find one of these machines and still works!!

Been around for 76 years according to Kathleen the lovely hostess. Looks like a hole in the wall from the outside and the indoor decor dates itself but man oh man, must try. Delicious, great service. Love people watching here.

Table for two by window

I'd been mentioning this restaurant to Bruce for a while now. I'd walked in on a day trip to the island before, because you can't beat the sign & the old Florida ambiance and I told Bruce, "I think this is our kind of place." Last Friday, Bruce called for a table over the weekend and the lady laughed at him. He said she was "curt." So last night he surprised me by saying he'd gotten a table at 6:15 but we had to be out by 8:20. I started thinking, "This reminds me of something ..." [yes - Musso & Frank, White House Laguna, old-time Sycamore Inn] We got there and the hostess was kind and welcoming in person. She led us through the much-bigger-than-I-thought restaurant and the liquor cabinet. We got a table we were very thrilled with - by the back window. It reminded me of several places in "old LA" or "old Palm Springs" with its own special Florida flair. Our young, kind servers were all excellent and the party that sat next to us was a mom, dad, two grandmas, and the cutest little baby girl ever. They have home-grown looking murals and artwork on the walls and the restaurant's history is something to be proud of, as well as fascinated by. That said - our meal was one of our "good ones" - the food is oldschool but done right. We had the spicy crab dip which was seriously like something you'd get at Musso & Frank or maybe White House in Laguna Beach. An old recipe served in a traditional way. The chowder was excellent. I ordinarily don't order fried food but they have several fried items that are coated in extremely light, crispy, minimal batter. Oysters raw or cooked are one of my favorite foods & these were very good fried oysters. The baked potato was perfect & fluffy. The green beans were oldschool - with a little bit of pot liquor & spice. Bruce had crab cakes and he really enjoyed them. I fell off the sugar wagon & ate quite a bit of Bruce's caramel cheesecake. This thing was insane, it was like a candy bar in a crispy, buttery, brown sugary graham crust. It was so so sweet but had that dark caramel flavor with salt & graham, very good. So, this is the type of restaurant you need to show respect for, and they will treat you accordingly. You have to call ahead and make sure you get reservations and be kind to them, because it is always packed.

The saying goes "its not how you start but how you finish" applied to our visit we made reservations (this is a must) for 6pm. Arrived a few minutes early and the welcome was not very warm. We grabbed a seat at the bar and grabbed a drink while our table was prepared. Barkeep was more interested in others and we thought this was going to be a mess. We were seated and waited several minutes for our server. She apologized and mentioned that opening is usually a bit hectic. From that point forward our experience went great. I had the chowder to start and it was amazing. My wifes salad was really good too. I decided on the crab cakes and they were superb. My wifes grouper was outstanding as well. Our server took great care of us and the meal was a hit. This is a mist place for a meal.

Came before dinner and after lunch. The bar was the only thing open. We sat at the one hightop in the bar area. Grouper fingers and fries were delicious. Lightly breaded like we like. The man working the bar was friendly and attentive.

Step back in time to Old Florida

A visit here is a trip back to Old Florida. Step through the original doors and you're magically transported to the 50's -- 60's with hand painted murals on the dining room walls, a 1950's cigarette machine located on the way to the restrooms, and bathroom sinks that have separate hot and cold faucets, just to name a few of Temptations' highlights. Following a foodie friend's suggestion, I ordered the Grouper Reuben. It's served on a toasted marble-rye bread and served with your choice of two sides. One of my sides was fresh fruit, and let me tell ya---the fruit was so fresh and delicious! So, if you're looking to travel back in time AND have a great lunch, YA GOTTA EAT HERE! :-D

Very cool old Florida ambience with seafood as fresh as it gets. The fried shrimp and oysters were outstanding.

Delicious topping & sauce. Highly recommend. They come 2 per order and they split them on plates for us since we just wanted a snack (only went in for a drink). The onion rings were also way above average, crunchy and delicious! Austin the bartender is really sweet and keeps the customers happy. Enjoyed sitting at the bar so he could serve us again. Don't recommend going on a holiday weekend though. What were we thinking? Well the beach had no parking and the streets were very busy. Glad we found a place to park at the pink elephant. We just wanted a little beach outing for vow-renewal "anniversary." Wink. Probably going again soon on our engagement anniversary!

My friend who has an allergy was served the wrong food and we never received refills on our drinks, water, etc. The food was good. Presented nicely and pretty good portions. I finally had to get up and go find our waitress inside at the end to get our check to leave. Would have loved to have a good experience. May try one more time.

The seafood is fresh, simple, and exactly what you want after a day by the water. Their fish & chips were crispy, flavorful, and done right, and everything just tasted like it belonged there. What really makes this place special isn't just the food--it's the atmosphere. Relaxed, unpretentious, and genuinely enjoyable. You can come in sandy, sit back, and just enjoy the moment. It's not about being fancy--it's about good food, ocean air, and that laid-back beach feeling you don't find everywhere. Definitely a spot worth stopping at if you're anywhere near Boca Grande.

She's 90 pounds and can barely walk. We arrived and I had her with her walker slowly behind me. As I was approaching the host station an elderly man very ru says that I can't bring that in here. I'm confused and thinking he was talking about her walker. As the rudeness continues he finally says that my soda can. As it's pretty much empty I offered to take it to the table to be thrown away. I didn't want to leave it there at the welcome station that had no apparent trash can. I'm thinking germs! He then proceeded to tell me to go somewhere else to eat, those are the rules ect and I'm still baffled by the way he was talking to me as if I'm a criminal and unlawful. I'm baffled that I could be treated so rudely. I obviously didn't want to take her somewhere else as the hour is so important as that's all the energy she has. He could have been welcoming, kind and stayed the drink and I would obliged easily. Instead I was humiliated and disrespected We had a nice waiter and food was fine but as we were leaving the other waitresses on review had apparent chip on their shoulders as well. As if they didn't want to be bothered. I havent been to the restaurant since had reopened and I certainly won't be back! Customer service needs to address this issue!!!!
