I love the coffee and food here! The lavender latte is my winter guilty pleasure. The outdoor area in the summer is very nice, and it is nice to have extra seating. I love the avocado toast and their pastries are good too. My only complaint is the price. Every time I go get a latte and avocado toast, I walk out with a $20 bill after tipping. That is a little steep for coffee and toast in Appleton. However, clearly I keep coming back and people also continue to pay it because it is always packed. read more

Great breakfast place along the Fox Cities Marathon trail - easy jog from town and well worth the stop. Cappuccinos are delicious and the barist(or) was a whiz at making fun designs. I had the avo toast, spicy greens on top added a kick. The patio was shaded with several tables or couches for a much needed rest. I'll definitely be back to try some other dishes! read more

Great coffee and great ambiance! I took 1 star away because I was so excited to finally get a cute fancy latte with foam artwork here (since the coffee I've been getting lately has always been to go in a rush so of course in a boring to go cup) but they apparently ran out of clean large mugs and put mine in a paper to go cup :/ but my friend got a cute little art foam latte since she ordered a small. I would have rather waited for them to clean more mugs since we were there to sit and enjoy coffee as well as breakfast. They also didn't have the chestnut latte anymore that we were excited to try but that's ok I got a pumpkin spice latte and it was delicious. I also ordered the waffles and omg were they good! I was in town for work and found this gem. I live in MPLS where we have no shortage of great coffee shops and this one might have topped any of them. Food was great. The quintessential indie coffee shop in both menu and decor. Tempest is adorable and I've had some of the best lattes ever here. Their menu is impressive and contains some unusually delicious concoctions. I didn't get a chance to try for myself, but I hear their baked goods are amazing as well (and all vegan to boot)! We had such a delicious breakfast and coffee at Tempest! I really loved my veggie quiche and salad. They have a veggie and meat quiche option each day, which was perfect for this vegetarian. The quiche was so flavorful and full of fresh veggies, herbs and cheese. It came with a side salad with crisp lettuce, radishes and pine nuts. The dressing (vinaigrette) was homemade and perfectly emulsified. They had a number of veg and vegan options on the menu, and their entire bakery case was vegan. My coffee with oat milk was fresh and definitely third-wave coffee quality. I would highly recommend stopping by and grabbing a cozy seat inside (it's beautiful in here!) or a table outside overlooking the water. read more

Definitely the cutest spot in Appleton! It's right on the river and tucked away from the downtown, but near another restaurant and apartment buildings. There's a beautiful patio with lots of seating. Some of it is in the shade and there are also big umbrellas you can open. Inside there is less seating but a cute area with a sofa that's picture worthy. Thy have a full coffee menu and also food items; avo toast, pretty waffles and quiche etc. Their pastries looked good, though I didn't try any. Service was friendly and helpful. The place was bright and clean. Overall: recommended above other coffee houses in the area. read more

I really enjoyed this little hidden gem. Loved the look inside... very bright with lots of windows, cool flooring, big case of baked items and huge drip coffee brewers? (Clear glass things with tubing...I have no idea what they were called but, I loved it). We found a table outside under a pergola canopy, it's right on the trail in the newly developing area next to the river. I ordered a house coffee and the blueberry waffles, my friends had the tea, and a breakfast sandwich waffle. The portions were large and very delicious. I thought the prices seemed fair and comparable to other local breakfast places and coffee shops. The shop was pretty busy, it was a Sunday morning at 10am ...so my only complaint would be they were completely out of forks (I asked at the counter and he said they were probably in the middle of washing more) we ate our waffles with spoons. I think maybe if an employee would have walked around and collected some of the dishes that may have helped. Also, we joked about the cup and mini pitcher that the tea was served in. I thought it was super cute and trendy looking... but, the cup was so hot you had to wait a long time to drink out of it. I am seriously convinced that you will not find as cute of a place in 20 square miles. At least. I am in town visiting in Neenah from the east coast and this is something you would find in and around NYC -- Brooklyn, particularly. The light gray hard wood floors with the semi-distressed furniture, silver and gold accents, and funky music all set the tone for a super enjoyable experience. Imagine if Restoration Hardware, Anthropologie, and West Elm made a coffee shop in WISCONSIN - this would be it. If this was the vibe the owner was going for in his/her vision of this place, they nailed it. There is also greenery throughout and fresh flowers/succulents on each table. If you are looking for not only a good drink at a reasonable price, but also a SUPER instagram-worthy place that will have all of your followers asking "WHERE IS THAT?! NEED TO GO," look no further. Here is where this place falls short of 5 stars for me: transparency. I got an iced matcha with oat milk and then about an hour later also got an iced chai with almond milk. When I was placing my second order for the iced chai, I noticed that the menu said $3.75 for a medium iced chai but he told me my total was $4.99 so I questioned him. He then informed me that any milk other than cows milk is EXTRA!? Wtf this must be a Wisconsin thing. I've been to coffee shops in probably 35 different states and at least 10 countries and have literally NEVER heard of non-dairy milk being extra. I guess it sortttt of makes sense in a place like WI but still. You would EXPECT the cashier to say something along the lines of "oat milk/almond milk/etc are extra is that ok?" To which I would have said yes because I don't eat dairy, but that's not the point. The point is he didn't tell me. AND that it's over A DOLLAR EXTRA for a couple ounces of "speciality milk." Seems outrageous to me. As a customer, it seems shady that he didn't tell me about the discrepancy in either of my orders, even if he didn't mean to be shady about it. Similar to how every time you go to Chipotle and ask for guacamole to be added to your burrito they say "guac is extra is that ok?" If you go with any sort of frequency, you'd know this but they continue to say it anyways in the event that it's your first time in to a Chipotle. They want to make sure you're as informed as possible and not surprised at the register. I digress...the iced matcha was good but not THE best iced matcha I have ever had as I prefer mine to be a bit stronger - a little less sweet and a little more matcha, if that makes sense. I preferred the iced chai as it was heavy on the chai spice. There is also ample seating - from high top bar seating, diner seating at the baristas counter, standard 4 person tables, 2 person tables, and a super cute lounge area with cushioned chairs and couches. The outside area is also ADORABLE - no detail was overlooked and of course the fact that it is right on the water adds to the experience. Note: they also serve ALCOHOL! Yayyy. I have only ever been here for caffeine but look forward to coming here for a happy hour drink or two. They have various wine and beer, no hard liquor. 8/10 would recommend and can't wait to go back. read more

This is a tucked away gem! The atmosphere is light and welcoming. I had the best cup of silver needle tea (a first for me). On our way there, we decided what we wanted based on the picture of the menu on Yelp; however the picture is out of date--a year old. Tempest Coffee was a surprise find in Appleton, WI. I honestly wasn't expecting a well curated coffee and food menu. The food was delicious. I had the quinoa bowl, which was very clean and light on flavor (kind of bland, but something I needed after a night of cheese curds and beer). My boyfriend had the hunter sandwich, which was super delicious and something I recommend. Also, I ordered the Yama latte, which had a slightly sweetened/cinnamon-y taste.
