I recently bought a new mirrorless camera, and let me tell you, I was very intimidated by all its capabilities. I took this class last Saturday. Hector is not just a professional photographer, but an excellent teacher. You don't always get both in one person. His class is organized in a way to get you from little to no knowledge outside of point and shoot, to a great understanding of your own camera's features. He is patient in his teaching style and explains each step in a way that makes sense. I went from using my DSLR camera in point and shoot for 10 years to feeling comfortable to using AF,TV and manual mode on my camera. This was my goal and with Hector's help, I got there! If you, like myself, purchased a camera with all the bell and whistles and you're still doing point and shoot, then this class is for you. My camera is a Ferrari, but I was still using it with the training wheels on. Hector's class opened up a whole new world of possibilities for my photography. I had read blogs and watched You Tube videos, but nothing compares to the one-on-one, hands on training Hector provided. He concentrates on teaching the fundamentals and then ties it all together at the end. I found the class engaging and I would definitely take it again as a refresher. From Dennis D. Took Hector's photography class yesterday, March 26th in Temecula. I had an awesome time with my classmates and learning sooooo much from Hector about the functionalities of my camera. There is a ton of information shared, and a lot to take in, but that is exactly what I was looking for. We learned about everything from simple concepts like quality settings, not using filters and why, to the proper way to stand and hold the camera... all the way to understanding the functions, settings and buttons on your camera. People in our class had (3) different cameras, and I was impressed that Hector knew how to teach and coach for each one. I spent an hour in my backyard this morning taking pictures of plants, flowers and decorations with morning sun making sure all that I learned had soaked in and I was comfortable with my new knowledge of my camera. AND I WAS SHOOTING ONLY IN MANUAL MODE... I was changing Aperture for more depth of field, changing ISO and metering for lighter or darker results ... WOW! I took the get out of Auto mode class this past Sunday in Temecula and it was awesome. Hector was a great facilitator and was able to teach to all levels of the class. The class consistent of 6 of us and each of us had a different camera and Hector was able to adapt and teach to each camera. I have taken a couple of photography classes and by far this was the best class. As part of the class I discovered setting that will help make me a better photographer. I recently (Temecula May 1, 2016), took Hector's class, get out of Auto Mode, and was not only thrilled but completely amazed with what I learned. Hector has a gift of teaching to all different levels and learning styles. He doesn't simply show you the buttons on your DSLR but allows you to take pride in discovering, while thinking for yourself, how they work and why. His interactive techniques were extremely well planned, organized, and at times had a fun comical edge, only adding to a beautiful relaxing day. Just took the part 1 class, get out of Auto, and it was awesome!! I learned soooo much and Hector is super patient, and kind. He really wants you to understand and grasp what he is teaching. I would highly recommend this class! It got me even more excited about my camera and not to feel intimidated. Took this class this weekend and it was great. Hector is a great teacher. He makes sure that you understand everything and answers any questions you have. When I started this class I knew very little about my camera, I learned so much about all it's settings and how to properly use them. When you arrive he give you a notebook that you get to take home, which goes over everything in the class. You learn so much and have fun. I took Hector's class this past Sunday. I had never used my camera on manual before. The class moves through all aspects from how to hold your camera to shooting on complete manual. Hector takes the time to make sure you understand each step along the way. The one on one attention you get was so helpful. The class moves fast but Hector makes sure you are getting it. The next day I went back out to the park with my notebook. I was able to revisit all I learned and felt I had a good understanding of my Camera. I took the workshop "Get out of Auto Mode". I had just bought my new DSLR and had very little knowledge about photography and how to use my camera as it was my first DSLR. I have to say that this workshop is some of the best money I have ever spent. I went into the workshop knowing very little and at the end of the workshop I had a very good understanding of how to use my camera. Prior to this workshop I was only using Auto mode and playing around a little in Aperture and Shuttle mode. After the workshop and gaining the understanding of the advantages of using Manual Mode it is the mode I primary use to shot now. For me I knew what wanted to achieve in taking a particular picture but I didn't have the knowledge of how to set up the camera to obtain it. After the workshop I now know how to use the settings and controls on the camera to obtain the look/effect I was looking to achieve. Hector is a great teacher and is very patient. He explains the concepts in a way that someone like me that had no photography experience can easily understand. I will be looking to take more classes from Hector in the future because of how much I gained form this workshop. If you bought your first DSLR camera and are trying to learn how to use it do yourself a favor and take this workshop. What good is it to have an expensive and capable camera if you don't know how to use it? I highly recommend this workshop. read more

I had been wanting to learn how to use my Cannon Rebel T3 in Manual Mode and wanted a hands on class VS. an online class ..I found Hectors class by searching the internet for a photography class in my area "Temecula". Took the pt. 1 Class "Getting out of Auto Mode" .. and it was awesome. Hector took all the fear out of switching from Auto to Manual. He Has a Simple way of explaining things and teaching you how each manual mode works. He brings a binder with all the information he teaches in class and sends each student home with their own binder. There were 8 people in class (his max.).. and we all got his hands on attention and help throughout the class .. and we all pitched in to help one another. It was a full day of information and hands on teaching. Hector was very friendly and welcoming and very easy to understand and work with. I asked him on lunch break how long it would take before I would be totally out of Auto Mode and he said the end of this class .. and sure enough .. I'm out of Auto Mode ! .. I'm looking forward to practicing and getting better with time and can't wait to take another of Hectors classes in the near future. If I could choose 6 stars for this class, I would! This was one of the best photography investments I've made since I purchased my camera. I loved every minute and learned more than I could have hoped to! From the moment I signed up for the class, Hector communicated with me about my camera, the pre-course work, etc. Then, on the day of the class, I got so much more from the class than I could have expected. There were so many basic skills taught in a manner which made them understandable and enjoyable ...the class was actually FUN! I walked away feeling like I could be confident taking photos in many situations (and not just in the ONE mode I knew how to use). I learned all the buttons on the camera and I'm beyond excited to start playing around with my new knowledge. I'm grateful for the expert knowledge, the easy way Hector presented it and that it was so enjoyable and understandable. read more
