One of the two queen beds with Pendelton blankets

What a beautiful hotel. What a lovely stay we had. Our room was #6 and the view of the mountain was magnificent. The floor creaked and I love that. The windows are old and I cracked it on the block for the mountain air. The care takers are lovely. Mouse (call sign) is who I spoke to each day as his wife was out. Such great stories. This was such a warm homey place. The history of the building is wonderful. There is even art on the wall that was discovered under wall paper and framed over to look like a picture. The Dale Tiffany Lamps and antique décor is so charming. It feels like the movie "Somewhere in time". The bed was comfy as well as the chairs in our room. There is even a *snore set of single use plugs* and a night eye mask if needed. A lovely community kitchenette with coffee, tea a refrigerator and microwave. This is a must stay in Silverton. Choose the room that suits your mood...honeymoon, family, friends trip....no matter the reason you will enjoy!

The host were attentive and the B&B was within walking distance to the Main Street. They also excepted dogs and they also had a cute dog. I thought the room was cozy although my friend who actually booked the room did think it was small. It is a historical building so I think in relation to todays standards it is small but it's was built in 1898, so just know the rooms are small and enjoy the coziness. They offered a breakfast, but when we arrived the host was on the phone booking a guest. We both were a tad confused on how to proceed so we decided to leave and get on with our day. I think a bit more communication regarding the breakfast would have made it a better experience. I would definitely stay there again even with the breakfast miscommunication.

I looked at all the hotels in the area, and this one stood out for some reason. The Alma House hotel was a wonderful experience for me. The owners, Matt and Mikki, were very gracious hosts. I enjoyed talking with Matt, who is very knowledgeable of the history of the area and also of the hotel. Very personable and nice guy. The breakfast was excellent, and the room was cozy and comfortable. I have absolutely no complaints. Thanks again Matt! Ben L. Hondo, TX

Pet friendly, lovely historic building. Judy was a gracious…read morehostess who went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable. Her breakfasts were amazing although she offered to give us some vouchers for breakfast in town if we wanted to explore other places, but we loved the whole setup with the blue-white china and the amazing birdwatching from the breakfast nook, and the food was even better. Eggs as you liked it, fruit, yoghurt and gluten free pancakes( would've never guessed if she didn't tell me that the were her recepie w quinoa other healthful flours), and another morning, even got a unique treat of home made elk sausage gifted from a local friend. There are two rooms downstairs, high ceilings and period furniture , one with a huge bathroom with big jetted tub and great views of the mountains. She had a lot of her original artwork displayed everywhere, we saw more of it later displayed in the local rum barMontoyas( great cocktails!) We spent 4 nights there on New Years to ski Silverton, and there was so much snow that fell our first night she even offered to drive us up to Molas Pass and show us a nice hike for our puppy, since our two wheel drive rental wouldn't have been safe to drive. It was a real nice gesture and we had a blast. There are two other resident puppies, both poodle mixes so hypoallergenic like my dog was, who were adorable, but still Judy was very respectful and only let them out after we requested that our dog meet them. Obviously not every guest likes animals and she was very polite about keeping them out of the way until we asked to meet them. Apparently she is truly pet friendly as she said her B&B hosted a variety of different animals from llamas to a hawk ( for a movie shoot). Lovely ,cozy, comfortable, can't wait to return!

Even coming from the "easy" approach (from Ouray, not from Telluride), our rental vehicles struggled in perfect weather. 4WD recommended for any trip there. 2. Opus Hut has bathrooms, but zero bath/showers. There is an out building with a wood-burning sauna, but that is as close as it gets. 3. Be prepared for a significant vertical hike at nearly 12,000 ft. elevation to get there from your car with all of your gear. 4. Be prepared for cold! Even in the summer it is cool and evenings are cold. There are stoves but no central heating. 5. Know that you are getting away from it all, and plan to get nowhere else while you are there, except for some beautiful hiking trails in the amazing mountain setting. 6. No internet or cell phone coverage. See #5. 7. The Hut has no soundproofing, so hopefully your group all likes going to bed or being quiet at the same time. My room had a giant window with no cover, so I was up with the sun every morning. Again, all of these issues have both pros and cons to them, and my 3-star review is classified by Yelp as "A-OK". So if you aren't scared off by this information, you'll probably have a great time.

Bob was an amazing host and great cook. The hut was in a great & remote location surrounded by days of hikes. If you drive from Telluride tho, make sure you have a true 4x4 with actual clearance. We took the drive with a semi 4wd rental car and it was probably the most freighting experience of our lives ha. Poor planing on our side hut hopefully a lesson learnt for others. If you're a die hard mountaineer or people like us who enjoy a good adventure and getting outside your comfort zone, I def recommend this place. Thanks bob!
