I have mixed feelings about this inn. * I was pleased to know they accept dogs, and the fee was fair ($30 per pet for the duration of your stay) however upon checking in, they seem pretty anti-dog by the laundry list pet policy form you have to read and sign. It was mentioned dogs are not allowed to be on the bed and the dog pet area to relieve themselves is an extremely tiny area. I was traveling with two dogs and let them know immediately after booking my reservation that I did have two dogs, and upon checkout i went into the office to check out and get a receipt and luckily saw I was overcharged for (3) dogs. To their credit, they corrected that without hassle... but I assume had I not gone into office and checked out it may have been missed. * The room itself was spotlessly clean, so kudos to the housekeeper for that! Great job! The outside premises were tidy also. * The bed was what I believe to be a full or a small queen so pretty tiny but very plush and soft! Pillows were way too firm and thick for my liking but luckily I brought my own! But beware... THICK pillows with not much give! One thing that wasn't super great was the bed only had one accessible side to get in. The other side was about 4 inches from the wall since the room was super tiny in size... half the size of a "regular" motel room. *Bathroom - the bathroom was clean, had a nice vent window in the shower area which I liked and also loved the little baseboard heater in the bathroom. The water was another story! I'll attach photos, but it was continually gross brown water... now I previously managed a hotel for 15 years and have family who own hotels and it's not uncommon to get sediment buildup in pipes in rooms infrequently occupied now and then but usually after you run the tap for a few mins it goes away. This was not the case! I took 3 showers in two days and and the person with me took 2 or 3 showers also... long 15-20 min showers and the water continued to be gross and brown. I don't know what's going on with the water and did not complain to the staff about this as I figured they probably don't have a way to remedy it.... But definitely DO NOT drink the water! It's probably safe, just very unsightly and they should fix and filter! I probably would not stay again, but if you're looking for a more inexpensive motel place, it's not terrible.

We stayed a few nights and this was a great, super affordable stop. The whole town is walkable from the inn. The owner's were lovely and having a complimentary happy hour glass of wine before dinner was a delight. Not to mention a great breakfast spread - waffles, cereals, breads and yogurts. The rooms, while older are clean and tidy. I'd absolutely stay again, and appreciated feeling more like I was staying at a friends.

We really enjoyed our stay here. We have a 90lb dog and they were able to accomdate us. Its an older building built in the 50s, so cosmetically there are a few updates that could be done but nothing that bothered us. The location is perfect right in town and you can walk to everything. They gave us a map during check in showing all the dog friendly places, but after calling around, in the winter there are zero places who allow dogs. All the dog friendly places are patio only during the summer and most patios close when its cold out. The rooms were cute with tall ceilings which was great. A little fridge, microwave, and small tv. The shower got super hot which was amazing. The bed was comfy with lots of blankets! The staff was super friendly. Sonia even sent me a text in the morning to let me know they had the hot breakfast out. From 430-630 they do free wine and cookies in the office area and they have tons of games! great little hang out/happy hour on cold nights. They had hot breakfast in the morning with waffles, breakfast burritos, muffins, Cereal, etc. They also have some little items for sale in the office for $1 if you get a sweet tooth at night which we did! I somehow managed to lose my key, and there is a $25 charge but they are going to wait a week to charge me because hopefully itll turn up! My only complaint really was the room was freeeeezing when we got there and it took hours to warm up. I had to put on layers and get in the bed lol. But once it got warm it stayed nice and warm! They do have a strict policy of no dogs being left in your room alone, so we werent able to do some things that we had planned but i knew that before coming. Next time we come ill probably take him to the doggie daycare in town so we can do the hot springs! If youre looking for a super fancy and bougie place, this isnt it. But I dont think any of Ouray is lol. Overall we really loved this place and definitely recommend it!

I like to walk to town and be in the heart of the Resteraunts, shops, theatre, and market, I spent a week at the Ouray Inn, a great mountain stay two blocks from Main Street. Three blocks from Box Canon. Or four from the hot springs pool and complex (including koi pond, park, and Information Building.) Included is a perfect breakfast and happy hour. Laundry, an upstairs deck, grills, ping pong, and mountains. I loved it.

Definitely not a 5 star hotel. This place is about 3 levels worse than an old Motel 6. Very old and rundown. Bedding was super old and covered in a thick layer of dust. Extremely overpriced for what you are getting.

We stayed at the St. Elmo in late July and booked "Suite 11 with mountain views." Instead, we got what felt like a basement: exposed pipes, cobwebs, dirty floors, broken glass, a rusty heater, flimsy cupboards, and a coat rack with no hangers. Nowhere close to the photos or views advertised. After asking to be moved, we stayed in two other rooms. Neither was a suite, and one was tiny with a broken shower. At over $400 a night, this was far from the romantic getaway we expected. Breakfast? Reheated eggs, and microwaved burritos. Definitely not worth the price (check other reviews if you don't believe me). After the stay, I politely reached out for a partial refund and was turned away. When I disputed the charge (first time here as well), I received a call 20 days later from their "director of operations," followed 8 minutes later by a threatening message from Clay (likely the new owner) pretending to be an attorney making wild threats and sending outrageous messages. Rude, unprofessional, and completely out of line. The only positives: Room 11 is no longer available to rent. the cleaning staff were very sweet. Cute property, but poorly run and not worth the price. Stay clear.

We were in town for an event that included dinner but we ended up bailing on that and based on the recommendation of the bartender at the Imogene Hotel we ended up here. They have a small dining room that apparently is almost always booked out so we ate at the bar. Really nothing negative to say. Service was prompt and friendly and we enjoyed our conversations with the hostess that seated us and our servers. They offer chef specials for a starter (salad) and for multiple entrees. They also offer a daily special cocktail. The food was solid and the presentations were really well done. I posted our salad courses to show how they handle it. The wife had the on menu ember roasted beet and apple salad. While the apples were scant the overall flavor was fantastic and the local goat cheese had tremendous punch. The salad was perfectly dressed with a lemon vinaigrette. I went with the off menu local tomato and cucumber salad which also included feta, dill, a red wine vinegar dressing and some zaatar seasoning. Again a solid dish, pretty to look at and great tasting. I went with chef special of venison stew. Again, perfectly cooked, the venison fork tender, the vegetables being cooked al dente and the broth being so good I wanted order a cup and just drink it up. We love bolognese and make it at home all the time. the on menu version used just lamb for the protein which (to us) was a bit unusual as you will usually see them with multiple meats. Suffice it to say, this did not need it. The flavor was out of this world fantastic, the rigatoni was cooked perfectly and the freshly grated parmesan was the perfect touch to enhance the overall flavor. Score this a solid 10 - when we return Ouary we will be back to eat here and may even try the hotel out.

We had a king accessible room so it was probably a little different from the regular rooms. It was spacious but one of the lights wasn't working so we had to drag a lamp over to the table area. There was a microwave and good size fridge and a small, pod coffee maker on the dresser. IMO the coffee was pretty good. Our couch also pulled out into a bed. They had coffee/tea in the lobby and passed out brown bag breakfasts in the morning. Our bathroom could have used some counter space but there wasn't any. The shower was tiny but did have a bench and grab bars. The whole thing was porta-potty sized and only had a hand held sprayer with very weak water pressure, but it was clean. They did provide bar soap and had shampoo and body wash dispensers in the shower. The whole room was pretty clean and almost bug free - which for Colorado mountain towns says a lot. It was showing some wear but it was nice to have the air conditioning unit even if it was noisy and didn't work very well. There was also a portable floor fan in the small closet along with a luggage stand and bench for the shower. If someone needs an accessible room this one was very complete. I chatted with John, the owner, a couple of times and he is very nice and pretty mellow. His daughter Laura is also very friendly and sweet. Really the biggest issue we had was lack of maid service. When I went to ask about clean towels, John told me to put our used ones on the chair outside our door. We did that the next day at 7am, got back to the room about 3:30pm and the used towels were gone but there were no new ones. I went to the lobby and got towels and when we left for dinner there was a stack of clean towels on the chair. No one ever emptied our trash or even checked the room the whole week. It wasn't that we needed much but the website and handout we received both stated they had daily maid service. For $250/night I would have expected better communication.
