WARNING DO NOT USE THIS PARTY SUPPLY COMPANY!!! If I could give them ZERO stars, I would. Unprofessional is truly an understatement! After being canceled on the day before my event by the party supply company I originally booked weeks in advance, I frantically called around in hopes of miraculously finding a company who could fulfill my last minute request. Several party supply companies told me they were booked. My event was taking place on a Saturday and the other party supply place cancelled on me Friday.
I called Tefy's with my request. Rather than telling me they were booked for the next day, Eric assured me they could meet my last minute request for 2 rectangle tables with tablecloths, 30 white chairs, and filling 30 of my PERSONAL balloons with helium and bringing them to the event when they dropped off my other items. Since Eric said they could fulfill my request, I drove to their store to drop off my balloons as well as a cash deposit for the half of the total. I requested the balloon strings to be white (the balloons were navy blue with the Penn State logo on them in white). The string color was indicated on my receipt along with the arrival time of 10-11AM on the day of my event. Eric told me the delivery driver would call me when he was 20-30 minutes away from delivering my order. There was no mention of any potential issues with fulfilling my order. In fact, he gladly took my cash deposit.
On the morning of the event, I was going to ask Tefy's if they could add another tablecloth to my order (that I would pay for of course). I called them at 9:06AM and 9:16AM but got no answer. That was a little surprising to me but I didn't worry about it. I just figured I would have to forgo the extra tablecloth; no big deal. I proceeded to begin setting up for my event and lost track of time honestly. The delivery of my order was supposed to take place between 10-11AM. I didn't receive a phone call until 11:03AM from Eric stating "the delivery guy hit traffic and was running late" for my delivery. I immediately asked how late the delivery guy was running but Eric couldn't tell me. Instead, he got rude and defensive in response to my inquiry. I informed him that my event was beginning at 12 noon and that I needed to know ASAP what time to expect the delivery guy. I also stated I would need a discount due to their extreme tardiness and failure to meet their end of the agreement. Eric stated his father, the owner, was the delivery guy and that I would have to speak with him about any discounts. Next, I asked Eric to find out his father's ETA as it was now very close to time for my event to start. After waiting nearly 30 minutes to hear back from Eric, I called back at 11:29AM for an update on the driver's ETA. I made him aware that this was a disaster as my event was scheduled to begin at 12 noon and we needed the items from their company. Eric had a very nonchalant attitude and could careless about the fact that they were so late. He said they were filling my balloons with helium (at 11:30AM when the driver was supposed to have arrived between 10-11AM). That's completely UNACCEPTABLE!!! They are located in Van Nuys. My event was held in Studio City.
After not hearing from them, I called back at 12:52PM. That's when I was told by Eric that the driver had to go get a different truck to "transport the balloons so they wouldn't pop." Their driver was supposed to make our delivery between 10-11AM. The event began at 12 noon. They knew on Friday that my order included balloons. So there is no excuse for not having the right truck initially! RIDICULOUS!!! At this point I was ready to cancel the order but they had my cash deposit and my own personal balloons they were supposed to inflate (for a fee).
I called back at 1:08PM and was told the driver was on his way (2-3 hours later than the time promised and written on my order). At 1:14PM, I receive a call from Eric claiming the delivery guy "got in an accident" and would not be able to make the delivery. So I asked Eric where the accident happened so I could send someone to pick up my balloons. He claimed the balloons were already back at their store. How could that be?! The timing doesn't add up. At any rate, I told Eric I needed my money back and the balloons.
I requested WHITE STRING for my balloons; it was clearly indicated on my order form. Since I was already hosting my event, I sent someone else to get the balloons and my cash deposit back. When that person arrived back at the event with the balloons, they were on LIME GREEN STRINGS!!! I was LIVID!!
There was no apology from Eric; no remorse at all. In fact, his excuse was "well you came in with a last minute order and we tried to fulfill it." That's unprofessional! He should have been honest on Friday and said they were booked for Saturday. That way I could've found another company to meet my request. Greed apparently got in the way of their integrity.
