An institution. Teddy's is as legit as it gets. Pepperoni, garlic, cooked well done is a damn near perfect pizza.

We drove out there to try Teddy's after reading great reviews via FB. My son loves. NY style pizza and we had just tried Andy's Pizza last week and thought we'd continue the hunt for good pizza. Well, despite the open sign on a Wednesday early afternoon and their website indicated it is open... we arrived just before 2pm. It was NOT open. We called again and again while standing outside looking in and not a single person was inside, just a TON of flies zooming around the insides of the window. Gross. Big disappointment. This was a special trip for mom/son lunch before he heads back to college. We had a nice lunch at Oyster Bar near by instead. The waitress there told us it is a normal occurrence with Teddy's as he is inconsistent. Oh my, I don't mind they chose to close whenever they choose since it is a mom/pop type place but maybe updating their website and leave a message on their phone would be helpful for their customers and not unreasonable to ask. After hearing so many positive things and reading the reviews on social media, as well as seeing Teddy's making the top 10 list in the Northern VA area I was finally able to give this small pizza joint in historic Middleburg a try on a weekday for lunch. Teddy is clearly passionate about the pies he makes and it's evident in watching and tasting his food. He's got the typical Italian "pizza joint" menu including pies subs, and other Italian entrée items. We opted for a white pizza, a cheese only pizza, and a pepperoni pizza and all three were INCREDIBLE!!! Easily the best pizza we've had in the area. The sauce was outstanding! The cheese was incredible!! The crust was perfect!!! But the way it all came together, the perfect amount of cook on the pizza and the flavors were OUTSTANDING! We got the cheese pizza. It was delicious. A large pizza was a great portion. The cheese and sauce were great. It was a true NY style. Take a bite and all the cheese comes off. We really enjoyed it. We also got the Philly cheesesteak super, also very good. A very large portion, and easily shareable. Great meat to topping ratio. Overall, a great spot in Middleburg. A few tables to sit and eat. Enter Teddy's Pizza and Subs located in Middleburg, Virginia. I was lucky enough to chance upon this on a Facebook group post, Northern Virgina Foodies, and the images were just mesmerizing. I had to visit here! As I entered the place, I am greeted with an amazing olfactory whiff of heavenly pizza smells among other yummy delectables. I'm also greeted by the owner, Teddy, as he banters with familiar customers and his staff. It was awesome ! I proceeded to order a slice of thin New York Brooklyn style cheese pizza and a small Sicilian pizza. OM-freakinzy-Goodness!!! The cheese slice was packed full of flavor! The tomato sauce is a perfect blend of savory, tangy, and a dash of sweetness. The cheese adds to the savory salty goodness. The bottom of the crust is perfectly crunchy and holds the pizza shape in all its glory. The Sicilian is absolute royalty! The slightly thicker crust absorbs the special tomato oregano sauce, making each bite a layer of happiness. The fresh cheese stretches with each pull as if reaching for your heart ! Amazing NY style pizza from a family owned little shop right off the Main Street in middleburg. The pizza had a great crust and you can tell the dough was fresh. The cheesesteak was average as the bread got soggy by the time I got home to eat. Overall the customer service was great and the owner has a great sense of humor. read more

Wow - The Northern Virginia Foodies page was right! This pizza is so very much like the fab NY pizza I have to travel up north to NYC to get. Light, airy with that great crispy crust that's the best. We ordered the meat lovers with extra Italian sausage and it was amazing. Seems Teddy is from Brooklyn and he knows his stuff. His wife, Susan, took my order over the phone and was so sweet. When I picked it up she gave me a roadie of a mozzarella stick just out of the oven as I told her I had to drive to Leesburg before we could dig into the pizza. It was soooo good. We are so incredibly fortunate to have a business like this within our tiny little community. I couldn't keep on two hands the number of New York and Brooklyn style pizza places I've seen in northern Virginia, but Teddys is the only one actually living up to that brand. There's two, maybe three guys that you will ALWAYS be dealing with here, and if charisma and charm were treated like toppings, they'd be able to charge a whole lot more. Doesn't matter who you are, they make it feel like you've been loyal customer for years on just your first visit. Anyway, about the actual pizza: Theres one thing that all these New York style pizza places get wrong, and that's the crust. In my humble opinion, a true New York pie shouldn't have the idea of doughiness anywhere near it. The slice should support itself, and the bottom should be crisp, but not that disgusting, powdery, bone dry crispness we see from boutique brick oven pizzas. I don't know how they do it, but every pie is truly a work of art (if you like good pizza) and they can get it to you, usually, pretty quick. The menu is simple, the kitchen and dining room are not any bigger than they need to be. The thing is, Teddy's could make the same amount of money making standard calibre, or even bad pizza, but they choose to do things the right way. I went on a motorcycle ride with a friend and ended up stopping at Teddy's Brooklyn Style Pizza because I had heard some great things, like the pizza is authentic NY pizza, and some not so good things- the hours are unpredictable. This was actually the second time I stopped there and the first time they were closed. We waited and nobody showed up...oh well, stuff happens. This time we found them open and as it turned out, I'm really happy they were. First off, if you read my reviews, you know I'm an Italian guy from NY and I pretty much have given up on pizza in VA because it just sucks. So I was anxious to see if Teddy's is the real deal. IT IS! One thing for sure is, Teddy and his brother are the real deal! I love these guys and Teddy's wife- great people who really care about what they're doing and the quality of the food they are putting out. To the people who are giving them one star because you showed up and they weren't open, how about actually calling and, here's a concept, ASK THEM what happened before bashing them online. Teddy and his family are from NY, and they immediately made me and my friend feel at home. I was immediately comfortable with my new friends, so I asked why they weren't open the last time we stopped. Teddy explained that he will not take shortcuts or put out food that isn't fresh and, due to COVID and supply chain issues, some of his fresh ingredients aren't showing up, so he can't open. He is at home when he gets a call telling him the truck isn't showing up so he doesn't go to work. Frankly, I'm not mad at that, sure it would be nice if he could remotely post a sign, but life is too short to get upset about this. Well, let's get to the pizza. We ordered a medium pizza, with the intention of eating two slices each and getting back on our bikes and heading home, where our wives would want to go to dinner shortly after. Well, the pizza came out, super fresh and hot- my half had sausage, my friend's had pepperoni, and we were both stuffing our faces so much we killed the whole pie in 10 minutes! Teddy wouldn't take our money until he got our opinion on the pizza and we were happy to pay the man his well earned money. Teddy is a throwback type of guy- he is passionate about his food and his business. I felt like I was standing in my hometown of NY when I was in his place, and even though Middleburg isn't exactly around the corner from me, I'm going to be a regular. I came here after reading about it in Facebook groups and heard several people declaring it the best pizza in NoVa. It's good although the best...I'm not sure. It's well above average at minimum with very good house-made crust and not-too-sweet sauce. Interior is quite spartan. Nowhere near the hype. If you're local, great. If not, don't make the drive. The pizza is fair. The 14" medium cheese arrived undercooked and soupy. However, the true colors of this place were revealed when I went up to pay for my meal. Paying with a credit card, I was rung up. I pointed out to the youngman behind the counter that the $16.95 that was appearing on the payment screen for a 14" medium cheese pizza was more than the $15.95 price that was on the menu board hanging above the counter. The owner then stepped in and I pointed out my concern. He said, "it's only a dollar more". I said, " Yes, but it's more than your advertised price." He then said some words to his employee, erased and re-entered the items. Again, the medium pizza was showing as $16.95 and I pointed that out. "Do you think I'm trying to rip you off?" The owner said. He then said it was showing as more because of the tax. I pointed out that tax is not added before the sub total. He didn't like that. I believe the information I was giving him was beyond his mental capacity to comprehend. I wanted to leave, so I was paying and he started walking away, mumbling and saying that he doesn't need this and something about customers giving him a hard time. I told him we didn't need to drive a 1/2 hour for this circus. He told me that my problem is that I'm rude. What?? Side note, my son told me that the customer who paid before me had raised concern about what he was being charged for his meatball sub and had words about that customer once he walked out of the shop. Never again. Check that your payment system is working properly or, yes, you are ripping your customers off. read more

I visited and brought friends since people said that it's the best pizza around. I know NY Pizza and it was not bad; however, the owner/cook may treat his regulars fine but he certainly was mouthy and unkind to our group which consisted of some very nice ladies. I was quite honestly horrified at the comments that were made towards our group. Please note that this is a local carryout in an old shack building on the backstreet of Middleburg. If you want to get Pizza from there, call in your order, pick it up and eat at home or your car. Hopefully, that will help you have minimal contact with the owner who has something to say about everything. I'll stick with Solo Pizza in Leesburg since they treat their customers with welcoming kindness and respect. read more

My wife and I came here on a day date where we were doing zip lining nearby. My wife's research indicated the pizza and Philly cheesesteaks were very good. When we arrived we noticed they had two small tables on the outside of the small restaurant. The inside dining area could seat about 12 people max and it looked almost at capacity. It seemed like a popular place. We decided to sit outside since it was a beautiful day and we don't like to be that close to strangers. We had our own soda bottles since we had been traveling to arrive at this destination. I ordered a slice of pepperoni and sausage pizza, my wife ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza and we ordered a Philly cheesesteak to share. The food was brought to our table outside. My wife was surprised by the shredded lettuce on the sandwich. All of the food was good but I definitely enjoyed the Philly cheesesteak more than the pizza. The pizza was New York style and was very good. We originally wanted 2 slices with 5 toppings on each slice but he asked us if we were sure since it was $1.75 (we can't seem to agree if this was the amount he said) per topping. We definitely backtracked when we heard that. The owners were entertaining to talk to and there was playful banter between us and them which made the experience that much more enjoyable.
