There is a reason I always go to the Apple Store... I needed to replace a cracked screen and went in here. They replaced the screen and it looked fine. But when I put on my sunglasses the next day, the screen was dark. (I'd worn my glasses with my previous screen and it was fine). I stopped by to see what was going on and they finally admitted they use a different kind of screen than the factory original. When I asked for 50% off to compensate for the fact that they didn't tell me this up front and that the screen isn't what I wanted, they offered to put my original screen back so I could bring it to the Apple Store--the cracked one--and give me my money back. I have a netbook that I could not get to work. It is an HP..I am using it now, enthusiastically! I even had a friend who works as an IT look at it, among several other computer stores. I could not connect to the wireless, but at times could connect through a hot spot. I was ready to give up. And this is not a cheap deal... My sister noticed the opening of a computer store on Broadway. I had given up. When I took it somewhere, it appeared to work...I felt like an idiot! I walked into the store, and a gentleman helped my right away. He troubled shooted ands diagnosed within 15 minutes!! He could have taken me..as I offered to leave my computer there while he works on it...He said, " I can fix this...u don't have to leave it." I am so happy with the service I received. Great honest guys. Helped me with a laptop that died and couldn't boot. Was willing to let me use his recovery discs for free if I sat there myself. Gave me a good discount off the price of saving off my data. Very understanding and helpful guys. Their full price for saving off data is pretty pricey, so you might try and negotiate. Two sides of that coin tho, it's not a lot of work for them to save off the data, but that data is super valuable to me. In the end, paid $153 for an os install and data save, which was worth every penny to me. Definitely recommend, would go back for sure. read more

I was on a trip to Costa Rica. I had a Canon camera and got a Memory Card error after taking hundreds of photos and videos. I thought all my pictures had been lost. I tried to support the local business, but it was a failure. Asked if they replaced iPad batteries via email. Was told yes, so I went on down. They scratched and chipped the edge of the glass and couldn't get their new battery to work. They offered to try another one, but with the damage done already, I didn't trust them. No appreciation for customers! I went to bring 2 cracked iPads for repair, willing to give this new store a try. The store was empty, so empty I had to call for someone several times. When I finally got to speak to someone, I was told I had to wait 10 minutes to drop off the iPads. Waiting for what? I was the first/only person in the store. The drop off process itself shouldn't have taken more than a minute given the obvious problems to fix (unless this store plans on asking as many questions as in a job interview!). Apparently there are higher priorities for this store than take care of customers who want to give them business. Sorry, but if i have to wait 10 minutes, I might as well drive to one of the other established apple repair stores around and know I will be taken care of reliably. Horrible customer service. I will not be back. I came here to have an iPhone screen replaced. The guy needed a lot of personal information for a quick screen replacement. He asked for a contact number - this made sense. Then he asked for my email...I wasn't sure why he needed that, so I said I'd prefer to not give that out. He said he needed two ways to contact me so I said "fine" and gave him another phone number. He then said he needed my billing address. So is this a third way to contact me? At this point, I wasn't feeling very comfortable. Besides, it's 2015, no one gives that out. He was very sharp with me when I said I'd prefer to not give that (especially since this wasn't my phone and I was doing this for someone else). He didn't give a reason for it other than he "just needed it and that's how they do business with all their customers". I then said, "oh ok, well this person I'm bringing the phone in for has been here before so let's use their info." Apparently, my friend wasn't in the system and it appeared that this was not standard practice. The guy made such a big deal out of sharing my info and it was incredibly annoying. Finally, 15-20mins in, he skips the address and says the phone will be ready in an hour and to just come back...he doesn't call to let you know when it's done. So WTF was the point of giving all that info?!? Waste of time and this guy probably sells your personal info. I'd rather buy a new phone than take it here to get replaced. --- Reply to Ahmet below: I've never had a bad experience with another vendor, definitely not like this. I brought it my non-functioning iPhone 5 yesterday and left it with Omar and had a great experience. First, I previously went to the apple store and the only option they gave me was to replace it. So I thought I would give Omar at techworld a shot. I dropped it off and a few hours later called back and was told the cable attached to the screen had broken and that he had replaced it. Great to have same day responsive service. It was $100 to get the screen replaced which is a pricey repair but better than having to buy a new phone. I have walked by this shop many times on the way to Cheeky Monkey with my kids and always contemplated if I should bring one of my MacBooks Pros here for battery replacement; instead of to Apple store. I decided to try this service and what a BIG MISTAKE. The guy in the store, the owner, seems nice but apparently not much of a business man. After my battery was replaced, pretty straight forward procedure, my daughter turned on here Skype and instead of the clear sound we were used to coming out of the speakers, a cracking sound was coming out of the left speaker. And yes, we ruled out the software as the cause. It is hardware related. Both speaker assemblies (left and right) are slightly over the battery. So when the battery is taken out, you are supposed to remove the speakers first. I checked the iFixit guide. But that was not done according to the shop tech (the owner). The SPEAKER GOT DAMAGED and now I have a good battery but defective speaker. When I presented the situation to the Techloop owner, he refused to admit any mistake and would not fix or replace the speaker free of charge. When I said I would pay for the speaker (around $60) if he did the repair for free, he also refused. I am very unhappy to say the least. I have couple of other Apple products I was going to have serviced here. But you wont see me near this store again. Please if you want to get a reliable service on any apple products, don't make the same mistake as I did and TAKE IT TO THE APPLE STORE. read more

The staff was very professional. It may seem silly but my phone is a very personal and valuable item to me. When they checked out my phone they let me know exactly what they were doing and why. I was also worried i was going to be sold items i didn't need. That was not the case at TechLoop. I am impressed by their practical diagnoses and level headed solutions, e.g. I have older laptops and when the integrated video card went bad, they suggested it wasn't worth the cost of repairing, compared to purchasing new (they were right). With software issues they are also great working to solve the problems that teens wreak on computers. One downside is their shop is not highly visible, kind of hidden actually and the shop has the feel of a garage / repair shop ... which I suppose is what it is. Got water in my iPhone and brought it to these guys because they were the only ones open on a Sunday. Glad I did..they did a really nice job..I did quite a number on that phone and was pretty sure I was heading to Apple to buy a new one. They replaced the camera, battery, a few other parts (they showed me..the inside of the phone was all wet), did it in a few hours, and charged me $100. They even stayed open 5-10 minutes late (on a Sunday) so I could pick up the phone. I really can't think of what else they could have done to earn this review.
