A few months ago I hired another service to do a deep clean with the intent of making it a more regular thing if I liked the work. But they were dismal! I ended up spending a few hours cleaning after the two guys they sent out missed a bunch of stuff that was promised. The products they used smelled so strong and lingered for days, giving me a headache for a week afterwards. It was my first time ever hiring a cleaner, though, so I thought maybe my expectations were just too high, culminating in a pretty disappointing and discouraging experience. Absolutely Clean was my second attempt at finding a service and the difference between them and the previous company was night and day. I had booked just a general cleaning this time, and Aksana did a better job than the "deep cleaning" the other company provided at 1/4 the price and 1/2 the man-power! She was extremely thorough and meticulous, cleaning things and areas I hadn't even expected her to. She even got stains off my oven that I had long given up on. She was very sweet and professional as well. The products she used did not smell bad and the scent was mostly gone by the end of the day. So I requested a deep cleaning to get these surfaces clean, along with the usual cleaning. Ellen , the owner and I agreed upon a VERY reasonable price. Initially one person was sent out, but when I realized that she could only spend 4 hours, I also started cleaning. Within the hour, the owner showed up. Unfortunately, I felt compelled to deduct two stars for a couple of reasons. First, the team did not clean what they considered "cluttered" areas. In practice, this meant that surfaces such as my bathroom counter and office desk were skipped entirely. I understand not moving or organizing personal belongings, but there were crumbs and visible spots that we had to clean ourselves before guests arrived the following day. Additionally, things like trash bins and appliances were left out of place, as if the team left in a hurry. Ultimately, I did not feel I received the full value of the service. Second, while avoiding those "cluttered" surfaces, the team nevertheless moved several art prints and canvases that I had set aside for framing. They placed a heavy plastic office chair mat directly on top of them, leaving several pieces crumpled. Fortunately, I was able to flatten most of the wrinkles, but I was surprised by the lack of care shown toward personal items. To the company's credit, Ellen promptly offered a discount on a future cleaning with a different team, which I genuinely appreciated. Ellen also offered to have a team return and address the remaining areas, but we had already taken care of it ourselves. Given this experience, I don't think we'll be using the company again, sadly.

It was not just a one-off moment either--it reflected a pattern of behavior that suggests a toxic leadership culture at the top. If the CFO is any indication of how this organization treats people--whether clients, partners, or employees--I'd recommend looking elsewhere. Rachel is incredibly kind, friendly, and an absolute powerhouse when it comes to cleaning. It was such a relief walking into such a fresh, tidy space. That being said, there were a few small things that could be improved. For whatever reason, I felt like she was very rushed. The trash was left right outside the apartment without a new bag in the bin, and the dishwasher wasn't started -- small touches I've had with other cleaners in the past that make a nice difference.
