We scheduled a move in deep clean for 3 hours in our 850sqft apt. It was far from a deep clean. They ended up changing it to two people for 1.5 hours. The cabinets still had residue on them despite me asking for it to be a focus area... and they didn't even get to dusting / glass cleaning the 2 bedrooms. I am pregnant, in my third trimester, and really needed some help around the house. I booked a deep cleaning with Ellen more than two weeks in advance. We confirmed the date and time twice. On the day of the cleaning, I waited for 2.5 hours. They never showed up and Ellen did not communicate or offer to reschedule. (Full story) They were to arrive at noon. When they ran 30 minutes late, I messaged Ellen and was informed that they were running late because she thought our cleaning was at 1:30pm. We confirmed the time twice, so I don't see how that confusion was possible. I was understanding because sometimes jobs just take longer. She asked that I wait for them to come at 1:45 pm and I agreed. At 2:30 pm they still have not arrived and Ellen did not bother to communicate or apologize. I am a Yacht and Ship Broker (42 years) here in San Diego. I called Ellen to possible clean a clents yacht over in Mission Bay. We agreed on a reasonable price, after her inspection, to clean the inside of the boat and the bridge, both needed this service badly. After she completed the cleaning, i inspected the job, with the owner present. The owner was very please, actually he commented enthusiastically, about the inside of the drawers, the inside of the frig, the inside of the lockers, the decks , carpet and cabinets and finally the shine at the Bridge. I just smiled He thanked me for doing such a great job, i simply remarked, Not me, Ellen did the great Job. I hired her to clean a late model cruiser. She made it shine inside. Short: This was the worst cleaning company we've ever hired. They did a terrible cleaning job and the owner Ellen was a nightmare to interact with. Long: We requested the $350 move-in deep cleaning which involved a checklist of everything they would do. Two cleaners came to our house for 3 hours to "clean". Their cleaning process was basically wiping a few things down with paper towels. They did not deep clean. Here were some of the biggest gripes: Floors - bottoms of our feet were black after less than an hour of walking around on the floors they had "cleaned". They also bucket mopped our hardwood floor and got it soaking wet which can damage it. A professional cleaner would know not to do this. Cabinets: They did not clean the cabinets which is on their checklist. They briefly vaccumed the inside of some of the cabinets when they were running out of time. However they were still full of crumbs and spills which took us a few hours to clean out ourselves. The bathroom medicine cabinets still had rings on the cabinet shelves from previous occupants' toiletries and the top of them was covered in a thick film of dust. Surface details: They didn't do more than one pass on surfaces that needed deeper cleaning. Some surfaces they skipped altogether. If there was any kind of mess that needed to be scrubbed off like crusted on food etc they left it intact. Many surfaces still had a thick black film of dust - all the window sills were still covered in thick filth, tops of things like the microwave and fridge untouched, bedroom closets/shelves still dusty. Some items on their checklist, like bleaching the dishwasher, they did not even attempt to do. I don't believe they cleaned the toilets as there was still blue residue from when the sellers put a cleaning pack in the toilet a few days prior. Mirrors / steel appliances - they didnt have the tools to clean these. They used paper towels and smeared grime around on these surfaces. General efficiency: one of the cleaners was on her phone for around half of the time I was observing her. As you can see they left our house a mess, and these are just the major complaints. Walking around the home after their cleaning I had a hard time pinpointing what they had accomplished. As bad of a cleaning job as they did, speaking with the owner Ellen was even worse. She argued in circles about why the team did not do a good job and tried to blame it on us in any way she could think of. I will not bore you with the nitty-gritty of our conversation but suffice to say we found the communication before, during, and after the cleaning very poor. The conversation with Ellen became so illogical that we gave up reasoning with her and decided to post this review instead. Edited to add: The response of the owner below contains various lies and bad excuses for why they did not do a good job. They hadn't told us they would stay until the job was done; in fact the cleaners told us several times they had a car coming to pick them up at 6. Once we complained the next day, Ellen asserted that it's our fault for letting them leave because they would have stayed til the job was done. We did NOT tell the cleaners we were happy with the job, as we discussed several times Ellen. So stop saying that. The lighting excuse is a twist of some words my husband said to her, and she knows that. The job was done in broad daylight. She is complaining about the pics we provided to show they did a bad job - we provided her with the pics I included in this review and more plus a detailed written list of what they missed. I didn't send her pics of furniture... laughably bad lie because we hadn't even moved our stuff in yet. As far as a walkthrough video, I didn't see them take one before or after, but I don't see what it has to do with the specific evidence we have provided. If the photos I provided look unclear to your staff, it's because they never touched those areas lol and that's the point. Yes they did offer to come back the next evening, but we had already spent more than 5 hours cleaning at that point and were almost done. Besides - after they did such a horrible job, why would we want them to come back and waste our time again? They clearly do not know what clean is. We've already discussed these points and more with Ellen and she persists in holding her inaccurate viewpoints even though she was not there. We had a deep cleaning service however it was extremely lacking. We were quoted 140 for our service and then questioned why our home was not well deep cleaned. Dust under the side tables and our bedroom side tables still messy I had to use wood cleaner on all our surfaces after. It honestly seems like there wasn't any deep cleaning or deep cleaners used. The owner stated 140 for a deep clean actually should have been 250 because we have a cat. We have a small one bedroom that was already very clean to start. Very disappointed with the service. I could have cleaned my own home better. Also the brush they used on the blinds damaged the blinds as well as our ceiling fan was loose & tilted from the cleaning. I recently took over a lease of a friend and moved into a 2 bed/2 bath condo that had not been cleaned professionally since moving in 8 years ago. Booked them after only reading Yelp reviews, they responded the same day I contacted them. Two ladies came to clean the apt and definitely did everything listed under the deep clean section of the website. 4 stars instead of 5 because they misquoted the time it would take, they said it would be done in around 2 hours and it took them closer to 4 hours. Also, based on Yelp reviews, I assumed Ellen would be coming, but it was two members of her team, would have liked to know the names of the ladies who were coming beforehand! If you're looking for a deep clean, the kind the really resets your home, look elsewhere. I just moved into a 2 bedroom apartment and wanted only my kitchen and bathrooms deep cleaned, nothing else. That did not happen. I gave the owner clear instructions on what I wanted done all of which did not happen. I don't blame the woman that was sent out to clean, my understanding is that she was not given clear instructions on what I needed done and I was under the assumption that she was. I did not want to hover while she was working because I understand that can be uncomfortable. When I saw the finished kitchen, I was very underwhelmed. She finished very quickly so I knew it wouldn't be great. But the only way I can describe it was something I would do in between deep cleans on a busy week night. She did a poor job and did not clean the oven. Nothing looked or felt or smelt clean. And I had emptied all the cabinets and countertops prior to her arrival hoping this would make it easier for her to get a good clean in. It looked just as i'd left it. Normally I let these things go because I empathize for service workers but this bothered me because I gave clear instructions on what I needed done and the stress of moving with young kids was why I hired this cleaning service. She cleaned one bathroom and packed up her stuff even though I made it clear to the owner that there were 2 bathrooms. I let her go because I wasn't satisfied with the quality of work being done and I didn't think it was necessary for her to stay and work on the second bathroom. Another issue was that because this was supposed to be a deep clean, I was expecting the floors to be swept and mopped. That also did not happen. I was also told that 2 cleaners would be sent out, but there was only one. When I asked the owner about this, she said one had called out in the morning, okay fair enough. It's very clear that there was a miscommunication between the owner and employee on what needed to be done. But what bothered me the most about this is that even though nothing was done the way it was supposed to, the owner refused to adjust her rate appropriately. This is wrong, if you're not able to follow through on what was supposed to be done then the least you can do is adjust the rate to what was done. Lucky for me I was able to hire another cleaning service on the recommendation of a friend and they came out and did a great job. I don't normally write reviews and I try to uplift businesses but the way this business owner conducted herself and her business bothered me. I only made this review because it looks like there are a lot of reviews and I'm not sure if they are posted by the owner or not but they did not look like the service I received. I would feel bad if someone else has a similar experience. To the owner, please work on your business and try to actually fulfill the expectations of your clients. And to any one looking to book with them unless you're looking for a very basic reset, look elsewhere. I felt very deceived. read more
