We…read morehad a contractor who came out & had told us that several adjustments would need to be made to install it, due to our garage door opener, which is on the wall, not overhead. We wanted another quote, so we contracted Kevin Dailey. During the time that he was there, we mentioned what the contractor had said, & he indicated that that man had no clue. That he himself is the face the manufacturer sends as THE man to install their product. He is the expert. He gave us a quote. He admitted that he had never installed a garage door screen with the type of opener we had. Since we pointed out what the contractor said we did not have enough clearance, one would think that the resident expert would have measured. Kevin & his son arrive to install the door on a Friday. They are unable to complete the job, because the screen frame was hitting the garage door. On Saturday, Kevin sends his son to work by himself. He installed the mesh on the screen with ripples diagonally across one side & cuts on the other side. Not to mention, the screen cannot be lowered fully to use. We contacted Kevin, who said he would send a friend in the business who could make our garage door go further back so it might work. He adjusted it as far as he could. The guy did what he could but says the screen will not be able to close. Kevin contacted Chamberlain to get their advice. They walked him through it & customer service said that it won't go up further, so it wouldn't work. We told Kevin that we just wanted it removed. He tells us that he is already out $300 for the new mesh...like the reason it was messed up was our fault, not his. He tells us that he would contact the company and have a rep come. That rep said that we could get another type of garage door opener so the screen would work. We just had the top-of-the-line opener installed and we have no intention of replacing our opener. When the garage door is open, there is 94 and 1/2" clearance. The manual states that you need 96 and 1/2" clearance. After several attempts to fix this made by Kevin, with no one saying that the screen could ever be used. The screen is the size of the garage. The screen is supposed to close, so that you can use it. Please read below the response we were sent when we reached out to ask for it to be removed & our money refunded. It kills me that he says it just needs to be the same size, not that it needs to be able to be closed or used..... "I want to clarify the situation with the screen & garage door issues. When we initially installed the screen, it was properly measured to fit the opening of the garage. It is important to note that we did not check the garage door travel, as we had never encountered issues with garage doors not being able to travel up an additional 2 inches." "Our responsibility was to measure the opening of the garage and ensure the screen would fit in the opening, which was completed per the agreement. In terms of the screen itself, the only issue mentioned was with the mesh, which was not installed to satisfaction. While the door itself has no functional issues, I agreed to replace the mesh to address your concerns. I even spent additional money to purchase new screen material & agreed to install it, which technically is all I should have been doing." "To address the garage door issue, we even paid multiple garage door specialists to attempt to adjust the travel, raise it & repair tension issues (Kevin had caused) withing the garage door. These efforts went beyond our original scope of work & were made in good faith to assist with resolving the situation." "We value you as a customer & truly appreciate the opportunity to work with you. It's unfortunate that these kinds of issues arise, as most installers do not encounter them." He offered to install new mesh, but says CA law says once installation is completed, you don't have to refund money. So, we have a screen we cannot use, but Kevin Dailey did install it. That is the quality of customer service, & the job Kevin delivers. Blame the customer & never take responsibility for not measuring the clearance, since he admits he had NEVER installed a screen door with the opener we had, when he BID the job. He also said if I slander him on Yelp, he will go after me in court. I used his words here that he texted us. You decide.

Worst business practice I have ever encountered. Kevin is happy that the screen measures the…read moreopening of the garage door. You cannot close the door, but he considers it is installed & the right size. Completely inoperative, but if the quality of his workmanship, he's your guy. I wouldn't recommend his business to anyone. He left all packaging. Every other contractor weave ever had cleaned up. This guy won't even replace the screen his son ruined, so if it ever closes, it will not keep out the bugs due to the holes in the screen he installed will not be stopped. Glad we paid extra for that feature. He doesn't care about the end result, as long as he says it's installed you are screwed. Even admitted that he didn't measure, even when it didn't have the clearance, he blames us. He should never taken the job, as he is clueless and has no integrity in business practices. He threatened to sue us if anything isn't accurate. Go ahead buddy, let's see what the BBB and state contractors say. Take me to small claims court. I freaking dare you to!
