I was surprised by the mob of people waiting for the gates to open before the show. I guess I just never realized that this show was so popular. But, now that I've experienced it, I can see why.
It's a ton of fun, for people of every age. The athleticism of the performers is astounding, and the fact that they're doing things on the open water is impressive. It's not as polished as the Cirque du Soleil shows we've seen in the past, but for an amusement park venue, it's still phenomenal.
Once the show started, the performers had the audience in the palms of their hands. They were expert at eliciting laughs, gasps and applause, and it was all very well deserved. The jumping, tumbling and diving was impressive, and the jesters kept us wondering what the poor "rube" from the audience would be put through next. (He was a plant - no random audience member would be that game for those hijinks.)
The overall effect of the music, the physicality (check out the pictures of the couple dangling from a rope and each other, over the water for several minutes) and the artistry make for an excellent diversion while at the park.
You're in the sun on metal bleachers, but we had a good breeze coming in off the bay. The stadium filled up quickly, but we certainly weren't squeezed in. I think I enjoyed listening to people laugh and exclaim almost as much as I enjoyed watching the actors do their thing. It definitely is worth the stop, as much for the live performance as for the chance to sit down. ;)
