Summer heat can be so exhausting but on the upside it's a great excuse to indulge in delicious cool treats!  From its humble beginnings as a bubble tea food truck, Teapressu went on to open a store where they sell their refreshing bubble tea drinks, and now ice cream as well. The interior of their store is quite whimsical, with all the sloth themed decor. Plus, they even have a claw machine that you can play. It's such a fun place! Their ice cream is freshly churned and you can see it churning continuously throughout the day. It's mesmerizing and I could stand at the counter for quite some time, watching the ice cream churn if it weren't for other people coming into the store, wanting to place their orders! The ice cream flavors they have number less than 10, but they are all wonderful flavors and we were impressed with the quality of the flavors that we tried. The flavors they had when we went were as follows: Rich Black Sesame, 2 Shots Espresso, Premium Earl Grey, Supreme Oolong, Uji Matcha, Creamy Mango with bits, Hokkaido "Milk", abd Very Strawberry. We ordered Premium Earl Grey and Uji Matcha ice cream, along with their Golden Peach drink. Yum, yum, and yum! While I love a tasty drink I think my love for ice cream is greater, and the ice cream we had at Teapressu was exquisite. The Uji Matcha flavor was very pronounced and while Earl Grey is a flavor that tends to be very much absent in a lot of desserts I've tried, I could actually taste the Earl Grey flavor this time in their Premium Earl Grey ice cream. This spot was our go-to bubble tea place when my girlfriend used to live nearby. Ever since we found out how affordable their drinks were, we couldn't stop coming back!  Before what is now called Slothful, this place was always known as Teaspressu. Ran by a wholesome couple and their child, many people who came by would take pictures and post them long before social media became the norm. Then the pictures would be displayed on the wall, which was very community-friendly! Now that they have merged with Slothful, the price and service have remained the same, still with the same wholesomeness, just with a new look.  They even offer hand-made ice cream now! It sure did add to the Bingsoo they were known for. We were truly blown away by their bingsoos, as they were smaller than regular and affordable. Instead of spending $15+ for a bowl of bingsoo that you'd fill your stomach with, you can spend less and just have them as a snack!  After expanding their store with brand new renovations, they now look fresh and perfect for young people to hang out with. Drinks are good and they're reasonably priced, I suggest the light cheese chili topping here because it's really chewy and not like other lychee jelly at other bbt shops. Their real winner though is the ice cream/soft serve. All the ice cream options are so creamy and they're so so good. Definitely check it out! read more

Saw this cute shop on the way to pick up Marutama the other day and we just had to stop by to get our bubble tea fill! (there were other Marutama patrons there who probably had the same idea) They have a quite extensive menu and the inside is very clean. The man who took our order was very energetic and sweet, and they also have a video on how they make their drinks to watch while you're waiting. We ended up getting an original snowy and a chocolate snowy (a fairly new but popular menu item) both with pearls, as well as a hokkaido milk ice cream and a matcha ice cream. They also ask you if you want pearls in your ice cream. I didn't realize it would be added at no extra cost so I declined, but will definitely get them next time. The ice cream came in these really cute cups that you can take with you which I decided to reuse (hey, they're pretty good quality!) and the flavours themselves were great. The hokkaido milk is definitely on the sweeter side but really unique, while the matcha was not very sweet and had a strong tea flavour. They're also pretty inexpensive at $3 compared to other places (plus you get a free cup!). The snowies were delicious as well and the pearls perfectly chewy. The shaved ice on top takes up around 1/4 to 1/3 of the top of the drink so it will reduce in size when it melts. Just something to keep in mind if you're wanting to drink a lot. One thing I would recommend though would be to not get both an ice cream and a snowy on the same trip, our snowies ended up melting a lot on the drive home. We had the Earl Grey gelato and the Oolong gelato. The gelato were fine but the Old Ginger tea only had the spicy ginger at the bottom of the drink. The drink itself was diluted and did not taste of ginger. I expected the drink to taste stronger because it was 'Old Ginger.' The pineapple jellies at the bottom were fine. The attitude of the staff was subpar. When I asked for the soft serve ice-cream, the female server seemed irritated. Then she threw the straw over the counter which dropped onto the floor when she put the drink on the counter. We asked another female server about the soft serve ice-cream and she seemed annoyed to answer as well. Were they not welcoming people to have soft serve ice-cream? Also, they should put the napkins on the counter and not at the back where the t-shirts for sale were because no one would expect them to be there. P.S. There was a kid working and the server berated him and this made them look unprofessional. read more

Teapressu has quickly become one of my favourite bubble tea shop around. Not only are the prices cheap but they have a HUGE variety of teas to choose from. The cafe is located along Kingsway and has a couple benches inside but unfortunately not enough to really to dine-in at. They do however have a few patio tables outside you could sit at if you need a place to sit. While Teapressu has a large menu of items, they still have some items that are unlisted or changed seasonally. For example, I got their peach oolong once but the next time I visited, it was no longer available! Which was unfortunate for me because I loved that tea! Taiwan milk tea This is one of their number 1 drinks and for good reason. There's a rich caramel flavour to it with enough earthiness in the background for you to still detect the flavour of the tea. Their pearls are also chewy but can be hit or miss because sometimes they aren't as good. I have had a few other teas from them which are pretty good and I have yet to be disappointed with those options. This is one of my FAVOURITE items here! They have $3 ice cream with a free topping of choice! You have hojicha, matcha or twist to choose from. I usually get twist so it's the best of both worlds! Yum. read more

This is used to be a food truck and one of the more consistently made bubble tea shops in town, with its widely regarded rich tea flavours and slightly smaller but skillfully prepared pearls. I always have a hard time finding them so I am glad they are opening a permanent location now. They have this milk tea inspired soft serve with pearls for only $3 and it comes with a take away tall parfait style cup. While this soft serve did not have the strongest characteristics of roasty flavour profile but it was still very tasty. Despite my doubt, the very cold ice cream did not ruin the texture of the smaller pearls. Give them a try! read more

I was so excited to hear about their store opening in Burnaby. We usually grab the Brotherhood bubble tea from the food truck in Vancouver. The prices are great (all drinks under $4.50) and they taste tea-rrific ! We tried the Pearl Milk Tea soft serve twist. It was a smaller size but had a good tea taste The Fresh Taro milk lattea was a blend of fresh Taro and milk. I opt for the white agar pearls for 0.70 more. I wish the Taro was blended more smoothly. With the weather warming up, this is the perfect drink and why should I choose whether I should get bubble tea or shaved ice when I can get both! Teapressu drinks are also cheaper than average. We got the taro flavour and it was pretty good and definitely enough to share between two people. Dropped by next door after grabbing lunch to satisfy our sweet tooth. The photos of the soft serve looked good, so I ordered two matcha twist cones with pearls. Our order took a while even though we were the only ones in the store. It's no big deal but after a while we were wondering what was going on back there. Our cones came out from the back with another employee and they're not what we ordered. I asked to verify if these were the matcha twist cones. The employee answered that they ran out of that flavor and that these are were what we have left while pointing to the sign. I tell her "How come I wasn't told that when placing my order?" She replies with the same response, not answering my question. A little frustrated I say that's fine and take the order and leave. Besides for the service it wouldn't be as bad if the product was good. The icecream itself was kind of mediocre. It was melting so quickly as we left so we couldn't even enjoy it. Flavor wasn't that good and it was really watered down. Melted even quicker than McDonald's icecream, I got a few drops on my shirt :( my companion threw hers away because it was melting so quickly and wasn't that good, I ate mine because I paid for it.. but a waste of money and calories tbh. Besides not returning, this experience has made me decide not to tip at places where you pay before receiving your order. Will tip in cash afterwards instead. read more

It's not bad milk tea once they actually get around to making them. The speed of service is ridiculously slow. We've seen 3 people in the truck, with about 5-6 orders ahead of us yet we still waited about 15-20 minutes. I like the milk tea with grass jelly. I've also had the taro slush, which wasn't bad. They use fresh, real taro which is nice. I also tried the pearls twice and unfortunately, I do not enjoy their pearls. They are really small and did not give you much to chew on. Just my preference. Price point is OK. Averages $5/drink. I wouldn't risk ordering anything from them on a 5-minute coffee break. read more

Just found out about this BBT truck recently. It's on the corner of W Broadway and Willow on Tuesdays so it's closeby for people who work around the area. They have a good selection of different kinds of teas on the menu. The "Brotherhood Milk Tea" ($4.80) sounded interesting so I ordered that. It was Earl Grey tea and it had 3 toppings included already: pearls, grass jelly, and pudding. It was so much fun to eat! The toppings were great and the drink itself was pretty good. It was a bit on the sweet side but not enough to really bother me. For under $5, I think this is a great option to get lots of toppings. I'd definitely order the Brotherhood Milk Tea again! Love this boba place on wheels! I never really noticed until the last few months. Now I go every week! They are outside my work at broadway and willow on Tuesday from 9:30-3. Every drink I've had had been delicious too. Price point is pretty decent too. About $5 for most drinks. I've read the other reviews about the pearls being too small. I kind of like them that way, nice and chewy and not mushy. They are nice and fast too. The longest I've had to wait is 5 minutes with a few people ahead of me. I found this food truck parked on Broadway on the way to my physio and Michael's on Broadway. They had me at bubble tea. I got a cold basic milk bubble tea coffee flavored. They have some snacks, however, the jewel is the bubble tea to order. The line up was busy since it was one of the hot days this season, however, well worth the wait. The prices are comparative to actual store front bubble tea, however, just tastes better knowing that it comes from a truck. They use coconut milk so vegans can rejoice. This place was good. I came here often on Fridays with some coworkers and order pretty much the same drink every time. There were occasions where it wasn't made right, either too much ice or it was bland, but this last experience topped it all. Ordered the grass jelly milk tea with extra grass jelly. I've order this before at others, so please don't try and tell me that ordering too much grass jelly will make the drink bitter and stronger. Yes grass jelly has a herbal taste BUT it should never taste smokey or 'rusty' even if you add extra. I even had a my coworker/friend taste it for me to make sure it wasn't just me, and sure enough she said it tasted off. I went to bring it back and they said nothing had changed in the making/process of it. Clearly SOMETHING was different! Kindly enough they changed it and reduced the grass jelly thinking that would change it. The new one still tasted off! At that moment, there was no point going back and forth but obviously consistency was an issue. They offered fruit drinks instead but I am just turned off at this point. Coming there almost every Friday for a year or more now has now changed for me as I can never be sure what my drink will taste like. My other coworker ordered his regular dark sugar milk tea with pearls (no grass jelly) and said his tasted different too. He wondered if the machines were cleaned out daily since his milk tea tasted off. He didn't bother to return it but has said he won't be ordering the milk tea there again either. Saw this bubble tea the other day near Vancouver General Hospital on West Broadway and decided to check it out. I ordered a Choco Cinno with grass jelly, and my friend ordered the Black Sugar Iron with pearls. Both drinks were customizable in terms of ice and sweetness. The grass jelly was good and so were the pearls. The salty cream on the cinno was very good. Service was prompt. The menu offered a larger than average variety of milk teas and fruit teas with a large range of possible toppings. However they do not have milk alternatives. read more

My friend introduced me to Teapressu and oh wow, I'm impressed with the quality! The owner is extremely friendly and explained that my taro latte is made from scratch with real taro, which he cooked and boiled himself. He doesn't use artificial flavors in any of his drinks. In 2017, this is unheard of! My friend had one of their iced milk teas, which I also tried. It was done very well, strong flavor and very milky. Both drinks were less than $5 each. Awesome bubble tea that is made from real fresh brewed tea (thus the long wait times). It's much less sweet than regular bbt which is great. My favourite flavour so far is the Oolong with homemade grass jelly. The pearls are a bit small for my liking.
