I saw a vehicle I was interested in online. Despite only having photos of the exterior posted and being ~45 min from the dealer, I still reached out for a test drive. When I first arrived, I was shocked to see the windshield had a substantial crack, the steering wheel was incredibly worn down and beat up, and the interior smelled like they were covering up pet or smoke odor. None of this damage was listed online. When they presented the price breakdown, the vehicle was quoted $500 more than the online price and their dealer add-ons (including $900 "reconditioning fee") added another ~$1,300 to the price tag. If I had known the online price would be $1,800 more before doc fees/taxes/titling, I would have never bothered. To add insult to injury, they appraised my trade-in at less than half of the estimated Kelley Blue Book trade-in value at the worst possible condition using the only the base model; they did not account for the OEM package add-ons we had. When I asked about it, they mentioned they have no control because it's based solely on VIN. Needless to say, it was easy to walk from this dealership. My recommendation - avoid this dealership and any dealer that passes "dealer add-ons" to you. If there's more than just vehicle price, doc fee, tax, and title - walk away.

I have leased 5 other vehicles from various brands(1 Lincoln, 2 GMCs, and 2 Buicks) and this was the first time I ever loved something so much I wanted to purchase it. The saleswoman advised me that purchasing a new Crosstrek would be a lower interest rate and a better deal. This is the end of December 2025 and it was a 2025 model, the same color but a trim inferior to my 2023. I asked if there were any other options or if I could at least get a different color. The answer was 'no, this is it'. She continued to reassure me buying the 2025 was the better choice and reluctantly that's what I went with. I was frustrated as I had to settle for a lot less features and my payment and insurance went up by over $100 per month. I hoped I would feel better about it but I did not. The car had 19 miles on it at time of purchase. The ride was rough when I hit bumps from the time of purchase and I noticed a rattle coming from the rear when I hit bumps which started to get louder so I called service and had to bring it in for assessment. A few suspension parts in the rear needed to be replaced so I had to wait for them to be ordered. When I came to my appointment I waited an hour and a half only for them to come out and tell me they didn't have enough time to fix the car and I would have to make an appointment to come back next week. This was the tipping point for me because not only am I paying more for less, it's a car I didn't want and there's ALREADY something wrong with it before I even put a plate on the car or made my first payment. I had my 2023 Crosstrek for 3 years without a single issue, not even so much as a flat tire. I immediately called and spoke to a manager and told them my situation and they made an appointment for the following week. When I returned for the repair the next week I met with the sales manager to discuss my options. I told them my issue and how I wanted to purchase my 2023 back, but I also chose 2 other Crosstreks they had in stock that matched the trim level and color I wanted. After sitting around for hours they only ran the numbers for a Solterra which is an electric vehicle. That is a HUGE commitment and completely different from what I asked, a complete 180. Once again I was being told it was my ONLY option. They wouldn't even consider any of the 3 options I wanted. I was told the discounts and incentives they were offering knocked down the price the bank wanted to approve me for. I find this hard to believe because the Solterra was almost $10K more than the new Crosstrek I actually wanted, and almost twice as expensive as what they have my 2023 listed for. I was informed the monthly payment would be the same as my current loan, but I needed to make a downpayment 4 times the amount I told them I was comfortable making which I told them in the beginning of our meeting. I was told I had a week to think over the offer. The absolute kicker is that the loaner car they sent me home with while my new car was being repaired was the color of one of the options I provided(alpine green) and reiterated several times during our meeting I was leaning towards that option if I wasn't able to take my 2023 back. It was probably random, but honestly as rare as green is, was it really? Probably not. I suspect it was to throw it in my face. I am completely frustrated to more pay for something I didn't even want, and even worse something that is already faulty. I do not trust that this car will be reliable and safe to drive which goes completely against what the Subaru brand stands for. It was recommended that I just keep this car for at least a year and come back. I was told that I should just be happy I have a car. That sounds like something you would tell a bratty ungrateful teenager whose car they don't have to pay for.

I went in the SAME DAY based on that approval. When I arrived, I dealt with Dean and another guy in the office. We submitted every document they asked for and sat there for THREE HOURS waiting for a "bank response." No legitimate bank takes three hours to respond. The next day I called and was told they "still hadn't heard back." Then suddenly they needed more check stubs. We sent them immediately. They said they'd call back in 30 minutes. They didn't. When I called back, they literally hung up on me. I called again and was told they were "VERY busy" and would call when they could. They never did. Then I get a notification saying the vehicle was sold. An hour later? The SAME van is back online -- with a higher price. The next day? Another price increase. So which is it? Sold? Or just relisted for more money? This dealership wastes your time, plays games with pricing, and treats customers with complete disrespect. If this is how they do business, imagine what happens after you sign paperwork. Do yourself a favor -- go somewhere honest.
