I would not recommend bringing your Subaru to this service dept. I had some warranty work done there with issues of a check engine light that was trigger by a bad coolant sensor. They replaced the sensor but they forgot to fill the coolant reservoir tank with coolant!!! I drove awhile for a F@@king week when i discovered this. This is unacceptable. Suggest getting your used vehicle checked out by anyone other than them. The 2012 Honda I purchased with cash turned out to be a disaster. I checked car fax it is said timing was replaced The sole reason I drove 2 hours away to get this one. Turns out the timing belt has a faulty belt tensioner and broken piece from water pump lodged inside the belt casing. This cause major tapping noise at cold start which I didn't realize until the next morning because they had it warmed up when I arrived. They agreed to refund 350 after proof of payment for repair. I had it fixed immediately as it was not safe to continue driving without causing a catastrophic failure. The vehicle has grinding problems and noises from rusted brakes and transmission transfer case and or differential. On my way there I spoke to them and let them know I was on the way. They said they would have the vehicle sitting out front waiting fir me. I arrived and didn't see it anywhere. The salesman Mike Roman said it was in the shop because it had not had the pre sale inspection done yet. I showed him the carfax says it was done. He back tracked and said it was in for a vibrating heat shield. Maybe the heat shield was vibrating too but the major engine tap from faulty belt tensioner was obvious and completely missed or ignored and told me it was a heat shield. Again I chose this vehicle based on reliability and trust of the pre inspection done by Castle Subaru. Can I get a copy of the inspection report? How can a vehicle go through an inspection then be sold with major issues that renders it unsafe to drive? Im highly suspicious that an actual and appropriate inspection was ever done. Update 3/28/24- I did call them and spoke to Tina the Customer service manager. She sent me a copy of the inspection report on this car. The inspection report indicated the rear brake caliper and rotar in GOOD condition. I explained to her they are grinding metal on metal because they are so rusted out and far from GOOD condition I sent photos to them. They declined to fix brakes saying i bought the car as is and Im basically screwed at this point. They clearly choose profit over safety. I reported them to the Attorney Generals as i would recommend anyone do if you got screwed by them. You have every right to do so. They also ask for a plate for the test drive they said I didn't need one so I was left test driving a car in a strange town with no plate and no salesperson with me. I HIGHLY recommend reviewing their inspection report before purchasing a vehicle from them. Do not use Mike Roman as your sales person. read more

I'm on my 3rd Subaru since 2000 now. First one was a 13-year love affair, 2nd one was a 3-year convenience lease fling since Subaru's engineers had decided that apparently I was the only one in the world who wanted what I wanted. Once they woke up and actually built what I wanted (a non-WRX Impreza Sport that is -- get this -- actually sporty) I bought one from my sales guy Mark Sattler and after 4 years, Serenity and I are still in love and it looks like it's going to be another long, happy marriage. My wife understands. One of the reasons I like Castle is the service manager, Steve. Steve and I hit it off from the first time I came in for an oil change. We communicate well, he's sincere (I can tell he's not being fake just to make me happy) and I trust him to do what's best for Serenity and to not oversell to me. It's a good feeling. Recent service was for an oil change and to check one of the map lights. An inspection also turned up the fact that it's time to get the front brakes done, and that I'll be due for a set of new set of Yokohama running shoes soon. They are always courteous, professional, and have gone above and beyond to make sure Serenity and I stay happy. My only complaint (and not really a complaint) is that the marketing folks keep calling me to try and get me to trade in for a new one. I get it that it's their job, but I'm always in it for the long haul with a car. I ordered her specifically the way **I** wanted because I planned on a long relationship. I've put some effort into getting things just the way I want them for comfort, convenience and performance, and I'm not going to give that up. read more

After explaining what had happened over the last day he sat down and went over our options on what vehicle we were looking for. Dave V was so helpful and kind. He was not pushy at all and I never felt pressured to buy something I wasn't wanting. We did the paperwork with Brandon and he was Amazing also. After the paperwork was signed Dave took us to the garage where our new Ascent was sitting and he spend at least 45 mins past closing time to help my wife set up her phone to the car and also show and explain some of the features before we left. It was all around a GREAT experience with Dave V and Brandon. No one questioned why we didn't want any extra add on's etc. We will be back for sure. From the get go, the salesman was a slick talking dude who fibbed about the sticker price of the car (that I wasn't able to read behind the window tint). Negotiated on the basis of a $33k + sticker and came to a deal at $31k. Seemed fair given the car was pre driven. Didn't realize til I saw the sticker in the glove box the next day that I got taken. Called and asked the sales manager, Rick, to call me to discuss. No call back. Finally, I had a tire blow out and called the sales guy (who gives his cell # and tells you to call if you ever have any issues) to see if I had road hazard coverage. Nothing he could do as he claimed the coverage was declined. Will be going to a different dealer for our next Subaru. I always say, don't box with Mike Tyson. Definitely took it on the chin on this transaction. Never again. read more

Fees $$$$ Came in because I wanted to pay off my lease (2020 outback) early and buy a 2022. 1- did a kbb offer before I came in, told me they never pay the kbb offer - told me it's just to get you in the door 2- told me I couldn't order a new outback w/o a moonroof - had no problem ordering one elsewhere! 3- wanted $1400 in BOGUS stuff...clear coat protectant, undercoating, etc. (Castle made this no longer an option this year at all it's dealerships). PS....I work on cars for a living, it's crap 4- castle wanted 3 percent over MSRP for a wilderness edition (decided I wanted this model later) Easily called around and was able to order a wilderness for msrp w/ no fees. Be aware if you purchase a maintenance agreement with your new car. I recently went to Castle for regular service and was told that my car needed a cabin air filter for an additional charge. I was also told that I needed an alignment. The car drove straight as a string and there was no abnormal tire wear. The car had less than 12G miles; I declined both. It seemed odd the way it was presented to me. I was told by one of the Castle people that she had seen the filter and it was bad. I can't say for certain that the filter was not checked, but I could see no indication that the glovebox had been removed. Today, I went to a different dealership for service. Upon completion of my service, I told them of my experience at Castle. I was informed that the cabin filter was part of the regular maintenance agreement for which I had already paid. After contacting the BMV of Indiana I was informed the tags issued by Castle Subaru were never attached to my name nor was the title. I've contacted both the Indiana AG and the Indiana Secretary of State -dealer division. I believe because it was no financing involved they didn't pay the taxes on the car. Hence the plates not being registered. They refuse to provide proof of release of lien- citing the title is all the proof they need. The service advisor, Sam Matusik, immediately contacted me upon the vehicles arrival and kept in touch thru out the repair process. Sam explained to me everything that was going on and the Subaru service department got me back on the road in less than a day. I new the repair wasn't going to be cheap but Sam discounted the final price in addition to going over what service will be needed in the future to assure smooth running of my vehicle for several more years. It's because of people like Sam that a company builds a trustworthy reputation. I went here because of a flyer I received. When I got there with my wife we looked at a couple of cars then went in the showroom. Not one employee was wearing any kind of mask. A gentleman named Tony Alverez (not sure if spelled right) approached us. I told him what I was looking for and he stated they didn't have that model. We discussed a price range and he showed me a "demo" that he could fit into our range. This was a nice vehicle but it was a 2019 and had 6200+ miles on it from being what Tony said was their "chase car". After going for a test drive we told Tony that the car was nice and it was time to talk price. He sat us at his desk and started doing other things, looking for keys for other cars, needing a minute to eat a taco, ect. After sitting and waiting for more than 30 minutes my wife and I determined that Tony was not serious about helping us and had too many other things that were more important than taking care of a CASH PAYING CUSTOMER! Shady salesmen, inept mechanics, and poor management to go along with it. We bought a $10,000 used car from them. For me, that is a lot of money. A week after buying it, my check engine light comes on for a cylinder 1 misfire. After arguing with them about it, they agree to fix it. They said it was the spark plugs. A week later, my check engine light comes on for a cylinder 1 misfire. After arguing with them, they agree to fix it. They said it was the engine coil and put some crap foreign part on my car. A week later, my check engine light comes back on. At this point, I brought it to my mechanic who diagnosed the problem as my fuel injectors. I trust my mechanic and paid $1700 for a mistake they should have known about. If that isn't bad enough, here is more. Upon buying it, I told my salesman that the chrome strip on the side is coming off. They agree to "fix" it, but they fix the wrong side. I bring it back. They "fix" it again, but this time they apparently washed the car before the glue settled. I bring it back AGAIN. This time they replaced the plastic molding, not the chrome molding on the side. I bring it back a FOURTH time, and this time they didn't even have an excuse. Steve in service then kept telling me he was looking for the part. I called him every two weeks for over four months! He even asked me to email him pictures, so he could find the part. Flash forward to today. I call about the part. This time, the guy who sold me the car, Derek, answers. He says that it is an after market part, and they won't fix it. He also said that they "took care of me" in the past. I told him to transfer me to a manager, and he hung up on me. I drove to Castle after that, and I spoke with the manager. He told me that since it isn't a Subaru, he's surprised they even "fixed" it in the first place. He said they tried to fix it, but they are not going to keep trying, because it's a used car. One would assume that if they attempted to fix a problem, they were taking responsibility for that problem. I told him that he has inept mechanics. The manager told me that if it's so easy, why don't I just fix it myself. Avoid Castle at all costs. Spend your money somewhere else. Apparently, my $10,000 wasn't good enough for them. If you do end up walking in there, at least do me a favor and avoid Derek at all costs. He is the shadiest salesman there. read more
