I signed a waver that he could open walls if need be- He was there for maybe 45 minutes. He said he would come back when walls were open. I called when they were open but he wanted another 1400 dollars. My steel contractor called him 2 times to ask about the report and he never returned his call. I seriously do not get the 5 stars. I personally have never give a low rating - I barely do reviews. I could not let this go without a rating.

We hired Mugnier & Associates to provide structural analysis on a specific portion of our house…read morethat we were concerned with. We discussed our concern over the phone, received a quote to come by our house, write up a detailed report/analysis and provide a few Contractors who may be able to assist in resolving the issue. Mr. Mugnier came by our house and looked at the issue. He answered our questions and, in addition, he insisted on inspecting our basement (which was unrelated to the issue). When we received his report one week later, we were quite surprised to read just three sentences with general comments about the issue we hired him for. We reached out to request a more detailed report and received a few lines back which simply stated the area in question was "presently dangerous and cannot be used". Yeah we knew that) In addition, we requested the names of Contractors, and as of yet (we are just over a month out from his visit) we have not received any. Since Mr. Mugnier insisted on payment after his visit/before the report the written we have little recourse but to share our experience with the hope that others will take note.

I hired Liang (Andy) Cheng as a structural engineer to inspect the property. He was running late, so we told him to call/text when he arrived at the property. He didn't do that. Instead, he performed the entire inspection with the listing agent (aka not our realtor), not calling until he was done. When I got there, he told me that "everything was fine" and that there were "no problems". He took no photos and said it would take 2 days to have the report. Later questions uncovered the fact that he neglected to inspect many of the problem areas, for which I have attached some helpful reference photos. When I asked why, he said that he "didn't know he had to inspect [those areas". I reminded him that if he had done the inspection with me, instead of with the SELLER'S REAL ESTATE AGENT, he would have known. He seemed put off by this notion. Since he had an incomplete inspection, no photos, and no ability to generate a written report before our deadline, we were left with no choice but to terminate our professional relationship. I have no way to judge the quality of his work, as no service was performed. I can only recommend not hiring him.

He gave me some great feedback while he was there and gave me a realistic idea as to what to expect in terms of pricing of the repairs necessary for my home. His report was delivered prompty and went into great detail as to what needs to be repaired and his suggested repairs, down to exact measurements and types of materials to be used. What about hot driven rivets? Not in my 38 year career with structural steel have I seen this practice...why, because essentially hot driven rivets have disappeared from modern steel construction. What a surprise...a treat if you will...to learn that the Longfellow Bridge, originally constructed and completed in 1908, was being restored and renovated to address structural inadequacies...wear & tear and deterioration over the last 117-years of service. This challenging task being undertaken by ABE, and replacement structural elements required "hot driven rivets". Not only was this a process long gone, finding structural rivets of this type is quite a difficult task. Not to mention equipment needs, personnel training, installation and testing procedures...all necessary...today the ABE Shop has shown it's diversity, creativeness, and talents...living up to its name...Atlantic Bridge & Engineering.

Told her how the last person I went with screwed me over and stole my money and after that I could not get a word in edgewise. I hadn't even told her the full story of what happened and she kept telling me what I should have done, designs that person owes me, how I should get back in touch with that person so that they could give me the partial work they did so I could give it to her, etc. I'm an attorney so I obviously know what I was supposed to do in that situation and what that person owes me. And honestly, none of that is her business but I was conveying what happened to me so she knew what situation I was in and that I needed some reliable. However, she missed that point completely and bogarted the conversation. When I was allowed to speak and partially state what work I wanted done, I was never allowed to get my full idea out before she cut me off and told me what was and wasn't possible and what I should be doing instead. I was glad when the phone call was done and agreed for her to send me a quote via email, which I honestly didn't even open. If that how she was on the very first phone call, I knew the rest of the process would be a nightmare. Definitely not worth it. Found someone else on Thumbtack and couldn't be happier.
