To quote my building's move out inspector: "Your cleaner did not do a good job." Two of us who were there also agreed. Team Clean NYC's lackluster work included basically the entire kitchen remaining dirty, the floors having debris, and the cleaner breaking a panel off of the cabinets. While that stuff itself is disappointing, the real cherry on top is the company not interested in doing anything but defending the work. EDIT DUE TO RESPONSE: 1. We came back at the time that he told us, if he wasn't done then, that is not on us, and we were glad to wait however long needed. It simply wasn't communicated. For example, if he didn't want us there while he was cleaning, he could have given us a time to come back when he was done, finished on time, or simply asked for more time before we came back. We're sorry if stopping by, tipping him, and saying good work caused an uncomfortable environment. 2. We knew about the cabinet and could have explicitly mentioned it in the email, however not only is it clearly not a cabinet that we managed to not break in 2 years, but the details mentioned in our emails were loosely paid attention to so I'm not sure it would have done any good. 3. "Set up to fail" is an odd way of defending this kind of cleaning work. Beware of this company. I paid for a 3-hour cleaning of a small studio apartment. It was a move out cleaning so there was no furniture or any belongings in the apartment and all I asked them to do was simply wipe down appliances, cabinets, and other surfaces. They left my kitchen sink, cabinets, fridge, toilet, and floor dirty. I had the moving-out walkthrough with my apartment immediately after the cleaning so I didn't have time to ask the cleaner to fix everything he had left dirty. I made the mistake of leaving the tip at the beginning and leaving for an errand. Even my apartment staff were shocked at what a bad job the cleaner did. I reached out to customer service and they refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing and said there was nothing they could do. Money down the drain. read more

I am genuinely confused about this whole experience. The cleaner arrived on time and literally seemed to be cleaning for the whole 4 hours. She was very sweet. But...I have no idea what she cleaned! I mean, what the hell was she doing for 4 hours??? I cleaned put everything from my fridge on the counter. She put everything back in the fridge - and that was nice. Not sure she wiped it out. But maybe. It wasn't that dirty to begin with. Today I did a thorough cleaning of my kitchen, where the cleaner LITERALLY (used to mean LITERALLY and not FIGURATIVELY) spent FOUR HOURS!! And the walls still had streaks all over them. The floor had gunk EVERYWHERE, my counter space with all my pots and pans wasn't even close to ever having been dusted (my fault, but also hers because seriously, I just want to know, what she DOING??? We've used their cleaners 4x and they seem inconsistent. Some came with all their cleaning products, some didn't. Two were on time, one was a half hour late, another was an hour late. A few of the cleaners did what they could in the 2 hour time limit, a few went over the time to finish. 3 cleaners did a good job, but our last one (who seemed nice) left our place unclean, said she finished our kitchen but the sink and our island and stove top looked untouched, she didn't take out the garbage and left a dirty rag on the shelf. Besides all of the above, the owner seems responsive, almost overly cheery even when I had to complain about the last cleaner. Anyway, we won't be using them again. read more

When he first came over he spilled water all over the floor, didnt apologize and left the cup there. These people sent some guy to clean two rooms which he didn't do. I am a heavy airbnb user, so I have new guests coming in and out, and a few times I've been in a bind where i was out of town, and not able to prep my home before new guests arrived. After having relied on myself for the past 3 years - I decided it was time to let a professional come in and clean my apartment. I'm not messy, so I don't think I left a ton of work to be done, but nonetheless, there were some hidden nooks that needed scrubbing. I'm happy to report my apartment was spotless upon arriving home this evening. It smelled great and really was super clean. The entire experience was such a pleasure. The founder stopped by last Friday to see what she and her "teamsters" would be working with. I very much appreciated this because it made me feel at ease knowing who I would be letting into my apartment and because I knew she was giving me a fair estimate. Another company quoted me $300 and Team Clean did an excellent job at half the price (and they still spent 3 hours cleaning!). Furthermore, it was painless to set up an appointment around my schedule. They arrived right on time at 830 this morning and left things in perfect order. I'm slightly obsessive and can tell when someone has moved something just an inch out of place, and the care they took to put things as they found them was not unnoticed. The worst company you'd want cleaning your apartment and to work for. The owner, Candace Mills, is incapable of paying her employees on time (which makes you wonder what she's doing with the company money) which ultimately reflects on work ethic from workers. If workers aren't paid on time, they're unable to purchase the materials necessary to clean apartments, as well as make it to cleaning appointments I time due to the public transit system requiring payment for using their methods of transportation; nothing of which shed understand because she isn't located in New York City. Materials and transportation costs come right out of the employee pockets and aren't reimbursed regardless of distance of material costs. Employees receive roughly 33% of client payment while the other 67% goes into her pocket. I had a check of $300 that I deposited into my account that bounced, leaving my account negative $300. We used Handy for about 2 years and were often frustrated when someone unexpected would show up instead of our "regular" cleaner. We also prefer to use organic and natural products, no bleach, etc. and I have previously found it hard to communicate that to other cleaners. Team clean is great! They get it! The house is sparkling clean when they leave and doesn't smell like harsh chemicals. They are easy to communicate with and tend to remember all of our preferences without being reminded. They always bring two people and clean for 2 hours, which is much better for us than having one person here for 4 hours (especially in light of COVID). They're very sweet to our goofball of a dog. A manager from the company called me, and was very respectful and polite. I was in error in saying that the cleaning person showed up without tools -- he actually came with a smallish backpack of tools. When we discussed my problem with the specificity of requested services, she said in future she would use their work request form more frequently. This would be a great help to those of us who just see a "fridge" and don't think of cleaning inside and cleaning outside as different jobs. She also offered me 2 hours of service for my pains. She also said the problem arose when my specific requests got lost in the shuffle and didn't make its way to the person who ordered the services for me or to the deliverer of the cleaning services. The hourly rate is a little higher than some other services, but in my experience they do a better, faster job that makes it worth it (and kind of evens out in the end). I found out about Team Clean from a GILT City voucher. The process to set up the appointment was easy and they were flexible with scheduling, which is a plus. Steve came to our apartment on time (I am a big stickler about being prompt) and he really did beautiful work. Our bathroom was left spotless and smelled wonderful. Our kitchen was tidy, organized and the granite was so clean. Even though our voucher was only for 3 hours, Steve stayed longer as he needed more time. He really cared about his work and took the time to make sure it was all done. The normal prices for cleaning are a bit high, but you pay for what you get, ESPECIALLY in Manhattan. I never leave reviews, but I'd be remiss not to share my overwhelmingly positive experience with Team Clean. I called them a year ago to help temporarily with our Airbnb listing while I was on vacation (I'd been referred by a friend). Candace met with me beforehand to go over any special requests (leaving out towels and shampoos for guests, watering plants, etc) and gave us a fair rate. Everything was A+. My apartment looked great, they were very professional and the renters were happy. This would have been enough. However I had a family emergency while on vacation and had to leave NY for nearly a year. I was totally unprepared to start renting my apartment to multiple renters, but Team Clean went above and beyond to help me. Without Team Clean, I could not have afforded to keep my apartment last year. That's the truth. Their flexibility and fast communication is key, because it allowed me to quickly accept reservation requests. Team Clean kept the rentals going smoothly - which allowed me to focus on taking care of my family. For this reason above of all, I am compelled to leave this reveiw. DIDN'T SHOW UP, WERE UNRESPONSIVE, UNPROFESSIONAL AND PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE. When the cleaner didn't show up for the scheduled appointment at 8am, I called and emailed right away, but didn't hear back until 8:30 that they couldn't reach the cleaner. I kept checking back, but we didn't get an actual call until after 9:30. When I was understandably upset (the issue had caused me to be late for work as well as an important meeting), i was told I was aggressive, and they didn't need clients like me, and they minimized the seriousness of the problem. When I told them that they were being unprofessional, and that being over an hour and fifteen minutes late without an explanation was unacceptable and that they had made me late for work, I not only was told that they didn't need that kind of negativity in their life, but that "mistakes happen" and it wasn't that big a deal. I've dealt with other cleaning companies in the past, and if someone is late, they not only call right away, but are efficient and professional in handling any mistakes. I purchased this from amazon for my daughters empty apartment because we wanted a good 1st cleaning before she and her roommates moved in. The teamster arrived late. I got in touch with the company and then a short time later the teamster arrived. She said something happened to her grandmother. She should have called to let me know she'd be late I wanted the focus of the 2 hours to be on kitchen and bathrooms. Especially wiping out empty cabinets, fridge and stove. At some point I walked in and I saw she put her shoes on the counter cuz something spilled in them. What???? Dirty shoes DO NOT EVER belong on kitchen counters!. Then she finished and did 2 bathrooms. I checked it and she left. Only afterwards I noticed she did not clean behind the toilets and the freezer inside door had hair in it. Yuck! No one from the company ever called or contacted me to see if I was satisfied with the service. I think this very young girl who only moved to NY and started working for the company 3 months ago needs much better training. She told me that she is responsible for buying her own cleaning products. I noticed she used Lysol with hydrogen peroxide which I looked up on EWG website. It got a B rating. I thought they only use method, 7th generation or Ecover. I would NOT recommend this company. excellent communication and scheduling. everyone was very nice to deal with. the woman who arrived to clean my apartment was kind and thoughtful and serious about her work. but, unfortunately, i give the final cleaning job a two. this was supposed to be a four hour, thorough cleaning of a small two bedroom apartment--stated priorities were floors and dusting, neither of which really happened. the cleaner spent over three hours on the bathroom fixtures and parts of the kitchen. the stove top has never been so clean, the toaster too. but these details were at the expense of the overall job. she kindly stayed an extra half hour to finish up the job, but there wasnt time at that point to vacuum, mop and dust properly. the vacuum was a drive-thru--no putting up chairs, no moldings or baseboards. the "mop" was a quick swiffer job. dusting was cursory at best, never getting close to details like blinds or desk. i know that my apartment needed a good cleaning and that its not an easy place to clean. but if the four hour job was not possible, i wish the cleaner had said so on arrival so that we would could have worked out a realistic plan. i think the problem was a combination of time management and the wrong person for this job. her attention to specific details was impressive, but i was hoping for elbow grease and a good mopping. read more

I've had consistently excellent experiences with Team Clean. Their pricing is very reasonable, scheduling is easy and fast via email, and the service is excellent. I use a cleaning service sporadically, usually when me and my partner are both working long hours or before/after having guests stay with us, so when Team Clean comes the place is usually in need of a little extra attention. The Team Clean team members who've come to our place have always been very punctual, arriving at the scheduled time, and done a really excellent job, leaving everything sparkling clean. The owner is always extremely friendly, accomodating, and super helpful when scheduling or dealing with logistics. I often book with very short notice, and I've always been able to get my first preference for a date and time. They use natural cleaners and products, and bring all their own supplies (with the exception of a vacuum, I just make sure to leave ours out for them.) I love that the place is always perfectly clean but never smells like ammonia or bleach, as with other cleaning services that use harsher and less environmentally friendly products. I'd give them a stellar recommendation to anyone, but especially to anyone who has pets or is concerned about having harsh chemicals in their home, as all the products they use are non-toxic and environmentally friendly! The only potential issue I've ever had is that once a team member stayed much longer than planned to finish the job - she made sure that was ok with me when she realized it was going to take longer than expected, did a phenomenal job, and I wasn't charged a cent more (I even offered to pay more if I had been inaccurate when I gave the info the quote was based off of, and I was assured that it was fine) but it could have been an issue if I had planned the cleaning immediately before I had guests coming, as I sometimes have. But as far as I'm concerned, it's a plus to have a such great people that will go the extra mile and take the time to make sure the service is perfect! And as I said, the team member kept me informed and I wasn't charged anything extra. So really a plus in my book, but I do now make sure to schedule in extra time between a cleaning and guests arriving, and if I ever had to schedule it back-to-back with something else I'd probably just make sure the team member knew that when they arrived. I purchased an Amazon Local voucher for a two hour cleaning with Team Clean. With an email--and subsequent exchange--I had an appointment scheduled on the exact day and time I wanted. Justin, the Teamster who cleaned my apartment, showed up on time and quickly got to work. He started in the bathrooms and then the kitchen, eventually vacuuming and mopping the floors. I bought a daily candy voucher for a home cleaning service as a little treat for myself but let me tell you I will never get those 2 hours back and I just added another day of cleaning to my list of things to do...ugh! Here's what the cleaner did or did not do: 1) broke my microwave - it makes a fan noise when the door is shut so the door is just swinging open...(it is not the vent & it is not still on - it tried everything...) 2) my tub has a ring of gouk still hanging out waiting to be picked up (I asked for it to be redone but its still dirty) 3) the dust bunnies are still dancing around my floors (they bring a collapsable swifter - that's not good enough - I asked if they needed a broom and was told no).. 4) the carpet that was vaccuumed has crumbs and little pieces of paper 5) my stove still has dried food and stains all over it... 6) the mirrors in the bathroom still have saturday's mascara on it 7) i took out the garbage myself (they did offer but by then I had already had enough...)
