Retried this place and it was pretty terrible. I'm mainly upset at the amount we spent. It was 300$+ dollar for a one bedroom loft, and we also asked for a deep clean as we're incredibly busy this month. I was expecting it to be absolutely spotless considering we paid extra for it, but it was not the case. It felt like a general cleaning, and there were a lot of spaces that were missed (Our place is pretty small). They did the same thing as last time, recommended to come back to fix their issues, but I mean, I prefer no issues at all and to get on with my life. I had other things to do and I hated the idea of them coming back again when they could have provided a partial refund or perhaps just finish the cleaning in the first place. Only good thing that it offered was easy, quick scheduling. I'm going to try another place from now on, they haven't really upped their ante whatsoever. Pictures are from my bathroom (My only bathroom, btw), the wall had dust in it, and there was clearly dust left everywhere from my couch to my computer monitors. Edit: I understand the owner said he offered to return, but again, it's frustrating especially when I have a dog I wanted to keep there while I had to go off running errands. It's more of a headache on the customer if this is how it's always done. The bathroom was clearly not clean, and my place isn't large so really there's no excuse. This was the problem with the first cleaning, so I'm surprised this hadn't changed. Dust was also everywhere. Monitors, computers, base boards... Lastly, it was noted that the 'extra deep clean' would include steam mopping. This did not happen per videos of their job that we saw from our google video. read more

Just moved from California to NYC and was welcomed with the lovely landlord special - a dirty apartment. Not even broom-swept. My partner booked with Mr. Maid because of the seemingly good reviews and the fact that they were able to come out the very next day when most places were closed. We booked for a 2 br deep clean and added in a ton of extras like appliance cleaning, steaming mopping, etc, which brought our total to around $500 - not including the tip. There were 3 cleaners, one of whom seemed to be in charge, while the other two - a woman and a young man - did most of the cleaning. The other guy was mostly in and out and left early on to go and get his steamer (not entirely sure why it wasn't already with them). At first it appeared that the cleaning was good initially - baseboards were wiped down, inside of microwave and stove were cleaned, stove top wiped down, fridge cleaned, floor steamed (though I thought it was odd that it was only gone over once in a quick way), but once they left, my partner and I found a ton of things that a deep cleaning should have taken care of. I had spilled a little bit of water on the floor and when I went to wipe it up, the paper towel came up black. I wiped around in a few more areas and same thing. I looked underneath the microwave where the stove hood was and found a ton of caked grease all underneath. The broiler also had food debris in the crevices still. I took a photo and sent it to management and he apologized and said he could send the cleaners back out the next day, so that was great. This time two cleaners came out and they mopped, then steamed, then mopped again. Their mopping consists of spraying the floor down with a cleaner and then scrubbing it with a mop head, not with an actual bucket of solution. When I saw the bottom of the steamer and saw how black it was, I was surprised at how much dirt was left on the floors. They were able to get more of the grease on the stove hood up, but there were still some spots that I asked them to go over. At the end, I looked everything over as best as I could and it was definitely an improvement so I said thanks. It's been a few days after and I'm finding a bunch of things that you don't see initially, but come up as you're doing stuff around the home. I had to replace a lightbulb in the oven and noticed that there was still a lot of grease underneath the knobs where you turn the burners on. Still grease in the folds of the oven door. I dropped something in the bathroom and noticed that the floor underneath the sink hadn't been touched at all. Still a lot of dirt and debris under there. I have two remotes for my ceiling fans that are attached to the wall, but removable. When I pulled those up, there was dirt and spots underneath it. In most of the corners of the apt, there is still dirt that has to be cleaned by hand. By this point, I'm just too exhausted to have them come out again because it requires us to take time off to be here. The level of cleaning is that of a basic clean. If I'm deep cleaning a place, I am on my hands and knees and looking at everything meticulously. I understand that the business has you look things over after the job is done, but there are going to be things that you miss, especially if an apt is new to you and you haven't learned all of the ins and outs, or things don't reveal themselves until you use it or see it at a different angle. I remember I had even mentioned the tops of the light switches that had dirt caked on them, that hadn't even been looked at. A deep clean here definitely isn't a deep clean. It feels like they do enough to have it look good at first glance, but like I said, I am down on hands and knees looking over every inch when I'm deep cleaning. The cleaners were nice, but what I paid for and what I received left a lot to be desired. There should be a checklist of some sort that standardizes the services you receive because it seems like people have different interpretations of what deep cleaning entails. There's too much wiggle room based on what you can see and select on the website. First and last time using this service. Two stars because the cleaners were nice and management promptly sent them back out the next day when I found things that were overlooked, but otherwise, the price for deep cleaning and add-ons doesn't match the service. read more

My boyfriend and I were moving into a new apartment. It was a bit far from my current place and we wanted to get it cleaned before we moved in our stuff. Mr Maid NY was amazing. They went above and beyond. We paid for moving in clean + all kitchen cabinets/appliances cleaned. One of the main requirements I needed was someone to pick up the keys from me, and leave it at the apartment. Luckily I close to their office and they were able to provide that which saved me a trip to the apartment which was much appreciated. I paid ahead and they offered to clean it the day before we moved in so it would feel squeaky clean. Day of Cleaning : They arrived early and was very communicative. They had an issue ( No fault of Mr Maid NY ) where the lock on the door issue and they could not get in. They spent around 30 min fiddling with it and they thankfully managed to get in and clean my apt! I honestly am so grateful. ( For more context about the lock, I was able to get in when I moved in but then got locked out due because of a key strike issue and had to call emergency lock smith after being locked out for 2 hours with the key not working) Move in day, everything was sparkly clean! I thought there was some stains/some random spillage in the kitchen floor still. They offered to return to clean and fix it, however after we inspected the floor more it was stained into the floor and not remove-able. I cant recommend them enough! This review comes from California. My wife travelled to Manhattan to visit her two 90-year old aunts. Their high rise apt. was in seriously bad shape! Since I do not know anyone in Manhattan to help us, I called at least 8-10 Cleaning companies (all on Yelp). Not a single cleaning service answered with a "live" person. In fact they all said to leave a message? That just doesn't work for me! I finally came across Mr. Maid NY, and Steven (the owner) was the first to actually answer! He very promptly arranged for two ladies to clean the apt. the very next morning at 8am. Terrific work they did! Appliances were pretty filthy, everything needed deep cleaning. We had them return the next morning, again with 2 gals. Final outcome was really outstanding!! Steven was easy to reach every time I called, and he coordinated exactly what was needed, and immediately! This is an excellent business with great customer service! A bad experience. The first thing you want in a cleaning crew is trust. You want to trust that they're going to do what you ask, and that they're going to be honest. Without that--you've got nothing. The cleaning crew showed up 10 minutes early & I gave them a few requests-- among them, that they use my Miele vacuum on my wool and silk Tufenkian rugs.They indicated understanding. The work was distributed unevenly. The main cleaner worked much harder than the other woman, who, after cleaning the bathroom, mostly stood around. The main woman did a good job with the woodwork. HOWEVER. There were significant problems. She used the vacuum they brought. Fine. I reminded her of my preference and showed her how their vacuum both left behind dirt and pulled up delicate fibers if my silk rug. She clearly understood, and re- vacuumed that room with my vacuum. Then she tried to "sneak" and use her vacuum in the next room. Wtf? Really?? I corrected her, and she once again switched to my vacuum. Here's where it gets warped. I complained to the supervisor, because this is uncool. And she told him that this never happened, that she used my vacuum the whole time, switching to the company model because mine didn't have a crevice tool. Untrue. I saw her working with my own eyes. Anyway, my vacuum has one. And what crevices? They didn't clean inside the furniture-- they left that filthy-- and I have rugs, not carpets. They don't extend to the walls-- no crevices. Whatever. The owner chimes in and casts doubt on the veracity of MY story --. He tries to corral me into declaring that my cleaning was "great...amazing!!!" And that this was a "misunderstanding". Total Bull. When I told him I would write a bad review, he distorted what I'd said, told me I was 'threatening to hurt' the company, and promised he would get Yelp involved.... Just nastiness. Don't hire these people. Humans make mistakes. But dishonesty is the last trait you want in a house cleaner. And nastiness in her boss when you complain is no fun, either. read more

Terrible job at falsified price. I ordered a deep cleaning for a whopping $300+ and could not believe the nerve of this business. The service sent two tiny, petite female cleaners who did a basic cleaning, and not a very good one at that. They forgot to change the sheets, put garbage bag liners back in the garbage pails, left smears and dirt on the floor and walls, didn't touch the blinds or do any dusting. They were also unprepared to reach higher shelves for cleaning. The cleaners appeared to take turns working, with one constantly on the phone. They spent a half an hour taking posted items from the door of the refrigerator and then putting them back again. I couldn't believe what I was witnessing. You want to talk dissatisfaction? A summary follows: 1. They did not thoroughly clean a small one bedroom apartment, leaving many areas completely untouched. 2. They did not follow directions; 3, They took advantage by spending their paid time on the phone; 4, They forgot even the most rudimentary basics of house cleaning. About 2/3rds of the way in, I called the company to express my deep dissatisfaction and to advise that I refused to pay for "deep cleaning." I ended up giving them $200, which is way more than they deserved. As soon as I got off with the owner, the cleaners left without finishing the job. This is not rocket science. This company is confused about what constitutes "deep cleaning," and giving customers less than even basic cleaning for triple the price. From here-on in will find another housekeeper NOT affiliated with fly by night services who falsify what they are selling. read more

TLDR: Excellent service, will be hiring again! Thank you Carlos & Stephen. Long version: On a Friday afternoon, I decided last-minute to hire a home cleaner to come the next day (Saturday). I sent out a few quote requests for my 1 bedroom/1 bathroom Brooklyn apartment - regular clean (not deep clean), and Mr Maid NY was one of the accounts that got back to my ASAP. Stephen helped answer all my questions online (I have two cats and wanted to make sure that would be OK) and let me know there was next day availability. I booked through their website late that night and on Saturday morning, Stephen got in touch with me via text to let me know that the time slot I had picked was not available but that there was a cleaner available later in the day. My cleaner, Carlos, called me before my scheduled time (4 pm) to ask if it would be OK for him to arrive early at 3:30 pm - which worked great for me! Carlos was extremely professional and had a kind, pleasant demeanor. As a non-binary person, I can feel uncomfortable to be alone in my home with a man I don't know - but I was completely at ease with Carlos. He was very thorough and everything looked great afterwards, particularly my hard wood floors. Mr Maid NY is a great service, and the price cannot be beat. Right when the cleaner was about to leave, I quickly looked at everything and it seemed fine so I said it was okay. Though initially it looked like the cleaner was through, after further inspection, I noticed that the floors still had dust bunnies, though I paid extra to have the microwave cleaned it wasn't, neither was the shower or kitchen sink, there was actually a pile of unidentifiable "gunk" next to the toilet, and the rug had not been vacuumed. The main places you see often (counter tops, toilet, bathroom sink, etc.) were cleaned, but it was not as through as I expected and things I assumed would get cleaned (like shower, microwave, rug) were not. I'm okay with the clean, and would be interested in using them again because they were extremely responsive and professional, but would want a better explanation of what is included in my clean and may need to be more directive instead of just trusting the cleaner to do their job. I recommend this company. My first impression was very favorable, as Stephen responded to me almost immediately at 9:30 pm. We discussed services and I asked for a deep clean + inside refrigerator. They were able to schedule me at my requested 9 am on Sunday, just 3 days later. They were very prompt. Stephen brought Ana and Ana. They were all very nice and jumped right in. We have a 3 yr old, a 16 yr old, 2 cats, and 2 busy adults in our household so our apartment had fallen into a bit of a mess. There was absolutely no judgement from them. Overall, the house looks great. Sure they missed some small things like the base of the cat scratcher, a very few number of molding section, the back of one chair, didn't do a great job on the piano keys, and missed the the tops of a few pictures. All pretty minor things in my opinion. The biggest miss in my opinion was that they did the front of some of our cabinets but missed a couple of others completely. However... Stephen had me inspect the whole apartment and said that if I noticed anything they missed that they would fix it right there. Sure they missed some small things, but so did I. In fact, they got a bunch of things I wouldn't have thought of. They cleaned the top of my scale, the stool my 3 yr old uses to reach the potty, Scrubbed the wall of the shower, windowsills, sides of the trash can, our little green house things for our succulents, visible parts of our big bookshelf, the tops of the heating units, under the appliances, microwave inside and out... even the inside of the kitchen sink is shiny clean. As they were leaving Stephen mopped himself out of the door, and then one Ana noticed a smudge on the side of my trash can and dust on the thing in front of my door. All that being said, we're having them do my mom's apartment in a couple of weeks and I'll be sure to work with them again in the future. read more

In spite of their heavy loads they were smiling, friendly and professional. My place is old with lots of wood and other dust collecting surfaces, my cat is big with lots of fur that hides better than he does. When Rosa and Norma were done, there were no signs of either. In case you misread that rest assured, the cat is still here. We walked through the apartment before they left and they answered the few questions I had. I will request them next time. When I moved to NYC, I struggled to find a good cleaning service. They are almost all expensive, even at the bottom part of the range. I went through 3 different companies before finally finding Mr Maid NY. Firstly, if you are trying to do a price comparison, I can save you some time: value for money, they are the best out there (at least in this price range). If you are going under this price range, the service is typically pretty mediocre or you are dealing with an individual and paying them hourly. If you go to the next price range (which jumps up by several hundreds of dollars), you definitely get more but you have to be able to afford it (which I can't). Secondly, the service: comprehensive. A lot of other services will basically just wipe surfaces, quickly clean your bathroom and kitchen, and vacuum. Washing the floors? Forget about it. Dusting? Only if you ask. Something is hard to reach? Nope, they won't be getting that. When I first considered Mr Maid NY, I called up to see what their cleaning entailed. They must have thought I was crazy asking detailed questions (e.g., what about dusting? baseboards?), because they included pretty much everything in their basic service. Lastly, I love the add-ons they offer. When I need my fridge cleaned, they have very reasonable upcharges that you can pick online when you schedule your cleaning. I highly recommend giving them a shot! read more
